if you don’t speak mandarin, I feel like the service is just that bad. Came in with a group of 5, and they don’t seat you until your WHOLE party is there. After we were seated, we kept having to repeatedly ask for stuff. But it was kind of busy, so I’ll give them some slack there. I’ve definitely had better Taiwanese hot pot. don’t get me wrong, the soup wasn’t too bad and the portions are filling for a starving petite girl like myself. I ordered the beef hot soup in very spicy, which was good enough for me since I LOVEEEEE spicy(just not to the point where my mouth is on fire). Overall, I feel like the food is 3 stars, but with below par service makes it 2 stars.

Probably the best hot pot in the SGV. When you want soup for the soul this is the place to go. There are multiple locations but this one is by far the best. Never disappoints

Boiling Point was one of the restaurants my mom said we HAD to go to because it’s supposedly super good and we’ll be missing out if we didn’t. I mean, okay if you say so. My family and I arrived here after a 7 hour drive down to SoCal from the Bay Area so you can only imagine how hungry and tired we must’ve been. Boiling Point is inside a small plaza so there’s parking up top and down below as well. The wait for this place was about maybe 20 – 30 minutes for a group of 7. Eventually we got a table upstairs and they gave us a few minutes to check out the menu. Not quite sure how everyone’s pot turned out, but I got their number 6 and opted for black tea instead of green tea. Black tea in my opinion is way sweeter so that was the winning factor. They brought all the pots together so no one had to wait for one or the other to get theirs first before eating which was nice. And each pot gets a bowl of rice as well. Overall, I thought it was alright. A bit too hyped up. Their black tea was good to drink, and the food was good, but after having this place I cannot justify the 1 – 2 hour wait back home at the Boiling Point near me. This place probably rates a 3 – 3.5 stars for me.

Came here for lunch specials and I believe it ended at 3pm. I ordered lamb with rice and the lunch special is basically $ 1 off of dinner with a free green/black tea drink. The lamb soup was great along with their special sauce. Its a good place to take your time and talk with friends.

Boiling Point always seems to be a solid pick when I’m thinking of eating something soupy yet hearty. And since there are lots of different soup options, I feel like there is always a reason to go back. This time around I had the House Special with vermicelli noodles. It was light and tasty. A tad bit on the salty side so I added some water haha. But they’ll give you plain broth if you ask. My favorite is still the Japanese Miso soup though. Since that one is a larger portion, I recommend sharing it with someone and adding on some extras to round out the quantity. Btw, what happened to the complementary basil seeds after meals? Is that only something you get for lunch? Kinda was looking forward to it. I prefer this location over the one on Garvey because of its larger size, but all the locations are good.

I don’t know what it is about BP, but I always crave it when I’m in the area. I always come to this location because it’s much bigger than the other ones, and I always get the beef hot pot, mild spicy(if you’re unsure how spicy you want it, you can always make it spicier by yourself by adding some extra chili oil!), and sometimes I get their boba drinks too, which are surprisingly good for a place that doesn’t specialize in boba. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this place. Service is good; they always have people watching over all the tables, and they’ll come by to refill your broth if they see that you’re running low. Though you can tell the quality of the stuff they use isn’t the best, you get a good variety of stuff in every type of hot pot, and I always leave satisfied and with a full belly. The price is fair too! Just be prepared to wait during a dinner rush; I like to come in at the odd hours to avoid the crowds. Be aware that last call for dining in is 10:45pm!

Hello my Unilocalies, Is it still worth it after all this years? … Who doesn’t know about boiling point? If you live in the 626 area you probably heard of boiling point. Hotpot hotpot and more hotpot. Parking here isn’t too bad, you can either park on the top or they have an underground parking lot. If you come here on the weekends it does get very pack, so I definitely suggest come here early or come on times where it’s not lunch or dinner time. This place is always packed, you pretty much always have to wait, either 5 minutes or sometimes hours. I’ve actually been coming to this place since I was in high school. I was very happy when they finally open one on valley and see how spacious this place is. This is definitely Taiwanese style hotpot, I used to order the Korean kimchi hotpot but now they took it away which is one of the main reason I stopped coming here. That was my all time favorite pot, the seasoning was perfect and if you love kimchi like me then you definitely would have liked that. Now since they don’t have that pot anymore, I started to get the Beef Hotpot. It’s decent, I do like how they put a lot of varieties of choices inside the pot. There’s many kinds of fish balls. But one thing I do wish they could change is add more meat and less veggies. You pay around $ 13-$ 15 a pot, that should deserve at least a decent amount of meat. I personally think this place is a little overrated. And they went from extremely delicious to just okay. I really hope they can boost up their quality and bring back some of the old pots. I do like this place but there are many other places that’s cheaper and better. Overall, 4 stars for service, 3 stars for food, 3 stars for environment and decoration and 4 stars for cleanliness. I may come back again just because I love their dipping sauce, but honestly it is just not worth the wait and the money anymore.

Unsurprisingly, there was a pretty long wait on New Year’s evening. We decided to head over here after catching the Rose Bowl game. At 6:30, we were told our wait would be about an hour. We decided to just wait around since other places will likely have the same wait.(We killed time having dessert across the way.) We were finally seated at 7:45. Thankfully, our table was spacious and uncramped which is great cuz we were all wearing jackets, scarves, etc. Service is mediocre at best, just like at the other locations. Our server neither seemed enthusiastic or even cared about his job. Interaction with him was either having our request repeated back to us(sometimes incorrectly) in question form or bland, silent acquiescence. His coworkers seemed much more in-tune with their jobs. Food was good although I’m not a fan of the format — precooked hot pot. Their broths are flavorful(I went with«Very spicy» Japanese Miso, #9) but their ingredients leave much to be desired. Half of the«udon» in my hot pot was in bits and pieces(less than an inch long) and were discolored(purplish red) I’m pretty sure because they pre-assemble these pots and the raw blood from the meat soaked into the noodles after having sat on top of them for a while. I have noticed this at other BP locations as well. Not typically my first choice for food but not bad in terms of taste and price once you get past all the other stuff.

FINALLY got to try Boiling Point for the first time & it was really good! Definitely enjoyed it. However, the wait sucked cause it took a while & we had to wait outside in the cold. Anyways, I got the beef hot pot w/medium spicy & that was yummy. Very filling. Comes w/either rice or noodle. I went the rice route. Their garlic sauce is great! And idk what that red sauce(not the chili oil) is but that’s good too, I mixed it in w/my garlic sauce. Will def be back :) but to a Boiling Point closer to home.

This place never disappoints! The only downfall is the wait. Parking: There’s parking on the main floor and a couple towards the back. Additional parking underground. Service: They’re pretty much busy at all times so sometimes it’s takes a little longer to flag down a waiter but it never takes longer then 5 minutes. They’re pretty attentive if you need more water, want your fire burned out, or need more broth added. Price: The prices are reasonable. They also have a lunch special that comes with a free green or black tea. The portion is decent and gets me full. Most of the time I can’t finish it on my own.

I love coming to boiling point for lunch — the lunch deal is pretty great! I like the idea of the individual hot pot, because if you go somewhere like little lamb having to pay for each item a la carte really adds up! Boiling point has two major drawbacks — there is always a long wait(they open at 11 am, we came at 11:15 and every table was already full). And number two, everything comes precooked in the pot, so things tend to get over cooked and mushy if you don’t have a plan for how you’re going to eat. The first time I came, I was really turned off by everything being overcooked. But the flavor of the Taiwanese spicy and the value of the lunch deal was enough to get me to come back. Since then, I have developed a system for eating. When you order, make sure to ask for an extra bowl so that when the food gets to you, you can grab all the stuff in the bowl that has the potential to overcook(meat, noodles, etc.) and move it to the other bowl so that it doesn’t keep cooking. Then you can eat at your own pace, dipping stuff back into the broth or putting some broth on your spoon with whatever your eating to heat it back up/flavor it without it getting overcooked from sitting in the bowl the whole time. They unfortunately don’t have any satay sauce, but their garlic sauce is really delicious. And like I said, their lunch special is a good deal — ~$ 10 for a pot, noodles/rice and a tea or ~$ 15 for a premium pot combo. Sadly, the tea is presweetened and a bit too sweet for me, but i still appreciate that it’s free.

I LOVEBOILINGPOINT! this is perfect season for some hot and spicy hot pot! I always order my beef hot soup. Usually get mild but if you want a more kick to it then get medium. Comes with either rice or noodles, I like to get noodles because the rice gets filling and you won’t be able to finish all the food in the pot. Love their milk tea! Anything milk tea of their is good.

It’s actually my first time having hot pot. My friend suggested coming here since it’s been cold. Located on a busy street of San Gabriel, Boiling Point is a very popular chain store. My friend warned me that the wait can take a while but I was up for it if the food was good. None the less, Boiling Point did not disappoint. We were seated with in 45 mins on a busy Saturday night. I ordered #4 the lamb and he ordered #5 the beef. You are able to customize the spice level. My experience was fairly positive, the food was good and hot. I did wish there was more meat but after everything boiled –the broth was delicious. Service could be a little more attentive, our waitress took a bit before she got our order and she forgot our glass of water. But positive experience none the less. There’s plenty of parking underground. I’d definitely come back for some delicious hotpot.

Boiling Point always hit the spot, it’s my favorite hot pot restaurant. This location is always busy with a bunch of people waiting outside for seating. They open at 11am, it’s best to come around this time to avoid the wait. I usually come during lunch because it’s cheaper and it comes with complimentary black or green tea. My favorites are the Beef Hot Pot and the Korean Hot Pot. Their hot pot are consistently flavorful and they put a good variety of ingredients in each. Their chili garlic sauce is also delicious, I always love dipping my meat into it. Service has been okay, no complaints so far!

+Parking may seem limited, but there’s a small lot in the back and also underground +The wait may seem long, but it actually went by super quick. I really like the fact that they had an automated numbering system. You grab a ticket, and wait outside. When you see your number flash on the sign, it’s your turn. This is way better than the workers coming out and yelling out the number or having the customers go inside and constantly check where they stand on the list. +We went during lunch. The only difference between lunch and dinner menu is that you get a free drink(black tea or green tea) during lunch. +The prices for items #1−7 are only $ 10 and items #8−10 were $ 15 +I got the lamb hot pot and it was delicious !! Get it with the steamy hot rice because the noodles is not worth it! It’s the thin glass noodles that doesn’t fill you up. The servers will come occasionally come around to refill your broth when it’s running low. But if they don’t, feel free to ask! They were super nice about it too. If you don’t finish, you may get a container and take the rest of your pot to go.

I’ve been coming here often. I average about once a week when I’m in town. I absolutely love it here. I still will come here. However, I am taking a star off for multiple reasons. 1. They took always the tomato hot pot. That was my go to beside the house special. A part of me died when I saw this gone. I know this is old news, but never really had a chance to vent about this. 2. I also feel like they cut back/skimped out on the meat in each of the hotpot. Not sure if that is just me but the beef hot pot is a few slices versus a whole lot before. 3. Service is a hit or miss here.

Not a fan of the hot pot, guys. Soup in general is just strange to me. It’s a drink disguised as a savory meal. The only exception I’d have to soup is any of my dad’s cooking or ramen. FOOD/SERVICE: For the most part it was okay. Strange but okay. It’s not Boiling Point’s fault that I don’t like soup. But as for the party I came with we got: — Seafood/Tofu(my choice. Should’ve gone with the Japanese miso but that only comes as a large bowl) — Taiwanese spicy(Also comes as only a large bowl) — House special — Beef The staff seemed pretty hectic. The food wait was a bit longer than expected but thankfully we had some iced green teas to keep ourselves preoccupied(Refreshing drink! Probably my favorite part of the whole evening). As for the actual food? It was okay. The flavors were good but not amazing. I liked the mushrooms & shrimp. The tofu wasn’t bad. The fish balls were not a solid fish ball because there was some surprise in the middle that caught me off guard. As for the other hot pots, everyone finished theirs for the most part. They seemed happy & stuffed. Had this place gotten to change my mind on soup, then I’d definitely say thumbs up but wasn’t the case here. Sorry Boiling Point, didn’t get a fan this time. BUT friends seemed to enjoy it. Overall, SOUPSTILLISNOTMYTHING. Sorry hot pot fans. Heads up(s): — Your first time? Okay well let me warn you, the hot pot(if not careful or aware of how to eat hot pots) boils pretty fast. Its pops &sparks and can hit you when you least expect it. So. Take cover or let your better cooking friend do it :) — When you get to the plaza the restaurant’s at, let one friend park & let another put your name on the waitlist. Saves 5 minutes. — Came on a Saturday around 8PM. Wait was a good 30 – 40 min.

I TRY going here during lunch hours only because the pot i have ALWAYS gotten(beef pot) is one of the pots that are $ 1 off. In addition, you get a free black or green tea! The black tea is my fave of the two choices. With this lunch deal going on, every time I dine for dinner I feel ripped off because the tea is like $ 3.50 lol. Booooo! Anyway, I love their beef pot. There’s so much variety in it; some examples include: cabbage, enoki mushroom, meatball(half lol), tomato, corn, vermicelli noodle, tofu skin, and imitation crab. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but the service isn’t always great and there’s almost always a wait during the times I want to dine. Seating can get cramped if you’re not at a booth either… request it! I definitely would like some more space while dining. I don’t usually have too much trouble finding parking. It kind of sucks though, one way in and one way out.

I really enjoyed this place. The wait was about 30 mins. The place is fairly tiny so it seemed like a reasonable amount. I got one of the larger hot pots and it was a bit too much for me. In my opinion the smaller one more than suffice. My issue with them is a bit with service. It’s not bad, but not very attentive. If it wasn’t in SGV, I would be shocked. But this is a bit ‘normal’ for SGV. Took a while to get water refills, they ran out of non disposal chopsticks, and took time to bring our extra orders. But overall, it a was a pleasurable and tasty dining experience.
