I was in the area for a wedding this let Saturday and after the church we were hungry and Unilocaled something near by! Luckily I had bookmarked carrillos a while back and decided to give it a go since we were walking distance! I went off simply by the highlights and ordered me some menudo! The menudo was very good I think the highlight should be the homemade tortillas! My favorite!!! We also ordered the torta de chicharron con chile and it was heavenly! Spicy too! Just the way I like things Pretty damn good Mexican food for a whole in the wall spot! Oh yeah and you have your selection of salsas. Will be back

On our way home we stopped at this restaurant that we found on Unilocal. My husband ordered the chili verde burrito and my daughters and I shared two pork tamales with green chili sauce con queso. Amazing — fresh tortillas– super spicy salsa. Very tasty!

Disappointing Mother’s Day with this place’s takeout food. Menudo consists of tripe and homeny; however, in the $ 60 charge – just for the menudo – all that was given in our large saucepan was soup. Very disappointed. Next time I will be sure to check it out…

Holy Cow am I glad I eat meat! What this place lacks in ambiance they make up for a few times over with the food. I’ve never had a taco so good. They’ve got all the things you’ve heard of and several things you’ll be glad you tried. This is one place you don’t have to fear trying something new. When the say everything is good — they mean it.

The best tamales in California! I highly recommend this place! Friendly staff! They are always busy. Parking can be a pain. Tamales are $ 2.25 I think but they are really big

Been coming to this place for years and the quality seems to be degrading since my last visit. Tortillas are too thick for enchiladas. The tortillas were stale on the tacos. The meat was bland. The elote tamale was very dry and hard as cardboard. with no flavor whatsoever. Not edible. Overall experience was disappointing.

Been going to this place since I could remember. Everything in this restaurant is amazing, the burritos especially! ! Their homemade tortillas are so amazing I sometimes but a pack of them to take home and make quesadillas when I’m hungry. But if you want something that will really fill you up, try the George Lopez burrito. Gosh that is an amazing wet burrito. I’m salivating just thinking about it. I would highly recommend eating here!

Tamales are on point how ever I had a carne asada burrito that had fatty meant and didn’t taste well I also ordered it with no pico which they made with it anyways overall it’s not what it use to be and prices have went up drastically if it wasn’t for the tamales or the fact that it’s a local hang out I would come here.

This is a the best San Fernando offers when it comes to «Tamales» authentic Mexican food never disappoints there’s a few other places in San Fernando the other places their Tamales the masa is always soggy all the time and mushy inside don’t waste your $ other’s have said the same about the other Tamale Place…

I had better! I had higher expectations based on 4 stars however only 130+ reviews. So I came to rate it my self. Outdated furniture, outdated decoration and sitting area. The food is just alright and to pricey. I order the following: carne azada burrito but they put to much beans I could not taste the meat at all as the flour is too thick. Scale from 1 – 5 I’ll give the burrito a 3 Tacos de azada & Taco de Chicharron It was good but once tortilla was too thick for the amount of meat they put in it. I’ll give the taco a 3.5 rating Torta: Nothing special. rating 3 Salsas de Molcajete: Is so good! Not spicy but the flavor is legit. Rating 4 Salsa Roja: good but nothing you won’t find in any Mexican restaurant. Rating 3 They forgot a burrito from my order, they had no problem making it but they had to check my receipt: I thought«really? I was your only customer you don’t remember what I just order 5 minutes ago lol(not a big order) NOICE !!! ALLFOUNTAINDRINKSWEREHOT! So I had to change it for a soda which is more expensive and I really wanted an Horchata with my Mexican Food :-/

So my Dad has been coming here for years. He frequently brings us a take out order, always the same, for the whole family. He orders the Chile con Carne special. It comes with 1 pint of meat of your choice, 1 pint of rice, 1 pint of beans &1 dozen tortillas. We always get the pork with Chile verde and flour tortillas. For the first time a few weeks ago, I came with him to pick up my order. I must agree with Keith M’s observation: ambience is not the strong suit of this place. But the food is so worth it. And the staff were all very friendly. We went with the same order again, because there is no point in messing with a good thing. The pork is delicious, the beans are spectacular and the flour tortillas are large, thick and taste great. And I’m not even much of a tortilla guy. The meal serves my family several servings and puts a smile on all our faces. The one knock that my Dad pointed out was that they made the meat serving smaller. I believe it used to be 1 quart of meat but it is now only a pint. Plus he said they slightly upped the price of the meal. Seems counterintuitive but that’s business for you. It is so good, it hasn’t stopped any of us from coming. Maybe one day it will, but for now, I highly recommend it.

Disappointed… Mom used to bring tamales home from here 30 years ago. We found ourselves in the neighborhood a few days ago and after some wrong turns we found it! Not what we remembered, sad The pork tamales were mostly masa with little pork and, well, really not the flavorful moist tamales we remembered. We rely on being able to reheat tamales during the holidays and after doing so they were really, really dry. Nothing we would want to serve to our guests. We always steam… And the price $ 24.00 a dozen? Kind of high…

Good food, kinda pricey, terrible service. Put in a phone order to go. Arrived, waited, 30 minutes later never got my food. When I asked about my food, worker seemed dumbfounded. Taking my business elsewhere, too many good spots in the Valley to put up with service like this at their prices.

Ambiance this place doesn’t have. It is VERY casual. Reminds me of a deli in a store. BUT the food. Wow! I had a green chile pork burrito — wet. It was enormous and delicious. My friend had a taco & enchilada plate and loved it. I’d go here on a heart beat.

Looking for a place with fresh tortillas, I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it try for a taco party. The lady who took my order didn’t smile and didn’t say thank you when I left. She seemed to be in a crummy mood or hated her job. I just wanted to quickly leave the restaurant because of her. The gentleman that walked me to my car was really friendly even though he didn’t speak any English, which made up from the snootiness of the lady at the counter. He seemed more appreciative. I ordered a platter of 40 mixed street tacos with homemade tortillas and homemade flour tortillas on the side for the kids to make quesadillas or breakfast burritos. Looks like this is where George Lopez and Danny Trejo go for food as well as I saw pics of them in the restaurant. Worth the drive to San Fernando if you’re looking for a Valley option without a trip to Boyle Heights for good Mexican food and fresh housemade tortillas. Hooray for housemade tortillas! My latest food obsession, along with tacos.
