There food was really good but my friend had specifically asked to not have anything made with milk or mayo and they gave us a dish that had mayo and claimed it wasn’t made with milk. But, my friend is lactose intolerant and he couldn’t eat it at all. They didn’t charge us for the dish. Their customer service is alright. The food is worth the go.

Lunch special is fine and quantity is sufficient. Unfortunately, they only give one choice for the main entrée, and only vegetable tempura, no shrimp in sight. The salmon teriyaki was very moist with crispy skin. Everything was to temperature: icy salad and hot tempura. They don’t allow add ons for the lunch bento, so I ordered an order of tuna sushi. Fresh with a good ratio of rice(not too much), to the tuna.

Good food, poor service. The toro was excellent with fresh wasabi. The tako was flavorless. The spicy sauce with the lemon pepper salmon was good, but the salmon was average. The albacore carpaccio was very delicate and nice. The salmon skin handroll was very good, crunchy and sweet. The service was inattentive.

Chef Mike was outstanding and made the best sushi I’ve ever had… He was also a delight to talk to and kept Cindy and I entertained… This will be my favorite sushi place to go to in the San Gabriel valley…

This place, as out of the way as it is, has some of the best sushi in the area. The chefs are amazing and the customer service is always fantastic. Really, if you’re in San Dimas/Glendora or anywhere within driving distance, check it out.

This is a nice place in San Dimas to look for Sushi. But if you are looking for higher quality of Sushi and you have no time restriction, you may find other places further out to the coast. Below are what we ordered, Sushi Deluxe-standard quality, a 5 star given Eskimo-strong sauce tastes added, if little later on sauce, maybe can enjoy the taste of fish wrapping around the crab meat — 4 stars Fried Oyster — 3.5 stars, the over fried, and very strong fishy scent. Uni Sushi– 1.5 stars, too strong of fishy taste, served in a midsummer sized plate, not decorated! I would suggest a smaller plate making it look better. And… can’t ask for too much. Last gift from the chef, served free salad, which would receive 4.5 star, but since it’s not what I ordered, did not consider to include that! Overall, nice service and descend food.

We had two sushi rolls and a combination dinner to share. The food was really good and seemed very fresh. They had a good variety of sushi rolls to choose from so I’m looking forward to trying them all. It’s a small restaurant so get there early to avoid a wait. We were there at 6:00 and by 7:00 there were people waiting. My only two complaints would be about their hot tea and customer service. Our hot tea was very watery and not that hot. I’m used to Japanese tea being very strong and this was like tea flavored water. When I got a refill I asked for it stronger and I saw her empty the tea leaves from the pot and put new ones. The tea was much better on the second cup. There wasn’t much customer service other than taking our order. Every time we needed something we had to flag down a waitress to ask. They never came and asked if we needed anything. Overall it was good food and I plan to return again.

A really good sushi spot that’s worthy of 5 stars. This place is better than most of the sushi restaurants I’ve been to in Los Angeles. Definitely a restaurant to go to if you’re in the sgv.

It’s a nice crowd on Friday w/a full sushi bar. The staff is nice; there are 3 sushi chefs here to make fresh rolls etc. l think after the 2nd or 3rd mgmt takeover, things seem to have improved.

Came here on a whim since it’s right down the street from my house and my friend was craving sushi. It’s located in such a quiet little complex that hardly anyone was there since it’s easily overlooked, but that isn’t a testament to how delicious their rolls are. I ordered the lemon pepper salmon roll and it was soooo satiable with the perfect amount of heat and flavor. Servers were attentive, the atmosphere is very calm, and overall I had a pleasant experience. The only thing that was off though was their miso soup, as it was lukewarm and you could tell because the miso powder wasn’t mixed very well. I ordered it so that I could clear my sinuses before indulging in sushi, so that part was a little disappointing. However, I’d still return!

Good sushi at at a reasonable price. Not sure what to say besides that everyone has different preferences when it comes to sushi but we had a few rolls and they were all good. My friend also ordered the dinner bento and the salmon was juicy and the teriyaki sauce was good. Try it out, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

I wanted to give this place a try since it’s so close to home. After seeing its high ratings and praise, I decided to give it a shot. To be completely honest, I was pretty disappointed. I tried the Korean BBQ Bento and the Spicy Ramen. The Bento box was just your typical Japanese dinner set. A couple dollars over than what I’ve seen at most places and nothing special in particular. Despite this, I would recommend getting a bento set to play it safe. The tempura was pretty crispy and they give you a generous portion. The salad dressing is also on point. It also came with a few pieces of california rolls, rice, and bbq beef. The bbg beef was lightly grilled and not too heavy. Bento box is alright. It also comes with a miso soup that isn’t too salty! However, the spicy ramen was extremely disappointing. I’ve eaten a lot of instant noodles during my college career and the spicy ramen looked and tasted like something I’ve made myself numerous times. I could even see the block of dried instant noodles still formed together in a short cylindrical block. I was really bothered by this. I basically paid $ 6.50 for something I eat all the time at home: Powder soup base, hot water, preserved noodles, high sodium. I literally have tons of these packed instant noodles in my pantry… The only thing different was probably that they added some steamed veggies to it… I was so sad… The service is a little slow at times, but the staff is very friendly and accommodating. And you get a free ice cream with the check in! Overall, this place is alright. I just personally probably won’t return because I feel like I’ve had better bentos at that price. Also that ramen experience… so sad… sad for days…

A friend recommended this place to me, and I am so glad they did. It was AMAZING. We had the Firestone and another I cannot recall, but they were both incredible. I really liked the Firestone, some would say it is hot, but not so much for me(I eat Ghost Peppers) Mike the owner was very attentive and made us feel welcome and appreciated. This is the kind of place I like going to for sushi, rather than chains or restaurants that offer sushi along with a everything else. I know I will be back again.

I’ve been to a few sushi places and by far this has been the best! Mike is amazing at what he does! I don’t even recall how many plates we ordered. I did get a kick out of our last plate though, the fire boat, because it scared the hell out of my girlfriend lol. I will definitely be coming back here very often! Great service Amazing food

This place has exactly what you need from a basic sushi restaurant. They have delicious rolls, soup, etc and the prices aren’t bad at all. Every time I come I order the Jalapeño Bombs and Las Vegas roll. Both delicious. I don’t get crazy exotic w. My choices. My husband loves just about every roll he’s tried here. The customer service here is great! Sometimes they take a while. Nothing extraordinary about this place so 4 stars!

Hi, After reading all the five star reviews on the place, we decided to stop by O Sushi and Grill for lunch last week after a round of golf a Via Verde Country Club. I have to say, I cannot really see just how it got sooo many five star reviews. The place really just was not that good… At least in our experience. Upon walking in, it is an unassuming little restaurant. We walked in at about 1:15 and were the only ones in the place. We were greeted promptly and offered one of the booths next to the wall. There is a small sushi bar with seating but since we were not necessarily having sushi we took the booth. We were given our menus, the drink order was taken and our drinks arrived promptly. The menu had a nice selection of choices but curiously had no teriyaki beef offered. I asked about it and was told they only offered the«Korean» beef. A bit weird I thought and settled on the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box for my lunch. The Bento box arrived promptly. The amount of food was good and the display nice. The box came with about 3 pieces of California Roll, Salad, Chicken Teriyaki, and Tempura. The salad was quite nice, cold and the dressing was pretty good. The Tempura was tasty. The batter crisp and the vegetables done to perfection. The California Roll was only ok and I thought three pieces was a bit skimpy of a portion(ever for a Bento Box). Definitely disappointed there. The teriyaki chicken was the biggest disappointment of all, especially as it was the«star» of the box. The amount of chicken was actually way more than I expected. The teriyaki sauce was actually very good. It was the dryness of the chicken that absolutely killed the meal. I would liken the consistency of the chicken to shoe leather. It was just so dry! I actually was only able to finish half.(which is not something that I ever do!) :-) Always clean your place my mother told us! :-) The nicest part of the lunch was the free ice cream you get with a Unilocal check-in! They gave it to everyone in our party, even though I was the only Unilocal member in our party that day. Don’t forget to check in or you will miss out! Ice cream, a little whipped cream, and a cherry! Very nice! The service in the restaurant was very good. My drink was never empty and that is very important to me. All in all, all I could bring myself to was to give O Sushi and Grill was three stars for this visit. The jury is out as to whether we will go back. Unfortunately, our search is still on for a really good Japanese Restaurant in the La Verne, San Dimas, Glendora area… Jim

Called ahead to see if mike could do something special for me. I wanted some sushi in spheres i guess they call them tamari and my girlfriend was upset that she missed a chance to get it during the one week or so that its readily available at mitsuwa. so I called ahead. had to try like three or four times because mike wasn’t there and the other servers didn’t seem to understand what I wanted… It’s a korean owned business and i don’t think many of the employees understand english too well.(no offense) anyway so I manged to get that down, came in and Mike had it made once i gave him the go ahead. My girlfriend was already happy at the cute plates that they have and when the tamari came out she was just smiling and speechless? We received 4 salmon and 4 yellow tail sushi which came out to about $ 8 and $ 9 respectively. pretty pricey but if it made her that happy i don’t really mind. Anyways we ordered the San Dimas roll after that and a poke salad and a nigori cocktail. The sushi was really god and it tasted fresh. The poke salad was really good. I probably wouldn’t get it again and would stick to rolls but maybe. It tasted great, just wasn’t filling enough to make it worth it. San Dimas roll was priced pretty fairly. A bunch of ingredients go into it for a relatively low cost for what it is… probably the roll where you get the most bang for your buck. Nigori cocktail was good, had a nice sugary beginning and a strong alcholic kick at the end. Tasted like a yogurt soda with some alcohol essentially. possibly calpico mixed with some ramune and sake or soju? no idea. Was good but, probably wouldn’t get it again. Complimentary green tea ice cream tasted like actual green tea ice cream. I had Mike substitute an ice cream for the orange thing that many other Unilocalers had posted about. Le girlfriend was happy about that as well. All in all, relatively expensive /above average cost but it was worth it for the experience. Such a shame that I was brought up in a way that still makes me regret splurging a bit for a nice meal… Actually i’m not sure if that’s just Asians or if it’s just life… eh. Lovely place for a date. they have a beautiful mural along the right hand wall of a painted tree, they have nice lights and everything is really clean. Highly recommend. The servers are friendly and helpful as well.

Fine Sushi dining in a part of San Dimas, California in which we have never ventured into, until we were having the Uni craves like Tyrone Biggums craves his crack rocks. Sunday night, sushi night: the place was busy but the sushi bar had open seats. The staff was able to get my wife her Kirin beer and I had ice water. We also received a complimentary eda mame to start with. The eda mame came out piping hot, too. I ordered an Unagi and Saba sushi to start and they were delicious! The white devil roll took a while but the texture and taste was well worth the wait. Our next sushi items were: seared tuna, uni, albacore, and a free salmon from our excellent sushi chef. We will go back here because we liked how attentive the servers were and how nice the sushi chefs are. They know their sushi and we endorse their superb service.

Pretty great, the seafood is super fresh, service attentive and fast. Although I did eat on a Monday night, so. We got a few amazing sushi plates, but the one that really stood out was the BSCR, freaking DELICIOUS baked scallops on top of a California roll. Don’t get too freaked out by the shady exterior, once you walk inside the cute décor and elevator-ey mood music will put you at ease.
