I absolutely love this place! And would recommend it to anyone! The teachers are amazing and teach in a way thats super easy to absorb all the information. I took the Phlebotomy course and it was super fun. Since the classes are small you get very close with your peers and receive all the attention necessary from the instructors. The staff is also amazingly nice and super helpful Melody and Melissa are the best secretaries in the world! Thank you all for all your help! Love you guys!

I’m currently a student at U.S. Colleges. I am taking the Clinical Medical Assistant Course and so far it has been the best College Environment I have ever experienced. Even before I was officially enrolled at U.S. Colleges, I visited the school to see what exactly they had to offer in terms of programs, course layout, class scheduled times, learning environment and just the overall vibe of the school as a whole. To my surprise, on the day I decided to visit the school, the first person to approach me when I entered the school was the Admissions Representative Matt M. He immediately came off as a friendly, easy going, very welcoming individual. We then proceeded to his office where he explained to me in detail what U.S. Colleges has to offer in terms of education, certifications and what I can expect to achieve while furthering my education. Matt (Admissions Rep) also gave me a detailed tour of the school, classrooms, laboratory rooms etc. I visited 3 other schools before U.S. Colleges and was not given a tour by any of the other schools. Needless to say, it made making my decision to pick U.S. Colleges that much easier.
Fast forward about 1 month and 1 week to present day. My experience so far has been amazing. I look forward to arriving at school each day to an amazing group of classmates that make the experience so much more fulfilling, fun and an overall positive learning environment for everyone. My instructor Mrs. La Desma is an amazing kind person that’s charismatic, detailed, open minded and highly qualified to be an instructor. I can honestly say I have nothing negative to say about my experience so far as a student at U.S. Colleges. I highly recommend this school to anyone who’s looking to get into the medical field wether it be phlebotomy, medical assisting or any of the several programs they offer at U.S. Colleges.

This place is extremely frustrating!
I went to this school for Phlebotomy tech level 1. I needed it because the MLT program requires you to have the certificate to take the course. I chose this school because it has a night course. Maritza, the teacher is really good. She is a little intense in the lab because she doesn’t want you to hurt anyone or get yourself hurt. She is the only great thing that comes from going to this school
They tell you that it is a «6 week course» to a certificate. This is a LOAD OF CRAP! I started the class on June 6. The classes ended on July 10. I took my NCCT exam on August 22. I did my externship in September at the MCRD. I am still waiting for my NCCT certification.
The reason that I am waiting for my NCCT certification still is because US College has not paid for my exam or turned in my necessary paper work to obtain my certification. I am at a stand still. I call them twice a week and I get the same run around. «this will be taken cared of by the end of the week» «we were bought from a new company and the new company has not paid for those exams» excuse after, excuse, after excuse!
I don’t understand as to why mine was not paid for. My classmate that took the NCCT exam on the same day I did already has her NCCT certificate and she is now waiting on her State certification. The State certification takes up to three months to obtain.
So if you think that you are going to get a new JOB in 6 weeks think again!!!
Do yourself a favor don’t take short cuts! Go to Grossmont College and take their course. It is THOUSANDS time cheaper then this crap school.
If after reading this and you still want to use US Colleges just know that if they say they are going to call you back they won’t! Also be on top of your education. CALL CALL CALL! Use the Study classes with Tony before you take your NCCT. He helps you pass!

I took the Clinical Medical Assistant course here at U.S. Colleges and overall I think it was a great program. From my initial conversation and walk through with Jeremy Renner, I felt that he genuinely cared about my well being and my education. He was eager to get me into the program but also wanted to make sure this would be a good fit for me, my schedule and my life. Jeremy allowed me to sit in on a class so that I could make an informed decision. He was an awesome Admissions Director.
From there, my teacher was an RN she was a very knowledgeable person. She was a jokester and that was sometimes okay and really bad. Nevertheless, the class was extremely hands on. My very first day as a student I did injections. We did injections on each other and I was able to do some injections on my teacher. It was interesting, fast paced, and hands on. What I feel is the necessary kind of training one needs to make it in the medical field. When you are out in the «real world» you are going to be working in a fast paced, hands on environment.
My externship was for a month long. I went to a site in Paradise Valley. I learned more front office skills but didn’t use many of my back office skills. I would have loved a site that would have allowed me to be more hands on with the back office skills but I do appreciate the fact that I could add the front office skills to my resume which makes me look more marketable in applying for jobs.
The staff has had some major changes which has been great for the school. Some of the previous staff members didn’t seem like they wanted to be there or liked their job, however the new team is amazing, very helpful, full of information, and willing and ready to make sure you succeed in the job field. They offer resume assistance, job placement assistance, giving you all the tools you need to go and land a great job. Also, for the Phlebotomy students the school offers open labs where they can go in for an hour and practice their sticks, so that they will have the experience to place on their resume. I don’t know of any school that will allow you to do that. I believe the MA students can go in as well because we too learned how to draw blood in our class too.
Overall I think the revamping of U.S. Colleges was good, although I miss Jeremy around, the new campus is great, its bigger than the last. It’s not on a community college or on a University level but it is bigger than where the old campus was. It’s clean, the staff is friendly and the new MA teacher is phenomenal, so full of information, very hands on, teaches you real life things you will learn and deal with on the job, very patient, and is willing to help and tutor students, past and present. Every school will have its problems, but I think the outcome is what really matters. If you’re looking for a school that cares, that helps you, that will do what it can to make sure you succeed then this may be the school for you. Classes are short but filled with lots of information, staff is great, and the location is awesome. Check it out for yourself!

I did pass the NCCT exam (the national exam). The very last part of the class the instructor read a bunch of questions and had us answer them. Turns out that those questions were the very same questions on the national exam! I got a 90%. I dunno whether this draws the line between review and cheating as the questions and their answer choices were exactly the same between the review session and the test.
Veronica (the externship coordinator) came in at the first part of the last day of class and assigned those people eligible for externship our dates and the assigned site. I couldn’t do my originally scheduled time, so I called Veronica to schedule me at a different time, closer to the end of July (7÷23−8÷3). She called me again to confirm my availability for the externship, but she had me down to start ⁸⁄₆. I couldn’t do anytime after August, so I had to tell her that we discussed having me start around July 23. She said that the switch was possible, but I had to go to orientation at US Colleges the next day. Tip: Show up to the externship site in scrubs and shoes.
I got screwed in my externship site selection as they put me in Hillcrest and I live in Chula Vista. Apparently there was someone that lived way out in East County and they had to put that person in Chula Vista so that it would be the least inconvenient for that person. I had no choice as I had something that started in the beginning of August and I couldn’t be in externship for the entire month.
Externship site was very patient and I had a great staff that showed me various techniques that helped made my draws easier. I got around 70ish successful draws total, though I had a bunch of misses. It turns out that the techs that were training me were in programs that were at the very least several months in duration. For their training, they went on multiple externship sites for their clinical training. As much as US Colleges strives to provide people a chance to learn phlebotomy technique, this further proves that US Colleges only cares about the bottom line, the pass rate of their students and not so much about giving them the real skills and confidence needed to really make it in phlebotomy.
After completion of the externship, as Jeremy had just left and there was a new director in charge, requests to do the final paperwork to submit to NCCT and CADPH (California state licensure) were made on appointment-​only basis AND only done on Tuesdays. Luckily I called in on a Monday. I was not helped by Veronica but by an old lady from corporate who was filling in until the new front office lady was to start tomorrow. She was very nice and basically filled out my CA state phlebotomy licensure application for me. Knowing first hand that dealing with CADPH is pure HELL (I am a MLT student and a prospective CLS applicant), it’s nice to know that at least US Colleges will deal with all application-​related issues should they come up.
A week later, I got a letter in the mail from NCCT saying that they cannot release my certificate as they didn’t have all the paperwork. I placed a call to Veronica, which she responded that a person in NCCT is responsible for processing the application for US Colleges students. Everything would be taken care of and I shouldn’t worry about the letter. She told me that she will get in touch with corporate to ensure that all my paperwork was sent.
To those people who are only interested in phlebotomy: PLEASE consider another program that would give you more hands-​on time with phlebotomy, as one externship isn’t enough to give you the experience you really need to do well in phlebotomy. Consider a program that would take several months to complete and would ensure you at the least 100 draws. Only consider this program if you are doing this as a requirement to get into one of the two MLT programs in SD or if you are enhancing your application for CLS training programs.

The Clinical Medical Assistant program is great. The instructor is an RN, has tons of experience, and really cares about your education and future employment possibilities. I really recommend this program. The administration needs some work, but the instructor is nonetheless one of a kind! ;-)
