I’m going to start by saying, why did I take so long to finally come here. Since I’ve discovered I love this place I’ve been here handful of times. I love how they made their own special menu according to the fraternity and sorority since they are in college area. I’ve tried 3 of the 21 on the special menu and I would have to say they were all extremely good! Their meat isn’t fatty(which I love) and It has flavor. The cashiers are all nice, one even gave me a few of her recommendations. which is rare from a taco shop. So far I can say that everything think I’ve eaten here has been on point. Regular menu : Rolled tacos, Cali burrito, cheese quesadilla, carne Asada burrito, hard&soft taco. Special menu : nak burrito, sigma crunch wrap, phi psi special burrito.

Best burritos around SDSU! Literally the size and length of my forearm. College fraternity burritos are the best. A bit expensive but definitely worth it! Parking is almost impossible(only 3 spots by the restaurant) but a quick walk from parking around the corner. Peter is really funny and food is made fast!

1st time at this location. Usually go to the one on college ave. unfortunately they don’t have all the crazy«greek life» combos from the other location but food is just as good! Usually get the half carne asada had pollo asada fries. Not the best in San Diego in my opinion, but def a good spot!

Terrible! We have tried going here a few times but they have all been negative experiences. The order is never ready when you go to pick it up. When you call in a order they don’t start it until you’ve arrived. Even when you repeatedly ask them to. The food is usually hit or miss and tonight’s food was simply awful. The chicken burrito had a chalky consistency and the quesadilla had very greasy, sparse chicken and little avocado in it… it was really all tortilla and cheese. This place is in our neighborhood and we want to support local businesses but the food quality and service are seriously lacking. I’m all done with this place, we’ve given them to many chances.

Quick and easy Mexican food. Can’t go wrong here and the portions are huge! We got the carne asada fries, carne asada burrito, and taquitos. Fresh ingredients and the meat is nicely seasoned. My niece is 7 and is a picky eater but she love it here. Simple and delicious.

My husband and I stop here for lunch once or twice a month. Their burritos wrapped in quesadillas are pretty hard to beat! Service is always friendly, and there’s been no flinching with any additions/subtractions we’ve made for customization. The pricing is a little high but it’s 100% worth it because their quality is higher than most other taco shops. A drink is included with most of the specials, so you have to factor that in too. This location is much easier to get in and out of, and has way more parking. I haven’t been back to the location closer to campus once I learned of this one.

Great food! Soooooo delicious, but holy sweet dog shit it takes forever to get your food. Their peak time is after all the bars close, which makes sense, but they only have two cooks who only give half a fuck each. Two cooks, one fuck doesn’t equal good service. I waited an hour and 10 minutes for a burrito on a Thursday night. It’s insane. Dear Trujillos, Your food is amazing, your staff is friendly and awesome, there is just FARFAR too few of them during your peak hours. Hire more cooks!!!

Horrible service. I called 40 min ahead of time and still had to wait 10 min for my food. .06−10

My husband got takeout here, bringing me back a sigma chi crunchwrap with a horchata. It was heaven. After eating it, I was perfectly content and food coma’ed. HEAVEN. I have also had the sigma nu burrito as takeout from their other location which has terrible parking. Points to this place for being accessible! Anyway, both items are awesome. I think I might actually prefer the crunchwrap, but it’s hard to decide. These are food porn. They are a dream come true. I have described them to others trying to explain and they either look dreamy or disgusted but I tell you, try these!!!

I’ve been coming to Trujillos for 4 years and I still haven’t gotten tired of this place. There was a time when I came in a week straight and I still haven’t had enough of their carne asada fries. I first went to the original location on College Ave, and when I found out that they were opening another bigger location across the street from my apartment, I was ecstatic. Trujillos has been satisfying my mexican food cravings ever since I started coming here. Their carne asada fries are amazing, but I come here for the Sigma Chi Crunch Wrap($ 9). It’s basically like having a california burrito with with a crunchy tostada wrapped inside. It definitely gives a different texture to a favorite item. You can’t really get that anywhere else, so it’s something for you to try if you decide to come here to eat. The crunch wrap also comes with a drink! The staff is always so friendly. They have always taken our orders with a smile and are very patient when we debate between choosing the carne asada fries and the crunch wrap. This place seems to be a lot less busy than the original location, but that’s because it’s so far off from campus. But hey, that means shorter lines if at all.

Well, The cashier was very nice. But… I Guess u get you pay for. Asked for guac, salsa & sour cream on the side. Ended up with salsa inside the burrito and guacamole & sour cream on top of burrito. Dead inside, perfect for my 3 year old!

1st — this is the ONLY place my boyfriend ever wants to eat. By far, some of the best Mexican food we’ve found in San Diego. Our favorites: Chicken Sigma Pi & Steak Sigma Nu. The Sigma Nu is ridonculous, & may be what kills my boyfriend at the age of 25. It’s a quesadilla california burrito essential with a taquito in the middle. The Sigma Pi — basically the same thing, minus the taquito.(The taquito in the middle is just a little much for me.) I can’t even believe how long we’ve been driving to the location on College Ave, when this one is literally a 10min walk from our apartment. Burritos are approximated $ 8 a piece with a drink included. Compared to the other location on College, it is also hardly busy. And when we call to pick-up, it’s always ready for pick-up. Thank you for having your shit together El Cajon Blvd location. However, I do feel this location is a little hit or miss sometimes. Most of the times — our burritos are the best damn things in San Diego. But every once in awhile, I’m not really sure what they are trying to sell me as «chicken.» My friend assures me this ‘mysterious meat scenario’ is a tell-tale sign of an excellent authentic mexican food place. She may be right… lol but still, always kinda weirds me out.

I stopped by only because I BOUGHT a promotion that this company agreed to offer. Actually I bought several to bring friends by over the next few months to expose them to this restaurant and the one at SDSU. 20 minutes later after showing my discount to endless restaurant family owners/staff via video phone, pictures, etc who said they are not honoring the promotion because they are not aware of it, only at the fortitude of the onsite manager who used social media, texting and both cell and landline phones did she get confirmation that they did in fact approve a promotion. By now I was invested in my time and was intent on getting fed, dammit. While extremely annoyed at arguing with some guy on the manager’s iphone that this was real, i did appreciate her tenacity. She’s a gorgeous woman who should probably be modeling instead of slinging burritos to raucous college boys. Seriously that pretty. I digress. Of the three burritos I ordered, two for take home, the carne asada was really great, and i asked for extra grilled onions and the chef obliged. Bottom line, good food, pretty big portions, but I did not care for the fully packed breakfast burrito(cooked well but just too many flavors that made it feel like I was just stuffing the belly for energy) and the chile rellano burrito I had the next day was nearly all rice. That was extremely disappointing, as I love chile rellano recipes. But that carne asada burrito the next night was darn good. It was a treat. The restaurant apparently and verbally confirmed they felt cheated by my certificate, I felt cheated by the hassle to use the certificate that I paid for AND the for the two mediocre burritos. As I left with my take home I was told they would not honor the other two certificates I bought. Yikes! Hopefully we are«even» on the«felt cheated» scale and I can try them again under less stressful circumstances some day. If it were not for the two nice ladies onsite, in spite of the bull regarding the cert, I would have walked out in disgust. When I get a carne asada craving I will be back, with full cash. ;-)

I usually go to this place because it’s convenient for Me to walk over on my lunch break. The past two Times my debit card has been over charged. I had to dispute the charges with my bank. I told the cashier the first time It happen and she told me «many customers have been complaining and the owner is aware». So I gave them another shot. A few days later looking at my online banking account I have three charges all in the same day from Trujillos, I called them to report my problem and I don’t even get an apology! She took down my phone number and said she will give it to the manager. I still haven’t received a phone call… I work close to this this restaurant and keep there menu flyers at my job, but now I will not be giving them anymore business until this issue is resolved. It sad because I recommend at least 3 new customers to them daily. Hopefully management will read this.

People who know me understand that when they go for food & I say I don’t want anything, they might want to bring me back something. If they don’t, I’ll just keep asking for bites of their food. That’s how, while staying at the HoJos on El Cajon, I ended up trying Trujillos. I was brought a chicken soft taco and a chicken crispy taco. I’m usually more of a soft taco gal but not this time. The soft taco was good, don’t get me wrong but I’m not used to gauc, lettuce etc… the soft tacos I get are usually a standard street taco… Meat with cilantro, onions & maybe some salsa verde. The crispy taco had yummy stewed chicken, lettuce, pico & cheese. The taco shell was crispy but not at all greasy. The cheese was a thin shred, which I love. The lettuce crisp & the pico had a good amount of cilantro. I LOVE cilantro. I ordered the crispy chicken taco again tonight and still felt much love. I had a couple bites of the Carne Asada Sigma Nu which is basically carne asada, gauc, sour cream, salsa & fries in a cheese quesadilla wrapped like a burrito around a rolled taco. Not on the American Heart Association menu but oh wow, DELICIOUS! Going for a breakfast burrito before heading out of SD tomorrow, yay! The next day(9⁄7) After checking out of HoJos we went over to Trujillos one last time. We placed our order & it took a bit longer than before cuz they were using the flat top to sear up a bunch of tomatillos. Can’t hate on that. I got the bacon breakfast burrito & yeah, another hit from Trujillos! Thick sliced bacon, eggs, cheese & french fries wrapped in a HUGE tortilla. I managed to eat about 1⁄3& now have the rest for breakfast tomorrow. Total score!

Trujillo’s opened a second taco shop up near the college area not too long ago. When passing by I’ve always noticed they are never really too busy. That’s too bad because like the old Trujillo’s, this place is pretty good. They have ample parking off the street and a very large inside dining area( ) unlike their college ave counterpart. They kept the same menu( ) and special offerings that relate to the local college crowd. I came into Trujillo’s on a Saturday evening, and like usual the place was really dead. This time I was willing to try something a bit more conservative, rather than one of their huge Sigamu Nu burritos like I had last time. I’ve been digging breakfast burritos lately and Trujillo’s has you covered for several different types. The friendly lady at the register was more than happy to send me on my way with a breakfast burrito and some rolled tacos. There was no problems in receiving a large amount of hot sauce, she had no issue in giving me a «crap load» of hot sauce. I had decided on their bacon breakfast burrito which came default with eggs, cheese and potatoes. So sad I had to have them add some beans, who even gets breakfast burritos with them anyhow? The burrito( ) was a decent size and was more than enough to fill me up. They cook their bacon pretty good, not too crispy but enough to give the inside the burrito a good texture. Instead of regular potatoes they used french fries which is more than acceptable, not too much though. The hot sauce was a bit watery, but did its job at providing great extra taste to the food. The rolled tacos here( ) were pretty decent as well, with real guacamole and plenty of refreshing lettuce and pico de gallo on top. I personally don’t like melted cheese on the rolled tacos, so it was nice to see a good amount of cheese on top as well. Just like the other Trujillo’s off College Ave., this one hits the spot for a taco shop near my neighborhood. Its great to see they have another location so you don’t have to fight for parking and when dining in you can have big groups. I’m sure their other location does way better business because of walking distance to SDSU, but I’d rather come here any day.
