My daughter is a Level 7 gymnast at TRC South. She has been here for 8 months now and we are very happy with the coaching staff. They are inspiring, motivating, and full of positive energy. I really could not hope for better coaching staff. I feel confident that she is the right environment where she can grow her skills and be adequately challenged. The front office staff is professional, friendly and helpful. Their door is always open to answer questions. The parents and kids have all been very friendly and welcoming. We came from a gym where the recreational kids had priority over the equipment during the entire practice and occupied the majority of the space… along with Boys team. At TRC South the recreational kids finish 30 minutes after Girls team practice starts, allowing the team to have full access to the equipment for the remaining 3 ½ hours of practice, which is wonderful! The gym is always clean and the parents viewing area upstairs has free WiFi and a open view of the gym– there are no glass windows. The only area we can’t see is the beam, but there are video monitors. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quality team program for your daughter! There was a parent who left negative comments from 2013. The gym has completely changed since that time, with new coaches and new management. As far as lack of handicap accessibility, I’m sure the coaches would allow someone in a wheelchair to view practice from downstairs.

My daughter has been going to TRCSOUTH for about a month now. We’ve had a pleasant experience thus far. Registration was super easy and Dawnette has been super sweet and has made us feel very welcome. The coaches are very hands on and make it really fun. They have a nice area for parents to watch and cameras and TV’s so you can always see what’s going on in the different sections of the gym. Oh and there’s AC up there!!! Huge plus! They also have toys my 20 month old daughter can play with while we wait for big sis. Overall, this place is awesome and my daughter loves it!

Very disappointed. There is not much of a choice for gymnastics in Carmel valley having relocated here from Northern California I was hoping to find a similar gym as the one my daughter was in for almost 4 years. TRC does not compare at all:( First there is a long wait list. So we began with private lessons while waiting for her name to reach an open spot. The first private lesson we arrived to the coach did not show up. The next week I believe she was 10 minutes late another time she was even later – so the owner did not charge us.(Private lesson is $ 1 per min). During the summer we were on our way to her private lesson when the coach called me to tell me it was canceled due to the summer camp(we were at the exit in Solana beach when i got the call 5 mins before her lesson was to start.) During this time she began class lessons @ TRC South. In the beginning class was good, not too many girls and the coach, Marie was great. As time wore on the class got bigger and new, different coaches joined. Marie then began coaching a level 2. My daughter was in level 1. My daughter began to lose interest in gymnastics and said she didn’t want to go any more. This made me sad because she is athletic and has always loved gymnastics. My 8 year old daughter did a trial class in the level 2 and in the end it was decided she would move up into the level 2 group(the coach, myself and my daughter made this decision). This made her excited and she had a renewed interest in gymnastics. But the next day I received a voice message informing me «the coaches had a little pow wow after and decided they wanted her back to level 1». I am shocked. Why tell her she’s in level 2, allow her that excitement to then take it away and disappoint her? I don’t know what the«skills» are that she’s lacking for level 2 I watched the whole class and she looked like she fit in just fine. she is a high energy girl and thrives on structure. The newer coaches in level 1 are not strong leaders and they lack the skills to actually«coach» the girls. They supervise them as they do drills etc with them but I honestly haven’t seen any growth in my daughter’s gymnastic abilities since she began. Not only that but I realize she is no longer cartwheeling and hand standing her day away as she was always doing before. She’s lost her passion for gymnastics:( The TRC South gym has terrible viewing I can only see minimal amounts of her class. The viewing area has no wheelchair access(it’s upstairs) and they had no a/c on nor do they offer free with fi. The doors to the viewing area are a hazard, they don’t shut properly, they slam and it’s extremely loud but more so an accident waiting to happen with all the little siblings and older grandparents entering and exiting thru them. There is one bathroom for use in the gym which can make for a very long wait for the girls, or anyone in need. They don’t have uniforms for the girls in classes nor do they sell gym wear. I give it 2 stars because the price is decent $ 82 for 160 min class a week. If your daughter just wants to have fun it’s fine for that. I just wouldn’t have very high expectations for TRC South. As of now my daughter is turned off of gymnastics and sadly this is due to her experience at TRC.(I just paid for this month and now she thought she was a level 2 and she doesn’t want to return to the level 1. So the level 2 «trial» class, which normally would be no charge, cost me $ 82.(The annual insurance fee is also reasonable).

My daughter is a competitive gymnast, and was at another competitive gym that changed coaches every other month. The people that own TRC are coaches, and they really care about their girls. My daughter has made so much progress. Thanks TRC
