–Outstanding friendly and accomodating communication –Excellent pizza order-to-pickup service –Very good pizza flavor –Combo was a hit with the meat-eaters –Vegetarian«Plus» was a hit with the vegetable-eaters Joey worked with me again on another group pizza lunch. Ten pizzas were ready to take back to the office, enjoyed by all with great compliments. Everyone was stuffed, with one combo pizza left. The vegetarian +garlic +basil + spinach was piled high and tasted great. Two thumbs up. Thanks Joey, for baking great pizzas. We will be back again soon.

The husband wanted to take me out to dinner and we decided to try something new. When we first walked in I was impressed with the décor, it was very classy. Restaurant was more than half empty yet the first thing we were asked as we walked in was if we had reservations which was a bit off putting but oh well I’ll assume they get packed every weekend. We sat on the right side of the restaurant and I really loved all the wood work and paintings on the tables, I thought it looked like a nice ship. The bread they bring looked like store bought soft white dinner rolls but they were cut in half toasted and rubbed with a parsley garlic butter so they were pretty tasty but crusty Italian bread would be even better. Service was wonderful, our waitress and food runner/bus boy were both very attentive and friendly stopping by often to check in or refill drinks without asking. I had the eggplant milanese with minestrone soup, I should have had salad because the soup was very bland. The eggplant on the other had was amazing and a huge portion enough for lunch the next day. Perfectly fried and not greasy at all with so much crunch and flavor. It was served with marinara which I’m not usually a big fan plus theirs was quite acidic. We finished with tiramisu which was epic and the best we have ever had. It had a generous amount of sponge not overpowered by liquor or coffee with just the right amount of creamy filling just sweet enough and served with fresh strawberries and whipped cram. Can’t wait to go back!

If you are looking for a good Italian restaurant in San Diego look no further. This has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. I live in Vista and will drive all the way to enjoy a wonderful Italian dinner with family and friends. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is amazing. So if you are a local or visiting San Diego make sure to stop off at the Venetian to enjoy yourself a fantastic Italian dinner. You won’t be sorry!

This Point Loma staple has been here for many years and is a local favorite. We catch a quick meal here when we are in the area. The atmosphere is evocative of the«rat pack» restaurants of my New Jersey youth: great food, traditional Italian décor and a great bar(they make a wonderful martini, which is my gold standard). Our server, Gabby, was adorable and helpful and our busboy, Caleb, was equally charming. We love to connect with the servers and hear their stories. The entrees took awhile to arrive but we consoled ourselves with the ample portion of garlic bread(delish). My husband ordered the veal picatta(hold the capers) and he loved it. My manicotti was quite good, but could have used more mozzarella. All in all, a great experience, and we will definitely return.

Oh Point Loma, why didn’t you ever tell thee??? I love this restaurant! I had no idea this cute little delicious restaurant existed! I enjoyed the best chicken piccata and I enjoyed everything about this place! Great service, decent prices, the whole nine! Loved it! If you love Italian, gotta give this place a shot!

Visiting San Diego this weekend and wanted some good Italian. Did a Unilocal search and came across The Venetian. It had good reviews, and did not disappoint! The service was excellent, and food was amazing! I would highly recommend anyone who likes classic Italian to try out this cool, tasty restaurant! Thanks for a great meal! I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

My sister and I wanted to treat our mom to dinner for a belated mothers day but decided to do take out as my sister broke her foot and was having trouble with getting around. I picked up the food and was impressed by how nice the restaurant was, although I cant speak much to their service as I was only there for a short bit of time. The food in general was pretty good, we ordered the eggplant parmesan, and two spaghettis one with pesto and grilled chicken and one with marinara. I literally had so much red sauce on my spaghetti that I actually a few days later cooked some extra pasta and used the leftover red sauce for another serving of pasta! I thought the prices were a tad high but overall the food was tasty, and the sides of pasta I ordered were really huge. I would definitely plan to return in the future!

I used to love this place and dined there often but I moved inland so that dropped off. Went there last week while the way to drop off a friend at SAN — got a Works pizza to share and a couple of beers. The good — really frosty glasses and cold Stella Artois, plus good service. The not-so-good was the pizza; good crispy crust, covered in cheese and meat but was short of onions, peppers and olives. What I really missed was seasoning — couldn’t detect much of any oregano, garlic or related. Maybe it was an off-day? Not sure about a return…

5⁄5 We were wanting to host a small wedding reception without the stress of planning and preparing food. We had shopped around but no one had offered an intimate dining experience without sacrificing flexibility or menu items. I was surprised that I was able to work with the owners immediately and didn’t have to go through an event coordinator-middle man. The owners Joey and Frank were personable and incredibly accommodating. They worked with our modest budget and allowed us to dine in comfort, even permitting us to dine in their private dining wine cellar outside the restaurant’s business hours. The servers were friendly and attentive. We didn’t want for anything. For this wedding weekend we wanted it to be fun and stress-free: thank you everyone at Venetian for their warm service. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice space, great food, and even greater service.

The best pizzas ever! Not to forget to mention a great ambiance, wine selection and everything else I’ve ever had is great too. The service rocks! Local family and friends. Unbeatable. I had my birthday dinner parties here for many years on Valentine’s Day. I’m about overdue for a visit to Joey, Frank and the crew.

This is my favorite place in the whole world for Pizza. I grew up just around the corner, in fact my mother still live there and when I visit the Venetian is a must. Of course I usually eat the same thing, sausage and mushroom pizza, it’s the boom.

I have to give the owner(and the delivery driver) of The Venetian their due credit. My husband picked up takeout from them tonight and they forgot dressing for my shrimp Caeser salad. We all know that the only reason you ever order Caeser salad is for the yummy homemade dressing, because without it its really just lettuce and cheese. Needless to say, I was a little upset I was going to have to eat my $ 17 salad with lemon juice. My husband called to tell them– they handed the phone directly to the owner. I guess I was hoping for $ 5 gift card or dessert next time we came in or something… The owner not only sent a driver over with dressing, the guy was here within 10 minutes, he also sent a delicious bottle of wine along with him. The driver was super nice about it, too… I pretty much had to shove him out my door to make him take a tip– he kept trying to give it back. The food– as usual– was amazing. Cheers Joe, I’m a customer for life

My girlfriend and I arrived to a very busy restaurant but to my surprise with no reservation we were sat right away by a very friendly hostess. Our server Gaby was at our table within one minute, and was friendly and informative. We tried some scallops, a pizza, and pasta, each course more delicious than the next. This place has great atmosphere for a family gathering or(like me) date night. What struck me was how attentive and hands on the owner Joey was! He came by to introduce himself and later stopped by to see how we were enjoying everything. You don’t get that kind of service anymore.

Cozy family Italian restaurant. Tasty old-school pizzas, pastas, salad, etc. Favorites are the clam linguine, pesto pasta, chicken Parmesan and all pizzas. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Lots of regular customers. Our good friends even got engaged here, which was very sweet. They deliver too, which is a nice option!

I haven’t been here for a few years and I forgot how good the food was. My wife and I shared the Cantiloni and we loved it. Our friends had the Lasagna and just raved about how good it was. We both shared salads and they were very good. We can’t wait to go back.

This restaurant is a big plus to San Diego ! I had a large party of 14 visitors from back east come in at a very busy holiday time of the week so I cannot not give them a 5 star rating as the food(all 14 plates) were outstanding as well as the service ! I highly recommend this family owned diamond of a place ! Our big party will be back at the next ship christening in San Diego. Thank-you Joey for taking our party on such short notice ! They loved the place !

Really was not impressed with this place. Service was in friendly and not personal. Walked in and had to ask to be seated. Also the food was not great. I had the chicken Parmesan and was way to large for one person and the save was really salty.

Solid 4 star Italian joint. The service was good and the meal was good. Front door was actually the back door lol. I go to European cake gallery often and never stopped in this place to eat before. I’m glad I tried it will defiantly be back when I’m in the neighborhood and want some pasta.

My husband and I went here from out of town. We loved it! The hostess was super sweet because we weren’t expecting traffic so I called several times to change the time. The waiter was attentive and informative. They let me taste a wine before I chose to buy a glass which was super awesome. The appetizer bruschetta & prosciutto was delicious. My entrée manicotti which I replaced with a rose cream garlic sauce was amazing as well as my husbands shrimp scampi. But the atmosphere in the booths with the lighting was the best part. Love romantic atmospheres and friendly service.

This(former) Jersey girl/east coaster had her first Californian Italian meal at the Venetian. Having lived in Central Jersey most of my life, I have very high standards for Italian food. And the Venetian did not disappoint. Let’s start with the garlic bread. It’s always nice(and necessary) to have bread with an Italian meal, but garlic bread goes above and beyond. It wasn’t smothered it garlic or butter, but had the perfect amount to top the crispy pieces of bread. Upon hearing the description of the soup de jour, my entire party went with the lentil. It was a nice Italian style lentil that wasn’t overpowered by lentil or overly thick, rather it was more of a broth base with tons of veggies. For my main, I went with the cannelloni and it was made exactly how a good cannelloni should be. A nice pasta wrap filled with beef, spinach and cheese. It was a nice portion, but I couldn’t stop eating it and finished my meal. We don’t have much room left, but split a cannoli for the table. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and a nice size to split. The service made me feel like I was at Italian restaurant back home, because she was hospitable and made our table feel like we were at home. This review has been approved by a(former) Jersey girl.

There pizza is filling and delicious! Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in San Diego. The pizza has a traditional crust but it’s fillings are like a deep dish. So glad our friend Brian D. recommended this place!

I have been here twice now, including tonight. I have gotten the same thing each time: veal parmesan. I’m from the East Coast and this dish is authentic East Coast Italian goodness. I would highly recommend it! The staff at the restaurant is very friendly, the ambiance is warm and comfortable. I met the owner tonight and he is very passionate about the food they prepare and service they provide. I can respect that. There lentil soup is tasty. The garlic bread flavor is on the plain side, but the bread itself is very good.

Man… I can still taste the food! My sister-in-law lives dang near right across the street and it was a no-brainer for a last minute dinner choice. Showed up without a reservation on a Friday and sat right down. Took FOREVER to make a choice because I was too busy trying to figure out what all the other patrons had ordered as their dinners were taken to their tables. Everything looked excellent! Decided on a calamari piccata with a side of pesto pasta. Excellent! Choice selection of beers and wines, but settled on a Sculpin. Went perfectly with my dinner choice. My wife mistakenly thought I would help her with her dinner. I was slammed. I couldn’t stop until my calamari and pesto was history. Oh well, hers tasted great the following day. The staff… Easy description. They made you feel right at home. I’ve eaten here before, but it was years and years ago. Don’t know why I hadn’t visited recently, but that is definitely settled. The Venetian is my Italian restaurant of choice… for sure…

Best tip for eating at the Venetian: COMEHUNGRY! FOOD: The portions at this place are so big, we each got a second dinner out of our leftovers. We ordered the antipasto plate to start, and it was an awesome combination of marinated veggies, salami, cheese, and toast. After that and our salads, we were stuffed! But we still had to make our way through a spicy shrimp linguine, delicious chicken piccata, and creamy farfalle pasta. Every dish was done to perfection. My only question was why, when you’re called«The Venetian,» don’t you have squid ink pasta on the menu? WINE: Wine list has great prices. Ordered the house Chianti for $ 28/btl and it was perfectly dry. They let us take half of our second bottle home to enjoy on our patio. SERVICE: Open Table reservation didn’t hit their system, but they still seated us right away on a busy Friday night. Talk about amazing customer service! Quick attention by the waitstaff and bussers as well. This is our new favorite neighborhood restaurant!

Walked right in and was seated in a booth. Ordered a bottle of wine while asking for water, got the bottle minus the water. I think we also had various waiters\waitresses so they must do it community style. After ordering the fettuccine alfredo and lasagna, garlic bread was brought out. The bread was no go, very very amateur hour for an Italian restaurant. The alfredo was a bit tasteless and the chicken was dry and burnt. The accompanied salad has the incorrect dressing. The only plus side to this night was the bottle of wine and the Lasagna was very very very good!!! :D so basically i didn’t touch my alfredo but ate up the lasagna.

This place is amazing. Food is off the charts. For appetizers you have to get the scallops. Biggest scallops I’ve seen, seared to perfection and the sauce is incredible. Also veal parmesana and calamari piccata ridiculously good. Can’t forget tiramisu, not your ordinary tiramisu, definitely a must have. As for staff, they are all super friendly and attentive. Our server Gaby is a freakin rockstar at what she does, knows her menu and took great care of us. Also Joey, one of the owners, gave us a tour of the place and gave us VIP treatment. Definitely check this place out. We had no idea it was here because it doesn’t stand out from the outside. But I guess all the best places must remain hidden. So glad we found it. We will be back for sure. Thank you everybody at The Venetian, you all made my date night go perfectly.
