Honestly the best barber shop I’ve ever been too. I had been searching for a good barber for a long time and found what i was looking for. It’s on India Street kiddy corner to El Camino just inside the James Coffee Co. building.(Also equally great coffee). Superb atmosphere, nice comfy chairs, big pendent lights, glass windows and raw wood walls. They take their time and make sure your hair is how you want it and how also it should be. Typical cut can take around 45mins but well worth it. The straight razor clean up feels amazing and leaves you with smooth skin. Professional, clean and spot on with the old school styling. Everyone is kind, thoughtful and knows their trade well. In addition to a great cut the have a great selection of mens grooming tools: Hair pomades, razors, beard balms, oils, even their own brand of after shave and soap! I bought a safety razor last time i got a hair cut and they took the time to answer any questions I had. This place elevates mens grooming. True craftsman. Would highly recommend to anyone.

My husband has been looking for a good barber for the last ten years and he finally found one! He was attended by Omar, a young and hip San Diego local. He felt like Omar took his time to do a quality job and really got to know his hair. The appointment took about an hour and it’s by appointment only.

I’m a chick so I’ve never had my hair cut here but my sister and I go to a coffee shop right next to this barber shop and every time someone comes out of there we say, FRESH! The dudes come out looking freakin fresh! So holler at them if you want to look like a man and not a sissy boy!

It took me almost a year to find a barbershop in San Diego that I could leave feeling satisfied with my haircut and the money I spent on it. I frequent the Little Italy location because the building is much more than a place to get a hair cut. James Coffee, Homesteez and Ajax Men’s boutique make this place a true experience. Cory has been cutting my here since I started coming here. He and I have gone through a few different styles and I’ve let him try some new techniques on my hair. He is an apprentice barber, but you can see the passion for his craft and the service is always great. Aside from the hair on my head, he got me into a better situation with the hair on my face. During my first visit he asked me about a hot shave, which led into a lengthy conversation about sensitive skin and how I shave. He suggested a safety razor handle with a replaceable blade to save me money. I have been using this ever since and couldn’t be happier.

I’ve had my haircut by David in the Hillcrest location, and was always extremely satisfied with the results. I tried the Little Italy location this weekend and had Cory give my beard a much needed fine-tuning and was again extremely happy with the results. More importantly, my fiancée was so happy with the results that she immediately had me make an appointment to see Cory for my pre-wedding haircut and beard taming. The location itself is in the James Coffee Industrial Warehouse-y Café which is a really cool place to get your haircut, a coffee, your bike tuned, and a new shirt in one spot. The online appointment scheduling is extremely convenient for anyone that doesn’t have time wait around a barbershop hoping to get in quickly. Highly recommended!

The Urban Shave is located inside the amazing James Coffee Company. The shop is super nice inside all glass windows which makes it fun to people watch while getting your haircut. The barbers are true professionals who are very in-tune with their clients. I was lucky enough to get cut by Omar. Omar is very talented and knows how to listen and deliver on all requests. I highly recommend Omar for the perfect cut. You can also get some amazing coffee at James! Win Win
