The Sophisticados

We had the The Sophisticado’s play downtown at the Harbor Club summer party and they did a great job! They are super solid musicians that don’t require a huge amount of space or infrastructure to put on a nice show. They are very reasonably priced for what you get and are fun and personable folks. I highly recommend them for cocktail parties or anywhere you would like to enhance the class and ambiance of your event.

We hired the Sophisticados for our December wedding. I have seen them live before and instantly knew that I would want them at my wedding (even when I was still single ;-)). Ted and Fernando played during our cocktail hour at the reception. They were very responsive in communication, even during the holiday season, and punctual on the day of. It was fun getting a text message from them when they were all set up, a great way of letting us know that all is good and we have so much to look forward to. Ted and Fernando’s music perfectly complemented the reception setting at the Crossings. We went for an elegant, classic theme with some European flair. There is just nothing like a soulful acoustic music, a glass of fine champagne and a dramatic winter sunset! Thanks for the magic, Fernando and Ted

We planned a destination wedding to San Diego from Wisconsin and found The Sophisticados online. I’d worked with Ted directly from the start-​from consideration through post-​event. I can’t say enough about how incredibly helpful, communicative and professional he was from the start. He was not only articulate and the services they offered but also showed more interest in us and our event than any of the others to ensure he’d offer exactly what we were looking for. He offered incredible insight on points we never considered to ensure we had the equipment and timeline that made the most sense and proactively worked with our venue and planner to coordinate the details so we didn’t have to. He consistently exceeded our expectations in his communication and response times.
The quality of their music was exceptional. We heard countless compliments from our guests about how much they enjoyed the music but also how fun the guys were to interact with. They’re both very fun and down to earth while staying extremely professional. They each pitched in a few times throughout the night to help out and ensure everything went well-​two really great guys who also happen to be outstanding musicians. Thank you so much for helping to make our event so special!

I worked with the Sophisticados at the Crosby for a wedding. They were AWESOME! Their appearance and style was very professional, and their communication prior the wedding was prompt and easy. I would recommend them to any planner or client.

I hired the Sophisticados to play at our Wedding and they were fantastic. They played before and during the ceremony and at the cocktail hour after. They created a great vibe for drinks after the wedding. My wife and I got so many compliments on the music. They were definitely a hit!
Ted and Fernando were great before the wedding too, asking if we had any special request, what they should wear, etc. They were so laid back and accommodating. They are such pros, we didn’t have to worry about anything.

The Sophisticados played at my wedding in Puerto Rico and were a huge hit. They played background music before and during the wedding ceremony and it was beautiful. Our wedding was on the beach and they set up and played and knew exactly what to do to make sure you could hear the music over the noise of the wind & waves. They even learned a new song for me and we surprised my husband and I performed it live with them at the reception. I would highly recommend Ted & Fernando for any event — they are professionals and make beautiful music.

We had the Sophisticados perform at our Spanish themed «Noche Latina» party this past weekend and they were amazing. Ted and Fernando were easy to work with, great communication before the party, were on time and played a wide arrangement of music for our Party! Our guests raved about them! We had a great time and the party was a huge success! I highly recommened them for weddings, receptions, party’s etc. They were great!

I hired The Sophisticados to play at my parents’ wedding anniversary party this past weekend. I got so much more than I bargained for and more!
First of all, I was not an easy client. This was a surprise party; venues fell through, times, dates, and the entire time Ted and Fernando were responsive and courteous to my needs. If you ask nicely, I think Ted and Fernando will even learn a couple of your favorite songs for you :)
The day of the party arrived, and I was 15 minutes late. I showed up and Ted and Fernando had already set up their equipment (I didn’t have to provide them anything but an outlet!) and essentially finished their sound check. They were ready to go before I was! Not only this, but they offered their mic in case we wanted to join in on any of the songs or make announcements. They became more a part of the party than purely a supporting role. At the same time, they didn’t make themselves the center of the party, which allowed for everyone for mingle.
My parents walked in and Ted and Fernando began playing on cue. Their music is perfect for seaside dining, and their sounds complement each other nicely. They use a combination of background sounds and guitar with Latin influence, but they will customize their music to your wishes. I would book them again in a heartbeat for a poolside party, a smaller wedding reception, or maybe even my parents’ next milestone anniversary.
