Unfortunately this visit in April was not as awesome as it usually is. The customer service was lacking and the food was not up to usual par. My trip to San Diego last week(June) was the first time in years I didn’t come back to this restaurant for breakfast. I will probably try again but I don’t play when I pay for food. I have high expectations which are usually met here but this visit was not the case. Of course this was the visit that I brought 5 other girls to try the food after bragging for weeks about how«you have to eat here»!! Really? I travel to California from Phoenix regularly so like I said I will likely try again once the sadness from my last visit wears off! It’s always busy here but that has never affected the quality of the food or the service until this time.

Love this little gem spot on Mission Blvd in SanDiego. Delicious food, always busy & an amazing organic selection. Ambiance is casual lounge. Their fresh squeezed OJ is so tasty & refreshing on a warm day. I will definitely be back here to try other dishes when I’m back in Cali.

I took some food to go only come to find out that my food was a bust when I got back to my hotel. Verde platter was not good at all it was nothing but black beans Verde sauce and a tortilla laid out. Big disappointment the only thing that was salvageable was the blueberry pancakes comma $ 60 I’ll never get back.

I came to this restaurant specifically because I heard about the Rosemary potatoes. They also had pretty good reviews of their food choices. I was so disappointed! My potatoes were so burned and crispy that they were pretty much charred. I could not taste any Rosemary flavor. The eggs were pretty plain, although, you can’t ask for much on basic scrambled eggs. I did enjoy the chicken Apple sausage, but this wasn’t even made in house. The only other thing that I found noteworthy was the gluten free Rosemary bread. This was some of the best gluten free bread that I have ever had! I don’t think I’ll bother going back here unless I’m able to buy a loaf of the bread.

First time at this breakfast and brunch area in Mission Beach. It wasn’t that amazing. I got the soyrizo burrito and it was ‘alright.’ Nothing special. They overcooked their potatoes and the burrito fell apart easily. It also took forever for our food to get out. Our server was nice though. I don’t think i’ll be back because there are better brunch restaurants around.

«Waiting 40 minutes outside and holding your hunger in abeyance for 1.5 hours after a long run» is proof of just how«top quality» and«delicious» the breakfast is here! The sound reverberating off the walls can be deafening but also adds the ambiance. Justification: Post Rock N Roll marathon… ;) Had the Mission French toast as an appetizer due our insatiable hunger and caloric deficit. Amazing! My wife had: CHICKENAPPLESAUSAGE&EGGS Chicken apple sausage is lightly sautéed, served with crispy rosemary potatoes, grilled rosemary bread, and scrambled eggs (This is my usual go-to dish, never disappoints) I had: ROASTBEEFHASH&EGGS Grilled Angus beef, horseradish cream, rosemary potatoes, grilled rosemary bread and scrambled eggs Note: Fresh Baked Gluten-Free Rosemary Bread May Be Substituted Enjoy!!! AAA+++

The French toast was delicious However, I was annoyed when I asked for my fruit bowl to be brought out before my meal and it was not. I then ended up paying $ 8 for a fruit bowl I no longer wanted. Also, they did not tell us that the orange juice wasn’t free refills. There goes another $ 15.

The food is delicious but the wait for the food is quite long. We got here at about 9:20am on a Friday and surprisingly the line to get seated wasn’t long. However, there seemed to be a long wait as we were leaving. I had the zen breakfast and would definitely recommend it. Loved the tofu!

Conveniently located steps from the beach with easy access to a parking lot, this little café is the perfect breakfast spot. We stopped here to eat and grab coffee, and you can also grab a cup of coffee to go from the walk up counter. This is not your average bland breakfast joint, the dishes here are SO good! Their portions are huge so keep that in mind for sharing or trying things. The french toast was full of cinnamon flavor goodness and served with three large slices of bread. Warm syrup, berries and quality toast that can hold up to the egg mixture. I also loved the rosemary potatoes that I had. Crispy, crunchy bites and softer pieces all mixed in with fresh herbs. They were well seasoned and cooked just right. The rosemary toast was also a hit. Fresh bread with rosemary baked in topped with butter and jam, it was a perfect breakfast side. The Orange juice was fresh, my cappuccino was made right and my eggs were cooked properly. Try this place out!

Stopped in here for breakfast around 7:30am on a Monday. The restaurant was pretty empty. The sign at the door said«Wait to be Seated», so we waited. A few employees gave us eye contact but no one took us to a table. After awkwardly standing there for awhile, the girl who would be our waitress, went to seat us at a table just one seat next to another party. We asked if we could sit at a separate table and she took us to a different spot. I really wanted to try one of the pancakes but they were huge and only came in a stack of 3. Would have liked to have eggs with one pancake as an option. The menu said that they don’t make substitutions and I didn’t see one pancake on the menu as a side, so I gave up on it. I ordered the eggs with chicken sausage & rosemary potatoes. It also came with 2 large pieces of grilled rosemary bread. It was all pretty good not really worth the $ 12 price. I was offered some blackberry jam for my toast which was delicious but tasted kind of weird with the rosemary on the toast. My husband ordered the soy chorizo burrito which he really liked. It came with tortilla chips which was kind of strange for a breakfast burrito. The worst part, which of course was no fault of the Mission Café, we got to our car which we had parked across the street under a 2 hour parking sign. Apparently, we missed the other sign that said No Parking Monday from 8am — 10am for Street Sweeping! So, our breakfast ended up costing $ 50 more, thanks to a hefty parking ticket! Ugh! So, learn from our mistake and read the parking signs very carefully!

Worth the wait I gold! Great customer service, with bottomless drinks. Had the Chicken Apple Sausage & Eggs! The potatoes were spectacular & along with the Rosemary bread. Best BK I’ve had in a long time. Hubby had the Grande burrito, he loved! Yes, the music is a bit loud, but definitely would eat here again! Lots of flavor!

If you want to try the deliciousness that is Mission Café, be prepared to wait! When I went for brunch today, the line was out the door, but the wait was only about 15 – 20 min. When we got inside, the restaurant was bustling and loud with conversation. While my boyfriend and I were waiting, we had already looked at the menu and were ready to order when we sat down. However, no one came by to take our order for a while. I was starting to get annoyed, but luckily, a very nice server with purple hair came just in time! I went with a Thai coffee and strawberry banana pancakes. The Thai coffee was what you’d consider a traditional Vietnamese coffee to taste like, but wasn’t as strong as I was expecting. It tasted great though! The strawberry banana pancakes were presented beautifully and were also delicious. My boyfriend got the blackberry banana smoothie and chicken apple sausage and egg plate. The smoothie was very refreshing and not too sweet! The sausage plate came with 2 sausages, scrambled eggs, rosemary potatoes, and bread. Everything tasted fantastic and you can tell it was very fresh. I highly highly recommend this place for brunch, but definitely make time for it. This isn’t the place to come if you’re in a rush, but if you’re around the area and have time to enjoy your brunch, definitely give it a try!

Customer service is OK. Place has a lot of local customers which is a good thing. A lot of families which is a good thing to see. FOOD is GREAT! Tasty, seasoned just right. The potatoes were somewhat over cooked, burnt spots. Pancakes were really good and a big portion. The French toast was ABSOLUTELYPERFECT! Coffee was really good. I loved this place. Would come back. But, it was a one time thing, coming from LACOUNTY.

I am an out-of-towner, but I have some local S.D. friends who recommended The Mission and it did not disappoint. This place was packed on a Saturday and for good reason. We had a short wait out outside, maybe 15 minutes. When we got to our seat the place was buzzing with energy! The waiter was friendly and accommodating and the food was yummy. I ordered MISSIONROSEMARY(Crispy rosemary potatoes, scrambled local farm fresh eggs, sautéed tomato and scallion garnish.) It was very good! Their specialty coffee was just OK… but the food is outstanding. What I was particularly interested was how they could have so many cooks in the kitchen. They were like a well-oiled machine! You should stand there and watch them, it’s like a delicate ballet. Highly recommended!

I was on a mission… to find a breakfast spot with my two friends on a Thursday morning. The Mission seemed like a good, low budget but tasty option, so we came out at 8AM!(I know, I can’t believe it either.) Our server was amazing. She was friendly, approachable and really helpful. Didn’t catch her name though… We quickly ordered: –1 order of banana blackberry pancakes //Hard to see from photos, but 3 large pancakes. Server said this is the most popular compared to the other ones. I’m not a huge pancake person, but this was the way I like it. Thick, big, but fluffy. I wish it could be showered with a bit more fresh fruit but I’m just impressed they didn’t burn the banana when cooking this. I love the blueberry jam that comes with it! I eventually started spreading it on everything… Like others have mentioned, big portion size. –1 order of Mission French Toast //HOLY GRAIL. I LOVE cinnamon, and this is SOFRESH. Love at first bite. Looks burnt for some reason, but trust me– the appearance doesn’t make this dish justice. Comes with 3 pieces of toast. Inside is layered with cinnamon sugar. YUM. Perfect sweetness and warmth. This was probably my most favorite dish of the three. FYI, the garnishing sauce on the side is some type of blueberry/blackberry purée. –1 order of chicken apple sausage //EHHHH. A bit pricier than other items, but still a pretty good item if you want a savory dish with a good variety. Eggs were fluffy, potatoes were a bit too oily for me(not enough rosemary flavor) and sausage links seems like something you can defrost and cook yourself. Rosemary bread was good though! Very subtle but a bit too much butter. Pros: –Great pricing! Definitely college friendly. –Good variety! I am so excited to bring others here and try other items on the menu. –Nice ambiance! Parking is a pain, but the interior of this place feels so homey and forget about your troubles.(Unless you get towed…) Cons: –I was hoping they had waffles. They don’t, sadly. But it’s okay! Super kid friendly place though! –Parking. Not their fault though… Tips/Observations: –They have mimosas?! Woahhhhh. Next time! –Come early! It definitely does start getting busy, even on a weekday. That’s just unbelievable to me. –Share! I left content and not even crumbs on my plates. Not full to the max(darn my fourth stomach) but my friends were filled when we shared 3 dishes. Overall, solid! I would definitely love to buy some of their cinnamon toast though… AHHHHH.

I’ll begin with the info that we came for brunch on new years day. obviously a holiday and a place already in high demand… I mean, I suggested it to my friends as a close breakfast option based on looking up nearby for brunch and seeing the rating. I had never eaten here but Unilocal rarely steers me wrong. the wait… was long. really long. way longer than quoted(i think we were told 20 mins and it ended up being close to an hour). then upon ordering we probably waited a good 30 mins more for our food — which is an odd thing for most breakfast items. I find the problem to be the size of the kitchen and staff. waaaay too small for the demand of the place. so basically, don’t come expecting a quick meal — at least not on the weekend nor a major holiday. the good news is… the food was delicious. and that is first and foremost what I base my rating on. after having *plenty* of time to look over the menu outside, I settled on the papas con chorizo(soy chorizo), substituting the standard scrambled eggs for eggs over medium(yolk runny) and it was fantastic and a huge portion. i ended up taking enough home along with the tortilla to make a burrito the next day. I highly recommend that. good breakfast… solid place… but not much is worth a combined 1.5 hours before eating breakfast.

The Mission no doubt makes some pretty good food, but for some reason things were not as good as I have had at their other locations. I ordered the Mission Croissant which the menu states it comes with fresh scrambled eggs, cheese, tomatoes and scallions, and served with a side of fresh fruit. I asked for them to add freshly chopped jalapenos which they charged an extra .75. The Mission Croissant was good but I had three issues with it. First, the cheese was cream cheese, which if I would of known, I would of change the cheese type for sure. I think they need to be more specific on menu regarding the type of cheese. Secondly, although the croissant tasted good, it had the wrong texture for this sandwich. It was way to soft and moist, and quickly broke apart under the weight and moisture of the cream cheese and scrambled eggs. I had to literally eat the sandwich with a fork and knife. The croissant needed a sturdier and crunchier exterior, but with that same soft center. Lastly, I really enjoy green onions, but the ones they put inside this scramble were not properly chopped and diced. Among the small properly chopped pieces, there were some large pieces of the stalks in the scramble, hence a lack if uniformity. However, I really liked the scrambled eggs on their own. They were fluffy, soft, and well seasoned. The tomatoes and jalapenos were freshly chopped and tasted good. The cream cheese they put into the croissant sandwich was way to much and got all over the place. The sandwich would of been much better off with some either Provolone or Swiss cheese. The side of fruit was very good and quite plentiful and service was good, but I had to wait a bit longer than usual for my check, and it was early before the breakfast rush appeared.

Beware! Finding street parking is a pain here. You may have to park really really far. We got seated immediately, but by the door/window and there were around 5 flies just flying around our table. Pretty disgusting, especially when they landed on our plates! Soy Chorizo Burrito– Great portion to share if you’re not too hungry. I asked for beans on the side and it arrived in a cup drizzled with shredded cheese. As for the burrito, I believe they need to have a more balanced proportion of egg to chorizo on BOTH halves(one had significantly more than the other)…Or else it’ll just be an egg burrito!
