A CAPSES school located in Mission Valley. Serves special needs children elementary through high school including an after program for vocational and social skills. Serves all of San Diego County but child must be tested before acceptance. My son has been attending here since grade 5 and will be graduating the after program next June. He loves the much smaller classrooms and one on one care and so do I. Parent Association was started a few years back and all children regardless of age have a yearly education plan with goals specified to them. Check out all details at

As a former student I strongly advise any considering parent or guardian to avoid enrolling their child in this school. IEE’s procedures and protocols are centered around naked manipulation disguised as positive reinforcement. Tangible or edible incentives are given to students to conform to behavioral structure that is centered around convenience favoring the staff and administrators often at the expense of the students’ true interests. My attendance here was fraught with various abuses of power including the over-​uses of physical restraints, isolation, police intervention and suspensions. For me the destructive of their practices was the refusal to discuss problems in favor of the latter more aggressive diffusing tactics. My educational needs were not taken seriously either, If I weren’t finally expelled, I would’ve never graduated high school. Looking back on my experience at IEE keeps me awake at night. I don’t wish this on anyone else.
