The Gardener’s Cottage

Charming, good quality gift shop with many pretty stained glass and garden art items. I like that they carry gnomes and fairies, two things I love to collect for my garden. And the wind chimes are unique too. And so much more. A great store and great owners. A great place to find something special at a fairly reasonable price.
Oh joy, they have more stores, one just down the freeway from my home, in Riverside in the Canyon Crest area.

The portly squirrel. You’ll see him repeatedly around the Gardener’s Cottage and he comes in two sizes. He’s obese and so cute. I wanted to buy him but couldn’t figure out where to put him or if I needed more clutter in the garden.
In addition to the portly squirrel, there are other portly carved animals, gnomes, iron animal fans and other knick knacks to choose from. Gardener’s Cottage is like El Centro Artensano on a smaller and more boutiquey scale.

You’ll find an assortment of knick-​knacks, garden decorations, home décor pieces, and artsy-​craftsy items in this festive store.
Part of The Shops at Bernardo Winery, The Gardener’s Cottage is a great place to go gift shopping for loved ones who appreciate the sort of items mentioned above. I noticed an especially plentiful selection of frog-​, bird-​, and bunny-​themed merchandise… but, woah, this stuff will cost you! I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw some simple small serving dishes priced upwards of $ 150.
My favorite part of the shop was the year-​round Christmas and Hanukkah section, which is located immediately to your left when you walk through the door. I was drawn to a couple beautiful manger scenes, and the majority of the displayed ornaments seemed reasonably priced.
On Sunday we left The Gardener’s Cottage with a gift for my boyfriend’s mother, a small life-​like painted bird on a stand with a motion detector so that it chips when someone passes by. (Kind of weird, I know, but she’ll love it.) Service was pleasant, and the bird was put in a cute gift bag with tissue paper and ribbon for no extra charge. Very nice!
Will certainly stop at The Gardener’s Cottage the next time I visit the area/​winery.
