Real is one of the many positive words I’d use to describe Ramel Wallace(Rael J), who I’ve had the pleasure of knowing personally and working with at SDSU’s KCR Radio. Ramel is truly one of the best people I know who always does everything wholeheartedly no matter the task or interaction. As a music journalist, I can attest to Ramel’s rare quality of prioritizing community over self when it comes to creativity. Not only is he always looking to build with like minded creatives, but he looks for inspiration wherever he can, always thinking of how he can better himself and bring something new to the table. ThChrch is a brilliant way for Ramel to put his natural tendencies to work and help the SD art community find a voice and a place to grow. Cheers!

I’ll be honest, I’m the co-owner of thChrch. Rather than write a phony review, maybe I can use this as an opportunity to share what we do. We support artists and their work while encouraging entrepreneurship. We do so by allowing our vinyl store Beatbox Records, our clothing store Uncommon Value, Holyfield Records and Holyfield Academy to share our space rent free. The purpose is to eliminate as much stress as possible, so each business can take a few healthy risks, build capital, and establish a solid foundation without going into debt. We’re here to eliminate the stigma of «struggling artist». We can, together, create a lifestyle that is designed to grow as an artist, as an entrepreneur and share our resources with the creative community. Feel free to stop by and check out our shops, or check out some of our artwork and events. Hang out, listen to a world of music from Beatbox Records. Or listen to some of San Diego’s talented musicians craft a song, and our visual artists paint a mural, our digital artists animate and our videographers edit their videos for thChrch’s YouTube channel. Maybe, you might find a way to build with us. Thanks for taking the time. I’m rating us 4 out of 5 stars because all of us who contribute to thChrch want nothing else but to see it thrive. Our passion and commitment for what we do is our only purpose. However, we’re not perfect and never will be. Progress and growth is what we really strive for. Thanks for your time, Frank luna

Wow, I was really surprised by this culture of artist. So open to sharing ideas, art and music. I wanted to learn to make beats. Coming from a different generation then most of the people I thought I would feel uncomfortable in the environment. Not so, this is a true mix of generations from little kids to older adults all enjoying their passion for art and music. Everyone is welcome. A great place to meet other artists and to experience unique and current music genres.
