Tequila Bar & Grille

What sounds better than drinks and tacos at a poolside bar/​grille while on spring break? That is what I thought until my experience at Tequila Bar & Grille happened.
The reason I gave a one star rating is just because the overall experience. I walked in with my friend and no one sat us or told us to sit somewhere. Two servers walked passed us and it seemed like they didn’t care. We then went to the bartender and he told us to sit anywhere we liked. We said can we sit at the fire pit and he said that was totally okay and the server would be with us soon. Time passed on and no one served us, so we ordered drinks at the bar and said a server would be right with us to get our food order. Time passed and FINALLY the server came by to take our order. We ordered a total of 3 tacos and chips with salsa. After placing the order, it took them 25 minutes to get our food out. We kept on seeing the servers walking around the pool area, but never going to the back to check on the food. We overheard the bartender asking if they got our order from the back, and then said «I will go get it right now.» The tacos and chips weren’t even cold, they were cold. So obviously they were just sitting out. Then when it came it pay, we had to call the servers over to give us our check and they never checked in too see how the food or anything was.
This restaurant is at the Marriott, which is one of their higher end locations, and to get service like this is unbelievable. I expected so much better from them, but I guess I was totally wrong.

Well I was told by a respectful amazing person that I should come to this bar at the Marriott poolside. Great bartender. But sad to hear that we just didn’t fit the bill. Apparently our appearance from walking all day made the manager feel that we might be shady and order and bail. Feeling very insulted. NO one should ever judge anyone by their looks. With that said… won’t be back

I come to the Marriott Marquis about 5 or 6 times a year and love to hanging out by the pool. Typically the service is outstanding and so is the food. However, I have been sitting here today for over an hour with absolutely no service the waiter has walked by five or six times and I asked for a menu and he completely ignored me. If I knew his name I would definitely turn it over to management. He really has no business working at a facility like this. I hope this is just on bad hire and not a change in management.

As a Marriott elite and rewards credit card member I find myself frequenting all of the Marriott restaurant and bars since I travel often. Tequila bar is great! Living in San Diego, I often hit this outside bar up just to hang out! It’s at the Marriott Marquis in downtown San Diego on the bay-​front. Perfect place to hang out by the pool or just to enjoy yourself.
My drink of choice is the «Mexican mule.» Tequila, lime juice, and ginger beer. Not on the menu (it might be now) but ask for it. Get top shelf tequila. I recommend Don Julio tequila. better and much smoother the patron. so good!

I stay at the Marriott often and usually enjoy this place but this trip was different. We went for drinks and food around lunch time one day and the service was terrible. I felt like the bartender felt bothered to serve us. We’re a young couple so maybe he thought we don’t tip good? I’m not sure the reason, but it was frustrating. We each got a drink and ordered nachos and they were good until right before the end when we found a dark black hair in them. I told our bartender and he didn’t do or say anything. I wasn’t looking for him to take it off our bill as we had just about finished them but just to acknowledge that is was gross. After telling him we didn’t see him again and another bar tender closed out our tab and we went else where for food. We’ll stick to drinks next time.

Horrible customer service. Bartender was rude & really unfriendly. 2 star given for ambiance. My girls & I were out there last night & wow is the pool area impressive. The hotel was showing a movie by the pool & all the firepits were going. My mango tango also tasted more like a smoothie. Not sure there was any alcohol in it at all.

Service alone is one star. Six of us have been patiently waiting for a waiter to take our order. One of us finally had to order from the bar. The atmosphere is nice though…

Checked in to the hotel and we were starving so I thought we would try it out since it was right there. food was ok not really worth the money the best part of eating here was the view and the weather.

Good food, amazing ambiance and top notch service.
We stopped in with friends and were pleasantly surprised to find this vacation-​like oasis in the middle of downtown.

This bar is an easy place for a meetup if you or your friends are staying at the Marriott Marquis & Marina during San Diego Comic-​Con, so I ended up eating/​drinking here twice on my recent trip. The first time, I sat at the bar and had some beers and the potato taquitos, which were decent. Despite being busy the food came pretty fast and bar service was pretty good.
Unfortunately, the second time I was here they were far less busy, but we sat at a table and the service was atrocious. Everything took forever, even just drinks. I was so frustrated (because I was so hungry) that I couldn’t even tell you what I had. It was good, whatever it was, but the service just left a bad taste in my mouth. Thankfully we ordered a couple pitchers of one of their mixed drinks, it didn’t taste strong but it was and that made things a lot better.
I will say that I do love the ambiance of this restaurant — it’s by the pool, there’s some great plant life, the bar is really pretty. I’m sure I’ll end up there again, though next time it will probably just be for drinks.

First time here and the service is just great ! Awesome people and great atmosphere. We had the casa amigos flight and crab guacamole and everything was just perfect. Very fresh tacos! Managers came and checked on us I believe Travis and jonathan. Other staff that were helpful were cobie and the food runner irvin.

It started off as a simple Sunday morning. Just finished having a great breakfast, Then decided to hit seaport village because it was a beautiful day. Stumbled across tequila bar and grill at the Marriott, we were treated by one of the kindest servers Katrina Rosario. I was astonished to see how busy it was on Sunday afternoon but all that didn’t matter because We were attended to right away. We were undecided of what refreshments to order, but it seems after the watchful eye of Jonathan santos he quickly approached us and knew we were struggling with what beverage to a order. He recommended the mojitos, and lets just say it’s the best mojitos I’ve ever tasted. I normally don’t write reviews but it was that damn good!
Rest assure I will be coming back to tequila bar and grill, not only for the mojitos but for the service Katrina and Jonathan gave me. Make sure to ask for them next time you go in.

Not limited to hotel guests, but an ideal spot to sit and enjoy a few drinks amid palm trees and a cozy fire pit to keep me warm. Yes, please. I was staying next door at the Hyatt, and wandered over in search of a cocktail. My companion and I entered through the front of the Marriott, and after a bit of a search, we found the bar. We went to order up at the bar, but a very nice waitress said she’d order our drinks for us (I know, it would’ve been cheaper to order them up by ourselves, but oh well). We sat down at one of the fire pits that are flanked by large chaise lounge-​type chairs; large enough to curl up in. We faced the pool which had a few swimmers that evening, but it was still quiet. There were three or four of these fire pit/​chaise lounges set next to each other, and seemed to be a popular spot. The margaritas were huge, and were very tasty. I prefer mine without salt, and these tasted like they had homemade sour mix in them (bottled sour mix = yuck). They were also super strong, but not overpowering, which was nice considering that these are on the pricier side of things.
The waitress did inform us that she may be leaving soon (8pm seemed early), but whatever. She did keep us informed, and was polite about it. We didn’t have any food, as we were coming back from dinner, but this is a great little spot to relax that is not limited to hotel guests. Check them out if you’re staying downtown!

I had an awesome lunch here! Really good vibe. My server Taylor was excellent as well as other staff members including Management. I had a chicken tortilla soup that came with all the extras, 3 white fish tacos, tequila and a Michelada. Did I mention Tequila? It’s a fun Airy bar next to the pool. I’ll be back.

Great, open space to enjoy San Diego’s beautifully-​ideal climate. Not limited to hotel guests, so it provides the opportunity to enjoy a drink and light meal whilst lounging among the Marriott’s gardens and relaxing pool. I was surprised how good the panco-​crusted fish tacos were, and at three for $ 9, they are priced lower than expected for a resort restaurant. Great place to spend time before or after exploring the harbor and SeaPort Village.

YUM. This hit the spot at the pool when we were at the Marriott. The drinks from their bar by the pool aren’t so good but the drinks from their MAIN bar is really good! We had the carne asada fries and the nachos with added chicken. We didn’t put on the fire pit because we have a kid and we were swimming so. yeah. Pretty darn good set up.

This isn’t your run of the mill hotel bar and grille. First, find yourself a sweet spot around a fire pit, or by the pool. Then do yourself a favor and order the carne asada fries. I ordered them as my entrée. Usually when I order a starter as an entrée it’s small and leaves me wanting something more… Not today. These are MASSIVE! It’s basically a California burrito without the tortilla. My wife had the burger, which was epic and my son’s hotdog from the kids menu made me jealous.
Also, our server was awesome. He was friendly and took great care of us.
The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was the lighting.

Great atmosphere, nice drink selection. We tried the Mahalopeno Margaritas… whewww! They were SPICY! I loved the fish tacos, fresh and delicious, not fried! :) yumm! Love it here!

We had carne asada fries, fish tacos and chicken quesadilla. All were pretty ok and not way too overpriced ($ 34 for all I think)
