came here for veggies, decided to get my kids and their dad something from the kitchen. worst carne Asada burrito and pollo Asado fries ever. cheese was weird. the pollo Asado AND carne Asada were shredded? the guacamole wasn’t guacamole, it was guacamole salsa and so my kids mouths were burning. no one finished their food out of disgust. I had a bite of just fries and they tasted weird. we’re sticking to Victoria’s across the st. had I known this was the same owner as Wally’s, I would have never stepped foot in here. f*ck whoever that guy is. DON’T COME HERE.

ahahahah do not be fooled, save a lot took away wallys franchise. this place is still a disgusting dump owned by a greedy bastard. go to vons 1 mile north on saturn. Hell. even Wal Mart is better than this shit hole (same parking lot as Vons)

I want Albertson’s back, dang it! The ONLY thing I like from this place are the cakes! But then again after that disgusting rotting food scandal, you can’t trust anything here!
It’s so filthy that I can’t believe the Health Inspectors haven’t shut this place down. Stay away from this place and go to Northgate up the street instead.

So I guess it’s called «SU Mercado» now… ROFL. Sav-​A-​Lot, a fairly large and reputable chain out of Missouri, is no longer, er, happy, (yeah, that’s the ticket!) for this location to use their moniker. The ownership has stated in the local press that they wanted to change the name on their own. Yeah, OK. Rotten chickens piled out front and alleged shady ownership practices aside, this is the same place that was slammed in an undercover Channel 10 investigation for filthy meats, expired sausages (that just sounds nasty) and old products galore. The ownership does not treat this location like their other store (Wally’s) — It’s been left to rot, and it’s obvious that the ownership assumes that the type of people that shop here aren’t going to complain. Guys, low prices should not equate poor treatment and filthy conditions!
New name? OK. I decided to make a repeat visit here. New store? My findings? Not good– Actually worse than before. This location is absolutely filthy– Even worse now that it’s totally independent. NOT clean; the floors need work and it probably should be a LOT colder in here. Dank, warm environment. On a warm, 80 degree Saturday this last December 5^th, I could once again see employees visibly sweating from the lack of air conditioning. And again, the produce was wilting and surrounded by interesting insects. There are still flies throughout the butcher area. Overall, I find the folks who work here to friendly, but they’re not very happy.
There are many other great options (think Northgate) for regional food and fresh tortillas– THIS is not one of them. Ownership– Clean this freaking place up, turn on the air conditioning and install some flooring– This location is a total disgrace.
The reviewer below focused her photo on a stack of cheap beer; I think she may have guzzled a large quantity of it before she left her rather complimentary review of this smoking crater of customer service and cleanliness.

I’m in this store at least 5 times a week. Spoke to owner Wally back when it was still save a lot about the toilet seat that was broken in the woman’s restroom. He said he had not known about it and that he was going to call maintenance right away. It’s been over 2 months and the toilet seat has not been replaced. I went in today ¹¹⁄₄ and now there’s no soap dispenser. There’s a bag hanging from a nail on the wall. Not only is it an inconvenience for his customers, it also shows how much he cares about his employees.

This place is fucccknn awesome! What brought me in today was my suegra who told me about the sale on the 29cent pound chicken and also the pork was on sale. When i walked in i felt a northgate market vibe. If northgate and save a lot would ever reproduce. this store is what they would end up with. Throughout out the store i found many other sales such as 11.99 12 pack of bottled pacifico. 3 cases of 24 pack dasani water for $ 10, 3 cases of 12 pack canned coke and $ 3 county crock family size butter. They’re variety is good lots of produce and canned foods. I also found a few cleaning supplies and other knick knacks for cheap too.409 cleaner bottles $ 1 each, scrubbing bubbles toilet cleaner $ 2…etc etc i went crazy in here a bit. They have a meat section, beer and also a bakery. Ended up paying almost about $ 200 for two shopping carts over flowing. This is now my store of choice and i love sharing my find on Unilocal :)
