So happy to have a new place in Hillcrest that has awesome food and drinks! We came in before their grand opening a few weeks ago, got a few drinks, and chatted with the managers. The guys running this are awesome and working their tails off to get it up and running. They’re extremely friendly and the service is great! I got to go back last night to try some of their food and it was sooooo tasty. My bf and I split the doner basket, which had a greek salad, falafel balls, and french fries. The falafel was super crispy on the outside and a little crumbly on the inside(my favorite! I hate falafel that are too pasty, and these guys nailed the texture). The fries were perfectly crisp and the salad was just as stellar! It also came with two fried pita strips, of which I could have eaten 10 more. My friend got the fried pita strips and the sweet potato fries and loved both. We had some beers and the red sangria with our meals. This will be our new neighborhood staple!

I decided to just stop in here after work because it is right across the street. I ordered a beer just so I could sip and bury myself in the internet on my phone. When I was ready to pay, Riley told me not to worry about. That was really nice and unexpected. I will definitely be back, probably during lunch.

Delicious döner, nice location, but I kinda wish there was a genuine street option – pile of meat, 2⁄3 the price(say $ 6.50), hold the veg and classy bread.

Holy Cow this place got a face lift! Great vibe right off the bat backed with a great staff that knows how to just be real and give good service. Food is good and portions are large with a full bar you can’t go wrong. The patio is SICK!!! Summer is going to be off the chain here. Super excited to see how this little gem does. I’ve been here a few times and will be back for many more I’m sure!

This is a great new choice for the food and beverage scene in Hillcrest area of San Diego. Things are achangin’ for the better in this area. Mediterranean street food is the meme. It is no wonder that this food is sweeping Berlin and Paris and much of Europe. It is informal and delicious I had the spicy doner with beef and lamb. Nice kick and fresh ingredients. Fries(even sweet potato fries) can be ordered with a great blast of toppings. Saw some on most tables. Good selection of craft beers and sangria(!!?), with a full bar. Spitz? Why not. Start your pub crawl here. You may not leave.

Amazing and delicious… great food/drinks and excellent service. The«Street Cart Doner» is their signature and did not disappoint. The combination of meat(beef and lamb), garlic aioli, and fresh veggies makes you savor every bite. The pita strips with hummus I can eat 24⁄7. Nice selection of local beers. The staff is extremely friendly and take time to ensure you have a great experience. The big outdoor patio is a game changer. Dog-friendly with heatlamps and various games. I will definitely come back to Spitz to try the rest of the menu.

Went to their opening evening event and I was impressed by the simple, delicious and healthy fare along with their good beer tap selection. Combined with the nice and good-sized outdoor area(complete with a grass area with a couple cornhole setups) I think this will be a great spot for a group to hang out and have a couple beers and a bite on a warm afternoon or evening. Best of luck!

Great place, great food, and great drinks! The back patio is super fun and is an awesome place to have a beer, play some cornhole and catch some sun.

Spitz will change your life — swear to God. It starts with the ambiance, but it doesn’t stop there. You will be welcomed by a friendly and knowledgable staff… who are also exceedingly attractive. Something for everyone. Order a drink at the bar… their sangria is on point. Their beers? Flow like wine. Walk outside and notice that this establishment has quite an ass on her. Tables galore, corn hole, heaters, perfection. Do yourself a favor and come here.

I work near here and was excited to see a new food joint opening up. The interior is fresh with ample seating, including bar seating and a large outdoor patio in the rear. But after a nearly 30 min wait in a relatively short line(everyone places their order at the front), my boss later reminded me that one should wait at least a month before patronizing a new restaurant. They are still ironing out kinks in their routine and seemed a bit understaffed. Months after PokeGo opened just up the street, they too are still struggling with their ever-evolving menu and managing the lunch rush. Sigh! A more established joint, like DeliLlama has got it all down pretty solidly. I did also observe that the menu layout/design seemed to confuse most people including myself. It takes some time to decipher. But, I didn’t have to wait too long once my order was placed. I had ordered two Berlin chicken(shawarma — not chicken breast) wraps to-go for my boss and I. The food was tasty, though I noticed the cabbage mix was a touch dry, and well-portioned(ie, filling). Overall, it is a welcome addition to the lunch mix for our office, let alone for the neighborhood.

As a spitz fan from the locations up in Los Angeles I was stoked to find a new Spitz in SD. I love places like this. A solid meal with solid beer that wont break the bank. Don’t come in expecting some hyper-bougie take on Mediterranean street food. It’s simple, delicious, and a fun spot to drink with friends that wont burn a hole in your wallet.

Bow wow to the Dog House and hello to Spitz! Thank goodness a reputable business has settled into this inside/outside local’s spot on Fifth Avenue just a block from Nunu’s. The new owners have worked their lavoshes off getting this place in shape for business. Their hard work has paid off — the vibe is chill, the rotating taps feature local San Diego brews, al fresco dining in the back with lots of heat lamps, and best of all, good food at reasonable prices. I had the special fries and the special wrap — ask them for suggestions. The spice and seasoning is spot on and I can’t say I’ve ever had anything like it in San Diego. Delicious!

Cool new addition to the Bankers Hill /Hillcrest neighborhood. Delicious food, great service, good music, large outdoor patio, and TVs to catch a game. I highly recommend the Street Cart Doner wrap add spicy sauce and peppercinis, very filling and reasonably priced.

This place just opened up and it is a great addition to the neighborhood! I love the vibe of the place, and the owners and staff were really friendly. They have great art on the wall, an awesome beer list, but the best part is the outdoor patio. It is a great spot for day drinking(dogs are ok!) and they were setting up games like corn hole(bags) when I was there. I am a vegetarian but thought their falafel sandwich was really really good, and the fries are AMAZING! Get the street cart fries, you won’t regret it. Will definitely be back!

Just visited this place last night. I’ve been to a few different Spitz locations, and this one is definitely my favorite. The art is great, awesome craft beer choices, and delicious food! The full bar is supposed to be coming soon too. The outdoor patio is huge, and the vibe of the place is so homey and welcoming. To top it off the customer service is awesome and the owners are really kick ass. Ill definitely be back next weekend, which is the grand opening !

We visited Sptiz on opening night. It took over the space that previously belonged to the Dog House. Spitz is already in LA and a few other cities and this is the first San Diego outpost. Being opening night, things weren’t quite ready… though they did have a sign up warning people. Trust me, this was a lighting quick turnaround from when the Dog House closed to Spitz opening. It characterizes its menu as Mediterranean street food, with craft beer and sangria. The core menu items are variations of Doner kebab. I had the Sptiz w/Pommes and a beer and she had Mediterranean Doner. Our conclusion is that entrees were good, but nothing too revolutionary. That being said, we didn’t order the more exotic choices. I have 2 comments. One suggestion is to include the beer list on the menu. There are about 8 – 10 beers on draft, and it takes a while for the bartender to explain them all. Also, a note about the Doner Pommes. When I was checking out the menu online the Doner Pommes caught my attention. When I lived in France, I literally lived off of the street kebab stands. Over there, it’s more like a sandwich… not exactly baguette bread, but similar(ie, it’s long). They load it up with meat, and then cover it with fries. I mean, a lot of fries. I was rather hoping that’s what I’d get here. But it was a wrap style, and there were probably just 10 fries total. They offer a sandwich version on focaccia, but I don’t think it be quite what I had in mind. Those quibbles aside, we’re really excited about Sptiz’s arrival(we live across the street). Can’t wait to come many more times!
