This park has a decent grass area. There’s also a playground for the kids, some tables, bathrooms, and a basketball court. You can literally just run around the grass area to get a good workout. I usually go here to watch my bf play basketball while I sit in the park with my dog. It can be a little busy when people are having parties taking up a lot of the space on the tables. Also, the parking lot is quite small so if you have a big party people will definitely have to park on the street.

Tucked just barely out of sight from the periphery of Camino Del Sur, South Village Neighborhood Park definitely does its part to further enhance the value of the homes around its area. I am always on the lookout for new places to ball and South Village boasts a single court with durable backboards and single(!) rims. The surface does not feel like concrete, and it’s actually quite easy on the knees. Based on the isolation of this park, it’s a great place to shoot around. However, if you’re looking for a pickup game, this court will not be for you. Due to the location, it’s truly convenient to no one except people in Fairbanks Ranch, and I am sure they are probably playing polo or golf instead of utilizing the public facilities. Also, even though there are typically no fellow ballers at the park, you will be competing for court time with the scads of children that invade the park for soccer and football practice. Overall, I give this park three stars. The outdoor court is new and well-maintained. It’s just enough of an inconvenience to get there that if you just want to shoot around, you will most likely be rewarded with an empty hoop reserved just for you. What would set this park’s ratings high would be lights for the basketball court, but alas, the neighborhood planners knew that would inevitably bring in the riff-raff in the evenings, and we all know that that wouldn’t fly in that area.
