South Clairemont Recreation Center & Community Park

This is a review of only the South Clairemont PARK: pretty poor. SO many better, so I feel blessed I can drive a ways to let my children experience one of the many good SDiego parks. First of all, there are all these ash receptacle ‘structures,’ but no where to even cook a hotdog. Well, by the pavilion, to the West, there is ONE structure for grilling (I would guess), with no way to move the grill up and down. Worse, the entire Eastern 2/3’ds of this park is a vast wasteland, except for the ‘grass:’ What a huge waste of space… no picnic benches (zero) …just nothing, except a NON-​official dog off-​leash area, about which no cares to report. A great park, Cadman, is not too far thank goodness, and perfect for kids and parents: even has a huge LEGAL Dog Off-​Leash area with a view of Mission Bay (sometimes the Pacific, too) to die for.

This review is for the swimming pool swimming classes for kids.
This is our family go to place for swimming lessons. Prices are right on target. $ 56 for 2 weeks of swimming classes for a 7 yr old. Hey, no problem! The little guy came out swimming in 2 weeks!
The instructors are perfect with the kids. The location is great! Parking is ok. The restrooms are pretty clean. The grounds seem well kept. All of our 3 kids have come here and came out swimming!

Nice, clean, and centrally located park. Very relaxing place to go. There are restrooms, covered tables, picnic tables, and grills. Great place to enjoy the outdoors! Enjoy your San Diego parks.

if you guys are interested, we have games at clairemont park every Wednesday and Sundays from 6pm-8:30pm. We run 3s (half court) or 4s or 5s (full court)

Quiet park, bathrooms aren’t too clean though. Its a great place to park your car though if you plan hiking along the trails in Tecolote Canyon.

People bag on Clairemont, but it unfair to do so. This rec. center is very family friendly. People just trying to chill with their kids and play some frisbee etc.
I felt totally safe and this is seriously a nice place to hang. Weather in Clairemont is warm and sunny when 3 miles away at Kate Sessions it may be full of June Gloom.

City Parks. We haz them. Terrific ones too. South Clairemont Recreation Center and Community Park is a wonderful neighborhood gem to enjoy the great San Diego weather and maybe some exercise too.
We stopped here on a Sunday, and the rec center was closed, but when I cruise by this area, I usually see people using the gazebo and charcoal bbq grills for parties and picnics.
This location is where they hold the annual Clairemont Family Day

Upon closer inspection, this large rec center & park space also includes:
— A softball field
— A full-​size basketball court
— A tennis court
— A playground
Per the website, there are meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a kiln room inside the rec center

Nearby is the Clairemont Pool
and a Skate Park
.
With so many activities available nearby, there’s no reason for kids of all ages to complain about having nothing to do. Just go outside and play!
