Sonia’s Hair Styling & Dreadlocks

As a Stylist Sonia has been doing my hair for 15+yrs and I’ve gone through many hair transitions with Sonia from relaxed with dye, cut and styling, to weaves including my last transition 8 yrs ago to Dread Locs with coloring and styling and have yet to be disappointed or dissatisfied. ASOLUTELY loving the style she did today alone with the wonderful natural looking color that Sonia does to my Locs makes me look 10 yrs younger lol. Not only does my hair look wonderful but it’s healthy as well. Im so pleased with Sonia and the passion she has for the work she does. I thank God for Sonia and praying continued Blessing for Sonia and all that are Blessed enough to sit in her chair. Thanks Sonia… You ROCK

I have been going to Sonia for almost ten years with no problem. She has cut, colored, and styled my hair with no issues. I have nothing but great things to say and quite honestly cant believe anyone would have a negative experience with her. She’s professional and offers recommendations for future upkeep and just a nice person in general.

Wish I could give this «business» a zero. After the horrible experience I had, she had the audacity to lie to a random client about me. How do I know? Because that client shared my story with my regular loctician. She claims I didn’t want to pay her. This is so sad, and pathetic. This is what I texted MY loctician in response.
” Unbelievable. She actually quoted me $ 65 for the color when I made the appointment, after sending her a photo of my hair and what I wanted. When I got there she said I have more hair than it looked in the picture, and didn’t say anything else. I then TOLD her, if it will be more, that is perfectly fine. She increased the price to $ 85. I paid her $ 100. Why would I pay darn near $ 400 to have this hair put in, plus buying the hair for over $ 200, $ 85 each time for grooming with a tip each time, just to haggle about Sonia’s fee! Sorry, but that’s not how I roll. I NEVER trip about money in anything I do. I am too blessed for that. Nice try though lol. God don’t like ugly. That’s why she’s losing customers now, and they are all going to my regular loctician”. Does this woman not understand I could have filed a complaint against her? And I actually thought she was nice, go figure.

Sonia has been doing my husbands hair for the last 5+years. My 16 yr old son kept contemplating on getting locs or not. He finally decided to do so. The outcome was gorgeous. He is so happy with it and ot looked exactly how I thought it would. Great job Sonia.

I love getting my hair done by Sonia! She is professional and personable. I recently moved to California and was concerned I would have a hard time finding someone to maintain my locs. It was a blessing to find someone with skills and passion to keep my hair looking good.

Extremely unprofessional!
Did not value my time nor business.
So…I was supposed to get my hair colored by Sonia the Sunday before my family reunion, but she decided to cancel on me 10 min «after» I got there.
Upon arrival, she told me that she was running approx 30 min behind, as she stood working on another woman’s hair. I was okay with that since it is typical for stylists to run behind when doing hair. So I went to my car and waited. A few min later, she sent me a text message saying… and I quote…“honestly i’m gonna run more like an hour behind and I have an appointment after sorry for the inconvenience but we’re gonna need to reschedule your appointment.” Hmmmm… interesting…but wasn’t I her next appointment? Go figure. So I went inside for clarification since I did drive quite a few miles to get there, after all. Inside, she tells me that after seeing my hair in person, she decided that she miscalculated and it was going to be more complicated than she thought. And, although I did send her photos of myself along with photos of what I wanted my hair to look like, she still cancelled.
My overall experience with her was that she did not value my time nor business, and I will never again use her services.

Sonia is the only one I will allow to touch my dreads. I always leave her with my hair looking nothing less than on point. If you need your hair did she is the go to person.

I have been going to Sonia’s for about 5 months and my hair is in the teen stage. I had my dreds for about 10 months and recently moved here to SD. I looked up Sonia and read the reviews and made an appointment. i must say that after the first time she retwisted my dreds they have been healthy and continues to grow. Sonia is excellent she takes pride in her work. I never have to look for anyone else. If you have dreds and looking for maintenance or starter dreds call up Sonia.

I have had two other stylist re twist my hair, and Mrs. Sonia is has hands down trumped both of them and my girl agrees 100%. If you have ever received service from her or after you read this you decide to get your hair done make sure you come back and leave a review because if you have dreads are in the baby stages you know how hard it is to find someone that actually knows what they are doing and does a OUTSTANDING job while doing it. Lastly, the shop had a great atmosphere so that made the experience even better.
FYI– She is no longer in lemon Grove she is now in Imperial beach. but I promise you it is worth the drive.

I’m mixed black and white with very long naturally curly hair. I’m a tough customer when it comes to my hair. Sonia is an awesome stylist with my natural curls — and when I get it flat ironed Sonia has done some of the most beautiful work ever –without damage. I’m from LA and when I come to SD I always get my hair done by Sonia. I love Sonia — her work is fab, her prices are reasonable and she is talented and down to earth! Highly recommend — she is definitely worth checking out!!!
