Smart Clips Salon

Was looking for a good clean haircut but I didn’t want to go to a normal salon with normal salon prices and I wanted to avoid a barber shop. I went to the Electric Chair until two separate incidents, the stylist I scheduled with was at home asleep, and the second being one of the stylists literally chopped off a good chunk of my ear. Coming here seemed like the perfect fit between a stylist and a barber shop (at least for myself being a male). As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a friendly hello and was immediately sat down, the stylist was very attentive to everything I was saying and the haircut came out perfect. Coming in a second time some 2 weeks later the lady who cut my hair last time and remembered my name and even remembered that I had a dog walking service. The prices were more than reasonable for the amazing and friendly service. I would recommend this place to any guy looking for a great haircut at a decent price!

The staff was friendly and the place was clean. However, review the prices and what is included before you have them cut your hair! I glanced at the prices on their website a few days before I went in, vaguely remembering that a woman’s haircut was $ 25 and up. When I got there, the sign outside the salon said $ 30. Ok, no biggie, I thought. But when it came time to do my hair, George proceeded to wet my hair with a water bottle, nothing more! No wash, style, etc. I know that some very discounted salons do this to cut down on costs and keep prices low, so I thought maybe this was one of them. Although $ 30 is not that much of a discount and i had already decided not to return on that account. When I got home to double check the prices, however, it stated women’s haircuts were $ 25 with a wash, $ 35 for wash, cut, and style. I feel a bit cheated, and I am kicking myself for not speaking up while I was there! I will not be going back.

I had a great experience with Smart Clips Salon and I received the post-​experience compliments to warrant this review!
I was able to schedule an appointment (luckily!) at the last minute. Speaking with the male who answered the phone, I was greeted with a warmth and energy which already set my experience off on a positive note.
Once I arrived, Sonia was inviting and thorough. Per her suggestion (and because I knew it was well needed!), I decided to to a deep conditioning treatment, which has left my hair looking shiny and feeling soft. The cut turned out wonderful as well. Sonia took her time, was personable, and even offered me a glass of wine really put the cherry on top. Not to mention, the prices were beyond reasonable.
Post-​new haircut, I travelled up to San Francisco where I had not one, but three compliments to my hair! I will definitely be going back to Sonia. Would highly recommend Smart Clips!

George great person to buy a haircut from real easy super good and wash your hair and everything

I’ve had a hard time finding a stylist in SD with reasonable prices that does natural looking/​modern highlights and balayage-​type looks. I had overlooked this place because of the name. I thought it was strictly for cuts, but after seeing photos on Unilocal I gave it a try.
I went to Megan over the weekend for a cut and highlight and couldn’t be happier! Megan asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page, was super cool to talk to and hooked me up with a gloss too. My cut and color are SO much better than what I’ve gotten in salons that have costed twice as much, so needless to say, I’m stoked.

I just found my new spot for a haircut in OB. George got me in first thing, no appointment, and did a great job! In and out in under 20 mins, and very accommodating. Smart, prompt and friendly service at an affordable price. Thanks George, see ya next time!

Had my semi long hair cut short here on a Saturday afternoon with no appointment. It was empty and they got me right in. Sonya helped me right away and I was not a happy camper when I arrived (not their fault I was at Sprint all day getting my phone fixed, a crappie day thus far) she turned my day all around from crabby to happy. I paid $ 50 for a wash, cut, style, and deep conditioning and got a great head massage too. She listened to what I said about my hair length and also took onto consideration that I have never gone short. I appreciate that. She did style my hair in a way I will never be able to reproduce that is the only downside, but not her fault she is talented and I am not. I will return. Thank you Sonya!

Called in on Sunday to have my old boring layers cut and styled so my hair can have some character to it, and Megan (the stylist) listened to all my concerns and goals and gave me more than I expected when leaving their salon. I received layers that framed my face and made the back of my hair look less boring, and she taught me how to blow dry it with a barrel brush and «unravel» it towards the end so I can get that gorgeous bounce and really have fun with the new layers she gave me! I also received a deep condition treatment, which I’ve never had and I really notice the difference! I will definitely go back for routine cuts and refer my friends! Affordable prices as well! Simply put… Awesome! Had a time issue, but George got us in. This was our first time using Smart Clips, but it will not be our last. Customer service was great and my wife’s cut and color turned out great!
I’ve lived in OB a long time. Sometimes the local businesses can be long on customer service, but short on quality (beach/​tourist community), Smart Clips wasn’t like that… at all. Go there, you won’t be disappointed.

I just moved to OB. It was my first time here and George gave me a fabulous cut. He’s a pro and is really good with the scissors. I love all my layers! The salon is really comfy and clean. I will be back and would recommend him to a friend!

Megan is excellent at color and truly has an understanding of what her client wants. She is very accommodating to her clients and always wants to ensure they have a great experience. I am very pleased with her services and will continue to see her!

Just googled places to get my haircut in OB and stumbled across this gem. George squeezed my roommate and I in even after he was closing up (he even took another guy in after us). George is as skilled a barber as they come and hilarious to boot. Seriously one of the best haircut experiences of my life and I am so happy I found this place! I will definitely be coming back. I had my hair cut by George today, he has cut my hair since smart clips opened. I won’t trust anyone else to touch it and I am very very picky, he’s Amazing and everyone who works there is friendly. Customer service is perfect. I recommend this place to all of my friends/​family. Can’t say anything but great things about this salon and the employees

This salon is unpretentious (it’s in the heart of OB), quaint and just awesome! I want to give a shout out to both Theresa/​Teresa and Jason. Theresa/​Teresa has been my hubby’s hairstylist for the past 3 years and she has ALWAYS done an amazing job. He sees her every 4 – 6 weeks and she has not disappointed.
The last time my hubby went to get his haircut, I tagged along because I needed a «hair repair» from the most screwed up haircut I’d ever had (I will be reviewing that salon, too). I saw Jason who is incredible! He fixed my hair and made it the way it should have been. He was easy to talk to, is extremely talented with his scissors and he listened to what what I wanted.
The salon is a bit out of the way but we don’t mind. When you find talent, you travel for it! You can’t go wrong with either Theresa/​Teresa and Jason!

Great prices, staff, and service.
All the staff are great at what they do. No matter who you get to do your hair, you won’t be let down. I’ve been going to Sarah for 2 years now, and she always does an excellent job. Super cool girl, great to talk to, and knows how to do her job very well.
Complimentary wine or beer with hair service. Unbeatable prices.

George is awesome. He cuts my hair right for a reasonable price, is a great conversationalist, and really has a way with plants.
My only complaint is my wife gets liquor when she gets her hair cut, and i have yet to get a drop of the tonic!

Gotta love this place! Everyone who’s done my hair was great! I had Theresa, Jason and George, they are extremely friendly, patient, informative and accomodating.

The salon I’d been frequenting switched stylists for the fourth or so time in the past year plus, this past time was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I decided to try Smart Clips on whim and was more than satisfied. Theresa gave me an amazing haircut, second only to the scalp massage that she gave afterwards. The price is more than affordable, and if you buy 5 haircuts you get the 6^th free. What a deal!
