First time here but not my last. Stopped by for a Saturday morning breakfast if huevos rancheros and it was great. Nice spice on both the eggs and potatoes. Also came with a sausage and fresh tortilla. Service was as good as the food.

Came here for lunch today this place is pretty close to my job. I had a cheese burger, sweet potato fries and onion rings. That ran me about $ 20. The food was alright but for a burger and fries there are so many better options. The outdoor seating area was DISGUSTING. I can’t image its had a thorough cleaning in years. The condiments were covered in dirt and dust. Never again.

this review is only for coffee service, but the service and coffee here is amazing! 5⁄5 for sure! i was in the neighbourhood and wanted to grab some coffee when i noticed this place. they had sugar-free torani syrup, which was enough to sell me. there was tons of seating inside; it had a dark, almost pub-style bistro vibe which seemed good for a casual sit down lunch or dinner. we sat on the patio, which was quite large(wrapping around the whole restaurant) with comfortable chairs. i can see parking being an issue here, although i didn’t investigate the options since i was already parked in a lot. they had some baked goods(cookies/scones) and a I didn’t check out the menu, but at quick glance it seemed like a full, extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. a sign stated they were ranked as the«best cajun food in san diego.» got a large drip coffee with sugar-free hazelnut torani. it was sooooo good. the coffee was mellow and smooth(even when it got cold and without milk/cream) and the torani added that extra bit of flavour. she didn’t charge me extra for the syrup and the coffee was only $ 2.70 with tax. my guest’s americano was apparently equally delicious without any sugar or milk/cream. the best part was when i asked the server, named jessica, to reheat my coffee. she used the steamer from her cappuchino maker and it not only made it super hot, but frothed it up and made it taste creamy! the coolest trick i’ve ever seen!!! we ended up spending hours on the patio talking and noone minded, which was nice. jessica offered me a free refill and used the steamer to steam the torani syrup first, then put in the coffee and it was even better! i cannot get over this trick. i will always ask for my coffee to be made this way! i suggested she bring in the sugar-free salted caramel torani and she stated she will tell the management; its nice to see employees taking suggestions to help improve the business. bottom line: jessica rocks; she’s friendly and sweet and knows how to make good coffee! i learned a new trick. i had a relaxing morning on the patio and didn’t feel rushed to order anything more or leave. while i’m not in the area often and parking might be an issue, i will definitely check out the menu and come back when i’m close by.

One of my longtime favorites in the business district of downtown San Diego. Wonderfully located on the corner of 6th& B. The hamburgers are juicy. The side salads are quite large with fresh vegetables. The red beans and rice are a longtime staple which I love. Owner Jack and his staff are fantastic too.

Nice little bistro in downtown San Diego. Of course, because of the location, you’ll need to find street parking or a nearby parking lot. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating(good for people watching)… a bar and beers on tap. Staff was nice and provided excellent service. We came here for lunch and shared the Tuna Melt Sandwich. One of the best tuna melts we have ever had. The tasty white albacore tuna salad mix was combined with melted swiss and american cheeses in between soft yet crispy sourdough bread. French fries were light, crispy, and delicious. They have a plethora of food options with all types of pastries, breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. We’d come back to try new things, but it will be hard to pass up an opportunity to eat another tuna melt-in-your-mouth meal.

Was looking for a restaurant close to by to grab a quick bite to eat near the Copley Symphony before attending our concert. This place was only a couple blocks away so we decided to give this place a try. Atmosphere: small café’/ restaurant traditional style. which also had a full bar and a nice selection of beers on tap from local SD breweries. tv’s at the bar as well as seating. Food: I didn’t want stuff my face and sit in a symphony all full with the itis, so I shared a meal with my fiancée’. Fish & Chips: 4 moderate sized fried fish(cod i believe) w/coleslaw and fries(upgraded to Aspen Fries/white truffle oil) The fish was bland and the bread coating was heavy. The fries were great though. Seasoned. Perfect crunch and light on the white truffle oil. My brother ordered the chicken quesadilla. Nothing special about it. came with regular fries. the quesadilla reminded me of taco bells version. fries were ok. and their salsa tasted watered down. Drinks: House vodka(seagrams) w/squeezed lemon.(hefty pour) $ 6 Moscow Mule($ 7) Pint of Sculpin($ 6) Service: friendly. moderate. ok Overall: A-ok. This place is good if there is no other choices around within a couple blocks. Drinks kinda pricey for a café. Food was so-so. Most likely will not be coming back unless everything else is closed around and this is the last resort.

Ummm… Work right around the corner from this place stopped by for lunch with a co-worker. Originally, I was very understanding with the wait as it was lunch time.(Should they staff accordingly?!) After having been sitting for 5 – 10 minutes we had to let the waitress know twice we wanted to order food. Once, we got our food both of our orders were wrong :(We figured we needed to get back to work so just sucked it up. Without question if your into frozen/canned food this is your place. No fresh food :( The place feels a little old/outdated if your planning a business meeting try another place.

First the customer service was excellent. My girlfriend wasn’t that hungry and just wanted some watermelon. The restaurant accommodated her request for fresh watermelon. I ordered the two plus two breakfast with wheat toast. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. There was even enough for my lady to eat some of the potatoes, bacon and toast. So the portions were plenty. I am not sure why this place has 3 stars as I was very happy with my overall experience.

Passionately mediocre. Intensely pedestrian. Aggressively neutral. It kind of reminds me of food you get in a hotel lobby. Its made to appeal to the widest audience possible. You go here because it’s close to work and one of the few sit down restaurants in the area with a large, traditional menu. It’s the kind of place you go on a work lunch when you have people with varied tastes so everyone settles on middle-of-the-road.

What a great breakfast! Our waitress seemed to be handling the entire room and she was doing a great job and had a wonderful personality! The Bloody Mary’s were delicious, as was the coffee. We both had the Early riser, a combo of eggs, meat and pancakes. Outstanding! I had their house salsa on my eggs which was outstanding.

This the third morning we ate breakfast here because the food is high quality, simple, well prepared and inexpensive! Weekend specials on mimosas and great bloody Mary’s– only $ 3.50 sat/sun all day. Good service and super chef w a New Orleans touch to food. Coffee is hearty, rich, and hot! We’ll be back.

I came here on lunch break with 4 other coworkers. Our waitress started out great — attentive, funny, fast. Thennn she was no where to be found. Waited 10+ minutes for our check, which is ridiculous. You’d think they know their weekday lunchtime customers need to get back to work… Food was okay. Pricey for what it is. I got mac & cheese and it was pretty cheesy but they charge $ 5 extra for 3 thin slices of sausage… Definitely a rip off. Though I do want to point out the fries are amazing! Top 7 fries ever. 90% sure I will not be returning.

Camilla the Unilocaling Hen digs this place for odd reasons. She loves that she feels so young and like a chick on symphony nights when the older generation hits this place up, and she thinks they have about the most squishy carpet out there. I like brunch here best. They always have coupons which is sweet. They also tend to have nice servers. For brunch my eggs were cooked well with nary a runny one in sight. Camilla’s and BCBPs Bloody Mary’s were strong and had the zing of veggies that in their minds helps them argue that it is actually a health drink. Seriously, try arguing with them about it… At night during the symphony it has a decidedly older crowd that provides some excellent people watching. I was surprised the little bar area filled up so fast! Also they have a truly legit Stella set up with a magic ice tap and proper glasses. Check out their coupons in that little savings mag that comes in the mail and save some money as you dine. I suggest brunch for the drink specials!

Our go to place before the symphony. Over the course of the last 10 years I must have eaten here 50 times and it is always been consistently good. A business casual kind of place where all the food seems to be prepared fresh and it has a full bar. My favorites include the corned beef sandwich which is made from freshly cooked corned beef. Tonight I had the meatloaf with a dark from mushroom sauce over herbed potatoes. excellent.

Oh goodness me. No. Trust me folks, I get it — the line at Donut Bar is out the door and you’re hungry NOW, but Sixth Avenue Bistro probably won’t deliver. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? I will say that the service and atmosphere at Sixth are fine, with friendly staff who you have your food out to you quickly. There are a couple of televisions in the mix as well and indoor and outdoor seating, so the setting is fine for essentially anyone. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I’m a huge fan of corned beef hash, and since it’s not exactly commonplace on most menus, I make a real point to snag it when I can. While I didn’t take a picture, I had a decent portion here of eggs, hash, and toast, combo’d with a side order of turkey sausage. The main hash dish came to $ 10.95, which, while not ideal, wasn’t unreasonable. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Oof. No. Not at all. The corned beef hash? canned. clearly. the eggs? hard to mess up, but a bit on the runny side. The toast? How can you mess up toast? But it’s the turkey sausage that was really disappointing. We’re talking burned and devoid of any flavor whatsoever. This was not an enjoyable meal. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Wait in line for the donuts. They’re worth it. No Star Granted.

I came here during the morning with a couple of friends. We sat outside in their patio. My friends has a dog, so this place is dog-friendly. The waitress offered a dog treat and water bowl. Talk about service! The food I ordered was the early bird special. The special I went with included french toast, eggs, sausage and a watermelon. Delicious! I don’t know about the parking in the area. My friends live near by so we walked.
