Working out at this gym has really changed my life in a positive direction. I’ve been working out here for about 6 months and it made some incredible gains in strength and overall conditioning. I have lost well over 20 pounds of fat mass and gained approximately 6 pounds of lean muscle at the same time. I went from being able to back squat 95 pounds for 5 repetitions with bad form and a lot of imbalances to being able to back squat 285 pounds for 5 repetitions with good form and way better mobility. I increased my deadlift from 135 pounds for 5 repetitions to 355 pounds for 5 repetitions in the same time. Kyle provides a good balance of coaching knowledge and motivation to help you continue making good gains and setting realistic goals for yourself. If you have some type of event or fitness goal that you’re trying to achieve I do believe that Kyle’s experience and training philosophies will help you get there.

I have been coming to Kyle since August 2014. I’m amazed at how strong I am! He really works with me to make a plan around what I want to accomplish. I really like the people at the gym. Everyone is friendly and down to earth. Kyle knows his stuff! He knows technical terms for everything. If I don’t understand something he breaks it down in easier terms for me. I would recommend Kyle to anyone who wants to achieve their personal strength goals!

I started training here just a few months ago. I had never done any serious weight training before, and have been really happy with the progress I’ve made. My main goals are functional fitness (being able to do what I want, and protecting myself from injury) and overall good health (avoiding osteoporosis, keeping/​building muscle mass, maintaining a healthy weight).
Kyle Boggeman, the founder of SDSC, is an NSCA-​certified Personal Trainer, and Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Which is to say he’s highly educated and qualified, not some meathead who just hung out a «Trainer» sign or bought into a franchise.
SDSC is a small, personal facility, not a huge faceless chain gym. It’s located near Friars and Mission Gorge, and is right behind the Aikido dojo where I’ve trained for years, which made it a no-​brainer for me to give this place a try.
I’ve kept coming here and working with Kyle because he is very knowledgeable, experienced, and encouraging. He’s an awesome trainer for anyone from brand-​new, never-​done-​a-​deadlift-​before newbies to professional athletes. Kyle is very careful about safety and form, especially if you have old injuries, etc., and I have a bunch of them. It might help to know I’m in my early 50s, and would like to still be out having fun for decades to come. This is part of my strategy for accomplishing that.
The folks I’ve met at the gym have all been nice and supportive, from a father and adult son starting training together to women and men preparing for matches or competitions. It’s a very low-​key, comfortable environment — no shouting or chanting.
Kyle offers a Group Strength program, which is a kind of drop-​in-​whenever open-​gym time where he supervises everyone and gives direction and coaching. That’s available on weekday afternoons/​evenings (check the website), and Saturday mornings, all for one very reasonable price.
If you’re looking for a personal trainer, give him a call, and visit the place. If you thought you were looking to join a big gym, consider investing a little more in yourself and getting personal coaching and a good, safe workout here instead.

I have been working with Kyle for almost 2 years now twice a week. Always pushing me to my limits and never had a single problem with injury. It is the attention to detail, proper form, and building/​adjusting programs based on my strength and fitness goals that have made San Diego Strength and Conditioning a part of my weekly routine. The facility itself is quiet and comfortable and has all of the professional equipment you would expect; Everything is always clean and well kept.
Kyle is the absolute best and is extremely articulate and scientific in his description for how various exercises and lifts can benefit you. He is a really nice guy and always has safety as top priority.

Vito has helped me to achieve my personal best in health and endurance sports. I have been training with Vito for over a year and he has helped me to achieve my fitness and weight loss goals. I begain training with Vito as a novice triathlete with a distaste for the last leg of a triathlon: the run. His wealth of knowledge and breadth of experience have helped me to turn a dislike of running into a love of running. Where I used to have problems with pain in my knees, he has guided me to a pain-​free run. Where I used to get shin splints, his nutritional advice and physical guidance have made this a thing of the past. I love running now and since training with Vito I have completed two half marathons and look forward to many more.
His comprehensive approach to fitness as a way of life has encouraged me to consider the impact of all that I do. When I first started training with Vito, I was new to endurance sports and naïve about the importance of nutritional balance before, during, and after activity. He developed a complete nutritional plan which was easy to follow and helped me to achieve personal records on triathlons and half marathons.
Vito has a «steel trap memory» and has retained so many details of my personal history in regards to fitness and training. I truly feel like a valued client of a trainer who cares about my results.
Vito’s charm and personality ensure that training is also a fun experience. His kid-​like zest for life spills into training sessions and I often feel like I am a kid again back on the playground.
When I started training with Vito, I doubted that I needed a personal trainer. Vito has transformed my opinion but I don’t need just any personal trainer. I’ve tried others, they are not the same. I need him. And I am confident he can help many others transform their health and fitness and reach their personal goals.

I have spent over a year working with Kyle. In that time I have undergone a total transformation in terms of my strength and endurance abilities. Other reviews have touched on how knowledgable Kyle is. I cannot stress this point enough. He has a profound scientific understanding of the body and it’s mechanisms relating to exercise and he uses this to attain great results. His research and thirst for knowledge is unceasing, which sets him apart from many other trainers and coaches. He specializes in strength and conditioning but is capable and willing to help you with whatever goals you have in mind. Training with Kyle at SDSC you will most likely find that your goals are far surpassed.
Here’s a little history — I initially began training with Kyle because I wanted to increase my strength and endurance for judo which, politely put, was kicking my ass. I have surpassed all my goals and also increased my ankle stability (which was a real and persistent problem for me since an accident many years ago) to the point where it does not affect me or my physical activity any more. I attribute this solely to my training with Kyle.
The gym is clean, quiet (unless you like to train to music, which is your choice) and there is a great assortment of equipment to use ranging from olympic rings, professional power racks and a full dumbbell rack to exercise cycles, treadmills and balance balls, not to mention some more unconventional tools like kegs and monster truck tires.
I love training here. I know my interests and safety are paramount and I know I’m being given the best tools and techniques possible. Try it out, you’ll dig.
