I have been coming to this Ruth’s Chris steakhouse for years. It is always excellent. The food s well prepared, waiters and management are attentive. Location is great!

This place does not have their **** together at happy hour. The hostesses were not very friendly. We got here at 4:30pm. We are a large group so they said they would put some tables together for us at 4:33pm. Apparently they had to grow the tree that our table came from because we did not get seated until 5:10pm. Because we were a large group, they put two tables together in the dining room for us. However, the hostess did not tell any of the servers so we sat for 10 minutes without any service until we flagged the hostess for a waiter. Adam came over and was very apologetic. He quickly got our orders placed. Because we were in the dining room but getting HH, Adam was our server for part of the time and the rest of the time there was another guy. There was some confusion when we tried to pay our check; they didn’t bring it back to us for 10 minutes. I expect more from Ruth’s Chris.

We are just leaving now and I just couldn’t wait to comment about the service we received tonight with Trevor! We always try to find somewhere to eat that’s really unique or the new«it“restaurant. And I can now say that this tried and true restaurant is the experience we have been missing out on, restaurant weeks past! We had never been to Ruth’s Chris for some reason! When we arrived, we were seated immediately although our reservation wasn’t until half hour later. We must have just beat the rush, because the dining room filled up! One of my favorite times of the whole service is that our server came up and called me by my name! At first I thought I left my headlights on in the parking lot or left my credit card somewhere, but no it was just good service! Throughout our dinner, Trevor nailed the wine suggestion, mind read our intentions to try one of everything on the restaurant week menu and when the end came and I was too full for dessert, he was like, how about just one, it will help you finish that last bit of wine… It pairs perfect! The sin cake tastes like the best parts of the homemade chocolate pudding my grandma used to make! We will be back for sure! It was my birthday too and Trevor took a great picture, even knowing how to turn the flash on to make it better! That would have taken my husband 10 mins! Our water glasses were full the whole time, the steak cooked perfectly, my napkin was folded origami style when I left the table for a moment and I felt like we were never left unattended.

Family dinner during restaurant week. Been wanting to come here for awhile but haven’t had the chance. First time here and maybe last. We were greeted promptly and sat down given we were on time to our reservation. 15 min has passed since we sat down and no water. 1st sign of a long night. Apps. Came out and the ahi tuna salad was good. Then came the entrée. I ordered the fillet and shrimp. Filet was over cooked and chew. My husband ordered the rib-eye and that ended up being overly salted. Note* water was never again refilled between apps and entrée. Only refilled during desert. You would think spending that kind of money, you would get prompted service. Only time we saw our own server was when he took the order and gave us our check. Next time, I would just drive another 5 miles or so north and head to TruLuck’s steakhouse instead. There, your water glass is always full and service is guaranteed to be exceptional.

One of my favorite dinner spots in SD. Steaks are great but the sides and appetizers are phenomenal. Great wine and cocktails too. This place never disappoints. Ruth’s, please bring back the crab martini appetizer and also the banana dessert. Both were amazing. I miss them.

This Ruth’s Chris location is on par with the others food wise. I think what makes it special for me is the location and the interior. The interior is probably the nicest i’ve seen, although I haven’t been to BH location. And the view is grand. it’s perched up on a hill and looking out you can see the ocean(I think you can, that’s my memory of it anyways lol). We sat by the window, which I would suggest. It’s really cool, I would go back just for the ambience of the place.

Superb service(by Trevor and his support team) executed precisely and thoughtfully. The meal was excellent!(stuffed mushrooms, tomato salad, filet mignon, crab cakes, lobster Mac and cheese, and aspargus, and chocolate duo dessert). Would do it all again, and surely will. Thank you for the experience!

The food was awesome. Our 2nd server was awesome. Prior to our reservation seating we went to the bar and ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon. We had to ask to have it put on ice. Once it was put ice after our 1st glass we had to asked to get it poured. When we transferred to our table we once again had to ask for it to be put on ice. Our first server ended up giving our table away(he apparently did not see what we were drinking) and took a large table next to us instead. Perhaps it was that we were women, looking a bit tomboy in our Chargers gear, beanie hats included just coming from the last Chargers game and being big fans. We did proceed to order 2 more very expensive bottles of wine. Too bad for the 1st server who had a table full of people, kids included who had single cocktails! Ooops. Anyway, the 2nd server was much better but the experience was not one expected from a place like Ruth Chris. The food was really good. Filet done perfectly!

I am in a food coma. So the rest of this review should be taken with a grain of salt. And butter. First, our server Parker, top notch. He recommended a fantastic Cabernet. I enjoyed it but chose my own bottle. It was good, but not near as good as Parker’s suggestion. They swapped the bottle at no extra charge. Don’t question your server’s recommendation! Second, my husband makes the best steak in America. For reals. Until tonight. Desserts? Couldn’t tell you, cause I ate EVERYTHING else. I ain’t got time for dessert. Ambiance? Ok, it’s more corporate than romantic, but when your steak is that good… well, let’s just say I only had eyes for my steak.

One of the best filets in town. I’m also a fan of their creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and cheesecake. The filet is usually served dead on the perfect temperature but on a few occasions, the hot plate cooked the filet beyond medium. The servers noticed on those occasions and appropriately waited until I cut into it to see if it was too overdone. Service is what I like best at Ruth’s Chris — it just can’t be beat. I dine at this location about 3 – 4 times a year through company events and vendor sponsored luncheons, so I can’t really comment much on the value or current prices. But the last time I was here for a special occasion, I didn’t feel that I overpaid and the quality of service definitely lives up to its standard. I have visited restaurants located in other cities and the quality and service is always consistent with this chain. You can’t really miss going to them for special occasions or for taking special clients out for steaks.

We came here for a business dinner meeting and thought the food was amazing! We were first greeted with warm complimentary bread and butter. We got the steakhouse salad with balsamic vinaigrette, petit filet mignon(with a side of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach), and chocolate sin cake which were all super tasty and cooked to perfection. The steak came out SIZZLING on the plate and melted in my mouth! The service was friendly and prompt. We were in a private room in the back which was quieter than the main dining area. This location is snuggled in the middle of a business area of Carmel Valley but has a large, beautiful dining area with ocean views during the daytime. Though upscale, it was pretty loud so be prepared to shout across the table to your dining guests. Be prepared to valet park as the self-park area gets pretty packed during dinner time. Otherwise, one of the best steak restaurants in San Diego!

My hubby, son and 4yr old 1st time at Ruth Chris. Classy from the ambience to the service and beyond on their quality of steaks! Hubby had a bone in NY and they brought him an array of steak knives for his special cut to chose from. I had the 16oz Ribeye and my son had ordered the Chilean Sea bass which they ran out of after ordering so he chose the swordfish. Our sides were brussel sprouts and sweet potato casserole(amazing). We just ordered fries since my daughter had stuffed herself with the bread that came out but she didn’t touch them — now normally we wouldn’t EVER bother taking home leftover fries but OMG they were so delicious that we had too… Yes we were eating them. I’ve been to Ruth Chris’s a couple of times in Hawaii but this was the first time in Cali– and I’m sooooo glad that we have the means to enjoy and splurge on a wonderful delicious family night out.

Came here for our wedding anniversary. Had high expectations as this is quite a famous brand. My wife ordered the filet mignon and I had the ribeye(my favorite cut), with creamed spinach and baked potato as our sides. To be perfectly honest, the quality of the meat and other ingredients were only on par with Outback Steakhouse, which is pretty pathetic considering the price point. To make matters worse, the steaks were both overcooked(medium-well instead of medium-rare like we ordered). We didn’t bother asking for a redo since we had waited a long time already(even with reservation) and were hungry. The only thing that bumped this review up from a one-star was the complimentary dessert, which was very tasty! I enjoyed Lone Star Steakhouse a LOT more, for a third of the price spent here. They always get your order PERFECT and the meat is of a higher quality than Ruth’s Chris. Unfortunately, in this case, you DON’T get what you pay for.

If you have a food allergy or like your food warm and correct this would not be the place for you — lacks services & edible food I ordered a salad I don’t eat bacon 3 times the salad had bacon 3 times in it. Also had the waiter & manager make fun of this saying it’s just a little bacon ! I also am highly allergic to blue cheese asked for none in the salad & there was. My friends sent their food back 3 times also not correct.

I came here last night for my birthday and my brothers and it was an okay experience. I mean it’s cool that our birthday lands on SDRW every year so we get a pre-fixed menu. At first we were all asked for sparkling or stilled watered. Didn’t really know what the difference was so we just said stilled water because that seemed the most regular out of the choices of two. Each one of us picked out the $ 40 and $ 50 menu. Was kind of disappointed since the menu online off SDRW was slightly different so it was a bummer. Basically the $ 40 menu didn’t get a appetizer. Anyways, food came out and the starters were delicious! We killed basically everything! Then the steaks came out and mine and 2 others that ordered medium well was too over cooked so we had them remake it. They didn’t have a problem with it and took it back without questions asked. We just had to wait for it while everyone else was eating. The filet cuts wasn’t as great as I thought it would be because I’ve had better where the steak would look just like the picture shown. Oh well… So that was done with. Then, the dessert, most of us got the cheesecake and it was to die for! Probably one of the best I ever had and they also wrote happy birthday on our plates with a little scoop of ice cream. All in all, we got the bill. Came out to $ 514 and we all put in cash to what we ate plus tip but we were still short. We come to realize that we were charged $ 40 for 5 bottles of water. I mean we had no idea that we had to pay for water. We only had the option of the two which was sparking and stilled water. It was just disappointing and if I had the chance to choose«regular» I would. We just didn’t know. But for next time, I guess I need to be aware of this and ask for the water that’s not being charged. We barely drank the water too and he kept opening more and more water bottles to fill it up. Anyways, now I know what to say when we order water. And I’ll probably have to choose a different steakhouse for my filet dinner. Probably won’t be back for awhile.

First Impressions: This place is tucked away and you would never think of driving up this road. Thankfully Ruth’s Chris has a long standing reputation, I don’t think any other restaurant could survive here. I think this location is actually best when you have some day light hours, there is a great view of the valley. It is of course, very beautiful inside and on what you would expect from this kind of fine dining. The Service: Our sever was really wonderful. She was friendly, made suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the menu. She offered historical insight about the use of espresso in the World War and why lemon is used. She was friendly and attentive. I was very pleased with the service. The Food: We all decided to take advantage of the special, which was a choice of select meats, an appetizer and a dessert. It was a really great deal. We all order the Rib Eye, all three selected a different salad. We also got mashed potatoes and the corn side dish. The steaks were perfect. The mashed potatoes were amazing and the corn side dish was surprisingly refreshing. The dessert was nice, not as good as the rest of the meal, but we ended the evening espresso and a cappuccino; the best we’d ever had. Overall: This was an incredible meal, perfectly fit for celebrating a birthday(which is why we came). Thank you for a wonderful evening.

What a great experience from beginning to end here last night. My husband made reservations for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We were seated at one of the best seats in the house. At about 7:30PM they retracted the shades and we had the perfect view of the sunset. It was beautiful! Our table was also decked out with little silver«Happy Anniversary» confetti and our menu also says«Happy Anniversary!». So awesome! We ordered: –Dirty Goose Martini –Moscow Mule –Cocktail Shrimp(4 huge prawn sized shrimps) –Porterhouse for two(40 oz on a plate to share, this is probably enough to feed 3 people) with blue cheese crust –Lobster mac n cheese –Sweet potato casserole The shrimp cocktail was a great start, they were huge and the cocktail sauce was made really well. The porterhouse was so melt in your mouth delicious and the blue cheese crust was a perfect topping. The lobster mac n cheese had a jalapeño flavor to it that I really enjoyed and the sweet potato casserole has been one of our fav sides and still is. We had a ton of left overs and this is one of the few times we’re excited to be going home with some food for tomorrow. Always the case with Ruth’s. Our waiter also offered our choice of a free dessert. We went with the Crème brûlée and had no regrets! It came out with two candles lit with Happy Anniversary written on the plate in chocolate. What a great way to end the evening. Michael, our waiter and the entire waitstaff made the night extra special. Thank you Ruth’s!!! We’ll be back next year!

4.5 Stars! My faith in Ruth’s Chris steakhouse has been restored! We came here for restaurant week and the food was good, but not great. It was very crowded and I think the quality went down some. On Friday night, we came back to Ruth’s Chris and the food was delicious! We didn’t have a reservation, but with everyone at Coachella, there wasn’t much of a wait around 7pm. We were seated upstairs and the dining area was about 1⁄3 full when we arrived. It’s a bit quieter upstairs. Looking over the menu, they have a three course prix fixe menu(similar to restaurant week) and two price points — $ 43.95 and $ 54.95. Both of us selected the $ 43.95 prix fixe. I got the 1) Steak House Salad, 2) 6 oz filet with shrimp, 3) Mashed potatoes, and White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake with Chocolate Almond Bark was the only dessert selection. My friend got the same except 1) Caesar Salad and 2) Sauteed mushrooms. There are several other selections for the $ 43.95 prix fixe menu which include: Butter Lettuce BLT salad or| Chicken Tortellini Soup. Other entrees include: Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops, Stuffed Chicken Breast or Chef’s Fresh Fish Selection. Other sides include: Fire Roasted Corn, Green Beans with Roasted Garlic or Creamed Spinach. I also had an Oatmeal Stout which was very good and almost like a meal in itself! My friend had their Riesling. Service was very good and the food was brought out HOT, HOT, HOT! I really like their warm bread(soft inside, crispy outside) with whipped butter. Great meal, I’ll be back! Please see my pictures! Cheers. Xie Xie!!!

I decided it was about time for my crew and I to do a happy hour. One of my friends said she had never been to Ruth’s Chris for happy hour so we all agreed so we meet up there. My friend arrived at about 430 which is when happy hour starts and there were no bar tables available. So she sat at the bar and saved a few seats for the rest of us which was fine. It ended up being nine of us but it all worked out fine. Happy hour was from 430 to 630 and everything on the happy hour menu was $ 8. I ordered the steak sandwich with fries which was good but a little bland for my taste. The fries didn’t have much seasoning and probably could’ve been cooked a little longer, but add a little ketchup and everything was yummy. One of my friends ordered the ahi tuna which was delicious! I would have to say that was my favorite dish on the happy hour menu. Another friend ordered the spicy lobster which was tasty but not as good as the ahi tuna. As far as drinks go, like I said everything was $ 8 on the happy hour menu. I ordered a Cosmo which was pretty good and my friend ordered the Cabernet. I must admit I will be looking for that cab stores! Ha ha. All in all, it’s a pretty nice happy hour. Next time I plan on ordering the burger and a side of the sweet potato casserole which is one of my favorites at Ruth’s Chris. We will definitely be back very soon!!!
