This place is great! My office decided to order several sandwiches and I ordered the spicy tuna, and my coworker ordered the pastrami. We did this so we could swap ½ of our sandwiches with each other. The spicy tuna was piled on fresh jalapeño bread with all the usual toppings. This thing was good. The second half I had that was pastrami was good. Im not sure how they cook it, or cut it, but its very tender, and had tons of flavor. If you’re reading this you need to eat her. you wont regret it

Aww man! That was good! I ordered the half Rubicon Special on Jalapeño Jack with the Bacon Potato Salad(you had me at ‘bacon’) Both the sandwich and salad were EXCELLENT! I underestimated the kick of the bread, Twas quite spicy! NICE! Time for a nap!

Had the Pastrami. Very very good! If you’re not too hungry I would go for a half order because their full sandwich is a good size. Check in on Unilocal and you’ll get the offer for free cookies!

I loved the vibe and style of this place, very dapper. I also loved: .The bread, soooo yummy and fresh. I had such a hard time deciding which to order but took the jalapeño cheese and the pesto in the end. .The house chips, very tasty .The lemonade… but I really wanted to try one of the sodas(see below) .The fact that all sandwiches are served with a pickle and a mini cookie .The large chocolate chip cookie, soft baked with a thin layer of choco goodness in the middle. mmmm Based on the above I really wanted to give more then 3 stars but overall I was disappointed because: .They had a Shirley Temple spout at the soda fountain that was out of order(sad emoji) .My sandwich was missing the avocado that I ordered and paid for .When I asked for mustard I didn’t expect both sides of the bread to be smothered in the stuff(I am a mustard lover, but this was way too much) .As a result of the mustard overload the bread was the only reason I didn’t hate my sandwich .I ended up enjoying my son’s grilled cheese more than my own lunch(by the way the cheese wasn’t all the way melted…) I think I need a do-over because my first impression was really good but in the end I just wasn’t thrilled with the fact that we paid almost 40 dollars for 2 half sandwiches, 2 drinks, 2 cookies and one kids half melted grilled cheese. After eriting this I’m actually considering changing my rating to 2 stars now…

Probably my favorite sandwich shop in SD. Great ingredients and options, fresh baked bread, and they take pride in their sandwiches. My top 3 recommendations: 1. Dapper Dipper:(with Dutch crunch bread) roasted tri-tip, crispy onions, Swiss, horseradish and au jus. 2. Belly Up: kind of a riff on a bahn mi. pork belly, sweet & spicy coleslaw. 3. Rich Boy: seasoned grilled chicken, Monterey Jack, avocado, lettuce, tomato, Tabasco mayo. Great fresh baked bread options: Dutch crunch, garlic cheese, jalapeño Jack, blue cheese, pesto, wheat. They added some new side options too which is great compared to just chips. Complimentary cookie too. Negatives: skip the acai bowl and parking as usually hard to find.

Save room for soup! I have such a crush on your cream of mushroom. I need not say more. And it is unthinkable I would even consider anything else on the menu without getting another cup of that magnificent soup. So, one week after my virgin soup experience here, on our way back through San Diego, we did a do-over. Yeah, like it wasn’t still wonderful? Guess again. Don’t know if they do it every day or what, but Rubicon, for this you shall hold a special place in my heart. Just happen to be coming through again next weekend! See you then.

This is the first time I actually ate at this location. I usually frequent the PB location but since we were nearby we stopped by. Parking is not ideal but we found a spot a block away and walked to the location. I ordered a half Rubicon Special on dutch crunch. They added tomato even though I asked them not to. My husband ordered the full Dom Pastram on dutch crunch. He throughly enjoyed it. They also had a kid’s sandwich, turkey and your choice of cheese. My daughter loved it. I wasn’t sure to order their house chips or the packaged kettle chips. The cashier was very nice and offered me a sample. They were very good and my daughter ate most of them. Overall it was okay. It’s a good place to people watch, just wish they had more ample parking. 32⁄100

Amazing food! Ordered the Rich Boy. sandwich was huge and so delicious! The chicken inside was juicy and it was lovingly embraced by avocado and jalapeño bread. The general manager and employees were really helpful too. Overall great experience and I will be back whenever I visit. Highly recommend!

Before trying out this location, I’ve already tried out their other location in Mission Beach. My fiancé and I are big sandwich lovers, so I chose this place one night to introduce him to this heaven-sent deli. I usually get the stallion, but this time I got the Rich Boy. I wasn’t too impressed with its flavor. The chipotle flavor didn’t meet my expectations, I thought it’d be a lot stronger and the garlic tabasco mayo tasted more like mayo than anything else. I know their other sandwiches are better, I was just disappointed with this last one. But other than that, the little sit-in diner-esque side is super cute and definitely a great spot for a lunch date for hip young couples — or any interior design enthusiast. Their fountain drinks are the BOMB! And street parking wasn’t such an issue. Definitely love this little place and can’t wait to come back.

This has been our 6th time at this Deli. We live in Santee and can say we will drive out of our way to come enjoy a good sandwich. Never seem to have issue parking. Also maybe because we always stop by on a Wednesday or a Thursdays. Have tried about 4 different sandwiches and about 2 salads and 1 soup. I can’t remember all of them but today I had a make your own… Jalapeño bread, turkey, provolone, pickles, lettuce, onions and habanero mustard.(Spicy and delish!!) we added the tomato basil soup … Just perfection. This will be my go to sandwich when visiting this place. Customer service can be a hit or miss, i’ve never had a terrible experience but there has been sometimes where I just barely received a smile. Sandwhich was still good though! Ha

They make one mean sandwich at this place. It’s quite apparent that they understand that the key is to use strong bread that will contain it all without falling apart, with the bleu cheese bread being the perfect example of this. The Rich Boy sandwich with that bread? Wonderful.

Mmm… that signature cracked bread. You think it’s going to be tough, but it really is a great kind of crusty bread. It’s got the right amount of crunch and the right amount of soft. They pack these sandwiches with the good stuff and if you see my photo, you’ll see how large the sandwiches are in comparison to say … a pen. I tried the stallion and my co-worker John said it is his favorite. I can at least say that they do italian sandwiches right! Being that they are on India St., they better! If you want a good sandwich, this will not dissappoint, Rubicon deli makes a good sandwich!

I was introduced to this place by my brother. I stop in every time I’m in town. Love their breakfast sandwiches. Their fries rock and please don’t forget their big cookies! This is a must, even though your meal comes with a smaller sized cookie. Very clean! Love it clean.

Well I am really disappointed to have to update my 5 star review to a 1 star review. However, after today I don’t see any other choice. My boyfriend and I were having two friends over for the Super Bowl this afternoon. We placed an online order at 10:30 this morning for 4 sandwiches and scheduled a 1:30 pm pick up. The order was placed with no issues. We arrived at 1:30 to pick up the sandwiches. We gave the woman our name and she said, «Oh okay. Well we are all out of bread…» The woman could not have seemed to care less and did not work with us to try to find any sort of alternative items for us to order. We walked out, confused and angry at the customer service we received in regards to this issue. I am not writing this review because I am angry that Rubicon Deli did not have bread. I used to work in a deli and it would happen from time to time. I am writing because Rubicon had 3 hours to contact us and let us know that they would be unable to fulfill our order but they DIDNOT. Instead, we arrived at and were coldly let down by the woman behind the counter. This is a customer service issue that needs to be addressed. We were counting on these sandwiches for this afternoon and had to scramble to find a replacement. Regardless of how much I enjoy their sandwiches, I will not return until this issue has been addressed.

Really great deli with friendly quick service and sandwiches full of flavor! I had the rubicon special which had turkey, pesto mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, and Gouda but I requested no cheese. The flavor was great. The pesto on the first bite is so delicious followed by the sweetness of the tomatoes. Very filling sandwich and it came with a mini cookie. The cookies!!! Omg! Best cookies I’ve had! They are chewy and buttery. Melt in your mouth. Perfect combination of salty and sweet. Best part, you get 3 free when you check in on Unilocal. So good!

Great place to stop by for a quick meal along the way to the airport! Nice, fast service with plenty of seating inside. I got the rubicon special(~$ 12 whole) with jalapeño cheese bread. I really liked the creamy sauce and red pepper flavor. The bread was delicious also. The serving size was HUGE I only ate half of it so I probably would just get a half size order next time. My boyfriend got the rich boy(~$ 12 whole) on Dutch crunch. The chicken was tender but I thought the sandwich could have been more flavorful. I love that each meal comes with a mini chocolate chip cookie. It is so soft, chewy and a perfect small dessert. Note if you sign up for their loyalty program through email you get a free drink with your meal.

Heading home from work last week, I was absolutely starving and craving something different from my usual routine. I parked in Mission Hills and wandered into the Rubicon Deli on a whim. The place was surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon, but the line moved quickly. I ordered a large«Rich Boy» sandwich(chicken, jack cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, tobasco mayo) and a small cup of tomato basil bisque. I also picked up a small bag of mini chocolate chip cookies as a freebie with my smartphone check-in.(Thanks social media!) The cashier handed me a number, and my food was brought out to the communal dining area in no time. The sandwich was massive — so massive that I had half wrapped up for later — but also very delicious. I’m a sucker for pretty much anything on Dutch Crunch bread, and the juicy chicken with spicy mayo complimented it perfectly. The chocolate chip cookies were also warm and gooey and absolutely perfect. The tomato basil bisque was less successful. It was watery and bland — needed some more tomato punch, perhaps more cream, and definitely more spice. Verdict: It’s all about the sandwiches at Rubicon Deli. Stick to those and you’ll be happy. Personally, I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu.

Ok ok now that I’ve tried this place several times and I think they have good sandwiches, a bit stingy on the meat for what you pay for but they offer well made sammies on your choice of fresh bread. I’ve ditched the dipper dapper and gone to the cold cuts, specifically the Italian Stallion. You won’t get as much meat as Nosh or Grapes & Hops, but they put a little more effort in the making of it, such as the the healthy aspect(or so they claim), organic produce, and well made plastic wrapper. Don’t forget your free cookie with every sammie, they’ll also split the large sandwich and individually wrap with a cookie. The workers also have a sense of humor and a younger more hip work force.

One of the best delis in SD and it’s right down the street from me off Washington and I5. Parking is super limited in this area, but well worth the fight. The best part of this deli is its bread, and use of pesto mayo and roasted red peppers(served cold). My favorites: Rubicon Special: Turkey, smoked Gouda, roasted red peppers, lettuce and pesto mayo. This is my favorite sandy because of the pesto mayo and red peppers. The peppers are awesome because they are served cold and add a unique flavor to the sandy. I almost always get the jalapeño Jack bread. So damn good. Oh and you only need a half sandy if you’re just buying for yourself, a whole is huge. Hogs Breath — Ham, Bacon, Avocado, Tomato, Onion, Lettuce, Chipotle Mayo, Honey Hot & Sweet Mustard. Beware, it’s a salty treat, but a good kind. Another great option! The Stallion — Salami, Applewood Smoked Ham, Provolone, Tomato, Onion, Pepperoncini, Spicy Chop-Chop, Lettuce, Mayo, Yellow Mustard. If you’re feeling Italian, this is a pretty good option. It’s not as amazing as Mona Lisa, but pretty damn good. Mini Cookies — You get one complimentary with the purchase of a whole sandy. They are bomb! *Parking sucks *$ 4 pints *Acai bowls are mediocre

Located on the busy India street, this sandwich place is at the heart of some good San Diegan food! We made the mistake of coming at around 7:15pm on a weekday… parking was terrible! Luckily we found a spot and trekked on over to Rubicon Deli, located near Lucha Libre. First thing you see as you enter is their amazing glass display of their assortments of bread. Truly a carb lovers dream! They had Dutch Crunch, Pesto, Wheat, Garlic Cheese, Jalapeño Jack, and Bleu Cheese. You can choose to order half a sandwich(which is ~6 inches of goodness) or a whole sandwich. We ordered the whole Dapper Dipper(slow roasted tri tip with an au jus dipping sauce) on Jalapeño Jack Bread and a whole T.A.B.L.E.(truffled egg salad with bacon) which both came out to be about $ 30… Two things went wrong after that.(1) They originally only gave me half a sandwich even though I paid for a whole. We had to go back and remind them about the other half.(2) I asked to get the T.A.B.L.E toasted with no tomatoes to-go. Well, when I got home, my sandwich was not toasted and there were tons of tomato. Such a shame because I loved my sandwich! But they really need to work on getting peoples’ orders right. We called them back to let them know. They kindly offered us a complimentary sandwich the next time we come back. Too bad it’s a ton of trouble getting parking! We’ll have to find time to go during non-peak hours next time. And two sandwiches for $ 30 is a bit much…
