My son has been wanting a board & his birthday is coming around the corner so I was in need of a local skateshop so I searched online & found Route 44. Was nervous about coming in but once we got there Danny welcomed us right away & in no time was helping my son pick out the parts for his board. He was very informative & so friendly. He put together the board & the pricing was very reasonable too! Thank you for making it so fun for my son… he loves his new board!

Set my 5 year old son up with skate lessons at our local YMCA in Encinitas and found out he has terrible gear. I located Route 44 based on outstanding Unilocal reviews and I am glad I did. Alex setup my son’s board and was extremely professional and the pricing hands down was better than other skate shops. For you other dads/​moms that might need some education on what your kids need in a skateboard, Alex (and I’m sure the other guys there) will set you up!

Route 44 is one of the few independently own core skateboard shops in San Diego and provides the best skateboarding products such as decks, shoes and apparel for prices that beat the mall stores. I am an avid skateboarder and Route 44 always has what I need no matter what. The shop has a friendly atmosphere and the employees are extremely helpful when it comes to getting set up whether it be you are a beginner or you are well experienced in skating. There is something for everyone at Route 44 thanks to their wide range or boards or various shapes and sizes (even a few longboards despite being a core street/​park skateboarding shop). I definitely would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a solid and friendly shop in San Diego!

A good no frills locally owned shop. Kind of disappointed that their El Cajon Blvd location closed, since it was like way closer to me and their new location is a bit hard to get to, but otherwise it was a good experience.
The guy didn’t try to up sell anything, just showed me the options and let me choose whatever, but also provided some insight on specific things to look out for.
I ended up getting a shop board with shop grip because you know gotta rep that local skate shop.
Smaller than I expected but they had everything you need to start skating.
Go here instead of zumiez or other mall shops, the pricing is similar and you’ll be supporting a local skate shop.
Will come back.
Also, be mindful and close the door behind you. The AC is running and electricity is expensive.

My son heard good things about this shop from friends in Chula. He has wanted to go for awhile now. Finally made it over today. Easy to find and parking… and a/​c:) Nice price on their ‘Route 44′ t-​shirts! Had variety of shoes and decks. Everything you need.

This place is legit!!! I haven’t been on a skateboard in 15 years. These guys set me up with a complete set that made me feel like I never stopped. Being a little older now and a lot heavier they even hooked me up with some upgraded bushings to make sure the bored was perfect for me. All mine and my sons skate needs will be going through this shop from now on. They had me excited to be back on a board!
