This review is long overdue I discovered Rollies about a year ago thanks to Unilocal.Ever since thus has been my go to barber as long as I am in san diego. Rollie is an artist at work with the clippers he gives a great fade consistently. Some of the best fades i’ve ever had. Its not the cheapest at 12 dollars a fade and the décor good use some updating. There has never been much of a wait even on the weekends maybe thirty mins tops which is surprising to me since he does such a great job. Writing a review is bitter sweet because he deserves more success and customers but I dont want it to impact me and how long the wait is. Selfish I know. He closes at 5 pm most days which can be a bit inconvenient. I recommend calling ahead if your cutting it close or arriving after 5. Enjoy great fades while you can Rollie has mentioned retiring a few times to me, so I dont know how much longer youll be lucky enough to stop by. Oh and Yueng the other barber here also does a great job too which makes things nice. Its always sad when three people are waiting for a specific barber while the other twiddles there thumbs because they suck. Not an issue.

Beware only accepts men and boys even though one woman there cut my hair weeks ago. The owner said it was against their contract to cut my hair and that one time was an exception. I feel bad for the woman because she got in trouble for my haircut. I didn’t know it was legal to discriminate by gender nor that I needed a penis to get a haircut at a barbershop. Ill stick to my gender inclusive barbershop… Floyds.

Old style barber shop with 4 chairs but only the Rollie was working this day. And yes, it really is a hole in the wall business but is very clean, including the restroom. His price list from 2008 is still posted and current: $ 11 for a regular haircut or $ 9 for seniors. Tips are voluntary without any pressure or signs. No shampoo, style or any of that sissy stuff-just a quick efficient cut. I was the only non-military person in the shop. Haircut took about 10 minutes after a 30 minute wait and I was RTG(ready to go). You will have to do some looking to find it. Located on the lower level beneath Play it Again Sports in the Trader Joes shopping center on Mira Mesa Blvd just east of I-15. There is no parking on Mira Mesa Blvd, so you will have to park next to California Coast Credit Union and walk down the stairs. Just look for the sign that says«Other shops & businesses on lower level» or something like that. Closed on Sundays & not recommended on Saturdays unless you have lots of time to wait.

I have been getting my haircut here and they always do a great job. They listen to their customers and they never fail to satisfy their customers. The barbers are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They can cut your hair from the most current, modern hairstyle to military cut and still, you will leave this place satisfied. I will definitely recommend this to others and will definitely come back

Rollie’s the man! Cash only hole-in-the wall barber shop but Uncle Rollie specializes in the craft just nicely. He is quick, clean and gives you exactly what you ask for. The awkward location and parking for this place gives it 4 out of 5 stars but you gotta check it out if you’re tired of the long waits and inconsistant cuts at other shops.

You know, I lived across the freeway from this place for about 6 months and only met Rollie once, lol. I always got my hair cut by the female that works there. While she can be pretty rough with that damn horse brush, at least she can cut. I don’t live that far from here, so every once in a while I pop in here. I forget their hours, but several times I’ve gone they’ve been closed. I think they are closed on one of the weekends, which is ridiculous. But, a good cut they can deliver. Also, I think someone mentioned it before, but you have to park up top by the tanning place/bank/play it again sports. Then you walk down the stairs to the shop. I was pretty confused the first time I went because I wasn’t expecting that, so I thought the place had closed. I just happened to walk down because I was curious where it was leading to. Then I saw it and felt pretty stupid, but hey… it is an awkward location.

This has been my barber for the last 4 or so years and there is nothing worse than getting a bad hair cut and trying to live your life. If your asian and looking for someone to fade you up and not butcher it, rollie’s your man. Prices are reasonable and the service is always friendly. Don’t go out into the world or have to hide that hideous cut behind a hat, rollie’s is as legit as they come Also it’s cash only, so bring cash!

Very nice, classic barber feel, no weird shampoo/conditioner/gel smells. Knowledgeable, relaxed barber who’s been at this for years, not some 6 month graduate of some BS cosmetology school. Prices are WELL within the bounds. I hate going to a shop and paying $ 12 and the only tool they need is clippers. When on Mira Mesa BLVD, you’ll pass the shop on your right, the driveway after it leads to parking. The parking happens to be ABOVE the shop, so walk down the stairs and you can get to the shop. Handicapped access is a bit farther, closer to the driveway, follow the sidewalk west(towards the freeway).

I have been going here for about a year, he does a mean medium reg. Clean and quick, great barber, especially if you are military. Closed sundays(yeah I know, kind of a bummer) Cash only. There’s an ATM up above at the little bank if you forget.

Love this place. Been going for about 5 years and its cheaper than any supercuts or the like. The waits are never that long and Rollie is a great guy. I wouldn’t get my hair cut anywhere else.

OK, so I read all the reviews and thought I would give this guy a shot. I am in the Navy so I like my hair short and it is hard to find a barber who can do a «great» fade. This guy is great. Good haircut; no frills barber shop. He used to be in the Navy as a «SH», the guys who cut hair on the ship, and he pretty much does exactly what you ask for. Friendly, Clean, and Cheap.(Military Discount is $ 10 Haircut). What more could you ask for?

Hey, when I get a haircut, I’ve pretty much got two considerations: 1. Am I gonna get a good cut or am I gonna get jacked up? 2. Is the place clean or am I gonna get ringworm from the guy in the chair before me? I dont need plasma screens or fancy salon stuff. That being said, Rollie’s is definitely a hole in the wall, but they’ve got it where it counts. I consistently get a good haircut and he keeps his shop clean even though it could probably use a remodeling. For you Marines down the road at Miramar, he gives a good fade. Not getting 5 stars though because the hours and days of business could use an adjustment.

Every Filipino calls older Filipinos«uncle» or «auntie», especially if they’re friends of your parents or served in the Navy with your dad. In this case, it’s both. Uncle Rollie does a great job with haircuts. I don’t personally get my haircut there, but my husband does every now and then. Uncle Rollie gives fast, clean haircuts. He even uses a flowbee type thing to prevent your hairclippings from itching you. And if you need an old school type beard shaving, he’ll break out the hot towel and single blade. My nephews used to go to him too, but it’s only a good place for well-behaved kids that don’t wiggle. You’ll find his store next to Jhig’s salon. Yeah, y’all know about Jhig’s!
