I love Dr. Sterner but this secretary/​receptionist is the reason I won’t return. She told me to ‘shut the hell up!’ Over the phone. Won’t go back unless she is gone.

Just left from his office about an hr ago and have nothing but good things to say. To the reviews that say the office is hard to find and parking is difficult maybe I went at a good time but they have a parking lot and tons of street parking. Also the lady I spoke to on the phone gave me great directions. Now to the office… It’s weird. Not sketchy or scary at all just kinda weird. They have a TV playing some natural food stuff and bumper stickers saying conspiracy theory stuff but it wasn’t bad at all. They just believe that stuff so it’s whatever. The doctor himself was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I went in because I have social anxiety and needed a note for an emotional animal. The Dr graduated from Harvard for his ba and ucla for his MD. He’s a smart guy into the natural stuff. I recommend him.

The lady in this photo is very disrespectfull and has poor morals i paid for my medical card twice here before 30 bucks and the third time she tried to charge me 60 and i called twice to try to get a hold of my doctor and she left me on Hold for 1 hr this lady is very mean nasty type of human being she has no care abought u unless u have the money most disrespectfull lady ive met in my life i miss the asian lady who use to work here she was way more professional

I recognized Dr’s name just as I finished another review in here. The women that work there are very helpful and efficient. As was the doctor. If you were expecting a police lineup you are going to be pleasantly surprised by this experience. Hard to find maybe, with the one way streets. Use your gps and don’t get lost!

I went to Dr. Sterner probably about 5 years ago to get my MM prescription. What I really liked about this doctor is that, in comparison to other medical marijuana doctors, he seemed to really care about my over all health. It wasn’t just in and out, and pay the $ 60. He asked about my diet, took my blood pressure, listened to my lungs and heart… maybe some of you giving him bad reviews don’t know that MM doctors are usually just there to get you in and out with your card, they don’t take the time to give you an actual check up. I see a lot of people complaining about the receptionist, I don’t remember her being any sort of a problem. If you want to get a quick turn around with a guaranteed MM card, go somewhere else, if MM really helps you and you want to see a doctor that gives a s*hit, go see Dr. Sterner. In fact I am going back this weekend to get my renewal. I wont go to anyone else, why? Because I have been to other MM doctors and they really don’t care at all.

Don’t waste your money and get ripped off! This place was horrible! They only write recs for insomnia. LOL! Which is actually illegal if that’s not the reason you need it, which I don’t. Ya I can’t sleep but that’s because I have back pain!!! I was on probation and this place wouldn’t write me a dr. s letter for my PO and court at first, then they said they would but have to charge me extra on top of the dr’s rec. (which is fine) but the letter didn’t say anything about my (medical) need for cannabis. And when I turned around in the waiting room and tried to get my money back they laughed and said no. Now thanks to this quack of an M.D. I was denied by my medicine by probation and the courts. Basically the secretary, the white lady not the Asian one, will rip you off and your dr’s rec. will be worthless. Don’t waste your money every other dr’s office I’ve talked to said this place is a joke

Creepy place. BS video on cholesterol running the whole time. Strange doc with an even stranger «wife». Bizarre lecture from the wife about nutrition and fat. She then declares she has only a high school degree. Total idiot. However, no hassle getting MM. Long wait and very creepy. Bring a friend. U will feel safer.

I am 62 years of age. My husband is 68. He has chronic back pain… I came here today just to get information about the use of marijuana to help in pain control. The moment I walked into the clinic with my husband and daughter, we were greeted with rudeness from the «OFFICE MANAGER ». I think she had probabally already had her hit of marijuana… I was ready to walk out then and there… Feeling forced to purchase this card and that card before we even spoke to the Dr. Both my husband and I requested that my daughter be allowed in with the visit… at 1^st she was not even going to allow me his caregiver to go in… She seems to be forcing her opinions on us… When we were finally called in to see the Dr. she literally was blocking the door way so my daughter could not come in and she was yelling at her nose to nose… I tried to intervene but to no avail… the Dr. just stood there never said a word, slapped a blood pressure cuff on my Husband and said treatment has begun… His way of telling us that the $ 60.00 visit could not be refunded. as thing escalated he just tucked his tail and ran like a scarred rabbit behind the curtain… I just said take your 60.00 bucks I dont care… and we left… This is no way to treat people of any kind… Especially new clients that are older and just wanted to have their daughter there to ask the appropriate questions to see if this would be an alternative for us… to help with my husbands pain… I was hoping for a positive experience here and to gain some knowledge, but all we got was rudeness, What happened to the phrase that The customer is always right… no matter what… This
Clinic is a Joke and so are the people who are running it…

I’ve been going to Dr. Sterner for almost a decade now for MM support. He was at the forefront of MM advocacy; supporting the local and National groups, hosting parties as his house, and all sorts of other pro-​bono work for the cause.
He is a kind and caring MD, his service is quick and his prices are good. I highly recommend him for all the services he offers.
I’m getting ready to call him right now to make an appointment, which is what reminded me to give him a shout-​out on Unilocal!

I have gone here, off and on for MM recommendation renewals and I have no complaints whatsoever. I did try to go to the CalMed420 up in No. Park on 30^th ST (I went to the Rosecrans location last year), but because the stupid receptionist failed to inform me of their «CASH ONLY» policy and expected me to walk 2 blocks up the street to use the atm at the 711, and walk back. No thanks. I have metal rods in my back, neck, left arm, 2 numb feet, poor balance, a bad right knee and oh yeah, chronic pain, too. I didn’t want to walk around that neighborhood any more than necessary and certainly not after getting money out of an atm. And, duh if I had the ability to easily walk around, how would I be considered *disabled* and be seeking a legal recommendation in the first place? Dr. Sterner, on the other hand, has a parking lot, in a secure building that is located in a business/​industrial section of town. I didn’t feel as though I was compromising my safety by going there. They also allow you the convenience of using a credit or atm card, and I received a letter allowing me to grow extra, which only cost $ 25 additional. For a grand total of $ 85. Last year, when I got my note from CalMed 420, they quoted me a fee of $ 175 extra for the same thing. Plus, every time I have gone to Dr. Sterner, I have learned something new. He keeps abreast of all of the newest innovations and theories about health, nutrition, aging and controlling pain – general well-​being. To me, it is always money and time well spent.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sterner for several years now. As a patient that SUFFERS from chronic severe pain, I tried cannabis to help me sleep. Well, guess what it works! Unfortunately, I have to take large amounts of opiates (oxycontin, morphine etc.) prescribed by a pain management Dr. I am grateful for Dr. Sterner and his willingness to risk his own reputation and license to help people that are suffering.
I first saw him as he defended himself in the court for a trumped up charge that was on the local TV news. I did a little checking on him and discovered he is a Harvard graduate and also a graduate of UCLA (BOTH outstanding universities). Dr. Sterner may not «look» like your family practice doctor but let me assure you he is an EXCELLENT physician! He listens, and he cares. I am not an advocate for the recreational use of cannabis (I know this may surprise you) but I know it can and does help various illnesses. He is well read on current research and will brief you on cannabis’ role in helping your situation. Best of luck in finding something to improve your quality of life.

I received a call Sunday night from the Dr. Assistant, she left a voice mail and I called Monday am. The DR and the assistant were both nice and she informed me the DR was on vacation and in the hospital as well. The problem here is clearly the front desk staff. My recommendation was called in and I was given a call Monday afternoon, they said I could come get it on Tuesday… and to call before I left. I told the front desk girl, can I just let you know right now I will be there at 9am to pick it up, I needed it last Thursday… she said I will leave a note for the morning girl. Now I just assumed it would be ready, stupid me, huh? Shortly after 11am it was ready…5 days after I walked in the office. NOW… I would not have been upset if the front desk had been upfront with me… let me know the doc’s on vacation… it could take a few days… or 5… I mean c’mon…Dr. Sterner the evening front desk girl needs to be fired!

Location was very easy to see and find. The receptionist was very professional, Dr. Sterner is a VERY intelligent man. He can answer any questions you have about MM. I heard he was a good doctor but seeing his Harvard and UCLA degrees framed on the wall, and then talking with him about MM assured me he knows his stuff. 5 stars!

I just wanted to say that thank you to Dr. Sterner and his amazing staff for filling my much needed prescription in a professional and timely manner! Much thanks to Ann for her help and quick response to my needs. I would recommend anyone to Dr. Sterner who needs or wants to improve the quality of their life through good health and positive healing.

I have been going to see Dr Sterner for a few different issues for over two years now. My original issues were to get help with weight loss and some anti aging advice/​supplements etc.
Dr Sterner is probably considered a bit of an ‘outlier’ by some in the mainstream medical community, but let’s face it, the mainstream medical community accepts change at glacial pace (it was only a few years ago they proclaimed that ‘a calorie is a calorie’; that it didn’t matter what you ate, and that supplements did nothing but produce expensive urine.
That said Dr Sterner is actually fairly prudent and conservative in practice, requests comprehensive bloodwork & exam before treating some conditions, and does due diligence and won’t just dispense something because you want it. You may not get this impression by seeing some of his advertising, but after a long period as a patient of his, I can assure you he is not some marginal «Dr Feelgood», etc, but a diligent and responsible physician.
I appreciate that he keeps up on recent medical and nutritional research findings, and I never fail to learn something new when I see him. He hasn’t just rested on the laurels of his ivy league medical training, but kept open to new information as it develops, and that is daunting for any busy medical practitioner.
He is an unusual doctor and person, and although his unique practice and approach may not be for everyone (ie if you are a super traditional unquestioning type of person, and /​or not open to learning about health, nutrition and so on, and not willing to make some lifestyle changes — probably not a great fit– also he does not take insurance of any kind either), BUT if you are open, and have a stubborn issue you need help with, whether weight, overall health, or other issues I won’t go into here, give him a try.
