Red’s is the downstairs portion of The Wood, formerly known as Beachwood. To me, Red’s is the complete opposite of the Wood. The bartenders are always friendly and the service, when they bring you the food and drinks you ordered, is up to standard. Yes, you do have to order your drinks AND food at the bar, but that’s a minuscule detail that shouldn’t matter. The waiters still come to your table to serve you your food once it’s ready, so no big deal. The food’s typical bar food, equipped with the standard platter of nachos, fries, burgers, salads, etc. There’s nothing really special at all about the menu or the food, other than the nachos with added guac and chicken are pretty damn good when you haven’t eaten all day and are starving for refined carbs. No, Aaron Roger’s brother never owned this bar, but his brother did work here for a little while as a bar back and then a bartender, which is why the whole place(including The Wood) is known as a Packer bar. Three stars for having a cool atmosphere and better people working this portion of the building.

This place used to be so much fun. It has gone down hill. Games are broken. Bathrooms discussing, bouncers are extremely rude etc. I hope they can turn things around. I would hate to see this place close.

I think this is a fun place. Probably more so if you’re a Packers fan as it’s a Green Bay Packer bar. I’ve heard it’s owned by Aaron Rodgers brother, or was, but not sure if that’s true anymore. Anyways, don’t come here if you want a experience where you will get catered on. The few times we’ve been in, you go to the bar for your drinks even if you have a table and you also order food at the bar. Not sure if they never have servers or if that’s just on Sundays but it’s more of a real«bar» feel in that sense. It’s quite small, more of a dive bar feel but on game days it’s very festive and fun. The staff from the door guy to the bartenders have always been friendly and the prices are very reasonable being a block from the ocean. I’ve also been upstairs to The Wood and have had a great experience there as well.

Best country bar in Pacific Beach! Nice warm country ambiance with good people and good music right on the beach almost. Nice bar because it doesn’t get insanely packed like all the rest of PB and no PB douchebags come here. Also, check out Beachwood above Reds.

This place says they are closed at 2. Showed up at 105am and they wouldn’t let us in. I was completely sober and witnessed several other groups get denied after me. I think the employees here are just lazy and want to close up early. If a business isn’t going to let people in an hour before they close they should be forced to change their hours. By the way, there was about 20 people inside when they stopped letting people in

As mentioned in several reviews, the bouncers and staff absolutely ruin this bar. One bouncer was particularly rude to me and several of my friends, seeming to be on a power trip. Several of my friends, both male and female, were kicked out or not let in for«being too drunk» when in reality most were almost completely sober. There are much friendlier and more entertaining bars in PB, so I would not recommend trying this one out. I’ll never be going back The only positive to this place are the reasonable drink prices and decent ambience.

Awful. Horrible experience. Instead of telling me to get rid of my drink or go back inside, the pathetic bouncer on the back patio decided to cuss me out and scream«Get the f*** back inside! How many fu**ing times do I have to tell you.» I asked him to speak to the GM because it’s completely unacceptable to treat customers in this manner. He continued to talk down to me and then kicked me out instead of getting the manager. Mind you, I had ONE drink… And am a female. I really wish I could have gotten his name but he refused to give me that info. I have the most disgusted opinion of this trashy place because of the awful guys they hire. Train and educate your staff on more appropriate ways to oversee this bar. Unacceptable. Now I understand there are no drinks allowed on the back porch. Maybe if there were more than a piece of computer paper ripped in half and barely taped to the window indicating the no drink rule, I would have easily abided. And he easily could have directed me back in the bar in a respectful manner, but this egotistical person on a power trip wants to ridicule a customer. Safe to say I cannot stand this place and will never return.

I’ve tried being really nice about this but I’m fed up with these rude staff and bouncers at reds. I say avoid this place its disheartening that a paying customer plays the jukebox and the bouncers don’t like the song so they skip over it and waste your money. I played the same song five times last night and they skipped it and it’s quite frankly rude and unprofessional

Update: After posting this review, Eddie from Reds etc, swiftly refunded my stolen money. I’m glad to know that when this business makes errors to their first time customers, they follow up and fix them. Maybe one day I just might try them out again. Fraudulent Tip Charge! Last night, I was a first time patron at the bar Reds. A bar tender/server Amanda(dressed in overall shorts and batman t shirt) served me twice, once on a $ 29.00 charge and another time $ 7.00. I tipped $ 2.00 amounting on the first charge as $ 31.00 and $ 1.00 on the next amounting to $ 8.00. Upon looking at my charges today in my account, I noticed that the total amount was changed to $ 34.80 and the other to $ 8.40. This would have been very easy to do since the pen that she gave me to use was running out of ink and my writing was very faint. Not only is this fraudulent, but it also reflects poorly upon Reds establishment and staff. I strongly recommend an immediate review and firing of Amanda. I know I was probably not the only person she has and will continue to do this to.

Fun place in PB for country music. Had a good time would give 5 stars if the music that was played was always danceable. Some songs were not good. But overall good experience.

This is one of PB’s most underrated places. Very charming, great games, and if you’re a Packers fan, you need to watch your team here.

Went here last night for an after party after a wedding. The bouncers were unbelievably rude to all of us, despite us telling them that our friend just got married. They kicked several of my friends off stools just to be jerks, claiming that the bar was too crowded for us to be sitting but meanwhile it was fairly empty. Take your business somewhere else. There are plenty of good bars in the area.

Recently miss placed my ID. I live in pacific beach but I’m from Kentucky. ID is in the mail, so I went out with my passport. For the record I’m 24. A bouncer at reds was out a steroid power trip and decided to take it. Because you know people party with fake passports all of the time. Even though I could recite every country I’ve been to and when the past seven years. I even have my own initials tattooed on my wrist. They gave me a receipt and told me to call the police. An hour later I get my passport back from the police. Fuck. This. Place.

I’ve been here a few times with some girlfriends each time the staff seems to get a little more rude. A couple examples; apparently standing anywhere around the door calls for being threatened to being thrown out. Also, I fell in the bathroom resulting in a pretty good size bruise on my knee because the women’s bathroom was drenched in drinks. Limes and cups everywhere. I told the guy working the doors to the restroom that I had fallen and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt and he blew me off. Well, given he probably deals with many intoxicated guests I could see why he would do so but I wasn’t intoxicated and I guess that’s why this irked me so. I guess what I’m saying is avoid the staff and you’ll be okay but I will not be going back to this place. The wood upstairs is much better.
