I’ve been having Amy cut and color my hair since Pixie opened in 2005. Back then I had just moved to South Park from Chicago and it was the first ever South Park Walkabout (I think that was the first) and Pixie wasn’t open but had their doors open for the walkabout. I was carrying the color card my Chicago stylist had sent me off with to find someone to mix my exact color. Amy didn’t flinch at that weirdness of me showing up with a little card with a code on it. We’ve been doing business ever since. She’s taken me through swoop bangs to thick straight bangs to donating all my hair to locks of love and everything in between. She is realistic and will tell you what’s possible (and usually it’s not possible to look exactly some picture in a magazine, ladies). Amy is very accommodating and responsive to appointment requests. But let’s be realistic there, too, it’s not always easy to get your perfect time and day with just 2 days notice. Plan ahead and book ahead! And even 10 years on, I think the prices have increased twice and they are STILL way cheaper than what this cost me in Chicago 10 years ago!

Love this place! I’ve been going to Marcie for about 5 years now and I have never had a bad experience. She always seems to do my hair exactly the way I pictured it! As well, the price point is pretty reasonable (considering how much some other salons charge) and she always is prompt on getting back to me. I drive all the way down here from Encinitas every time to get my hair done — but it’s worth it :)

I’ve been in to see Kimberly three times now and couldn’t be happier with her work! She is friendly, easy to get an appointment with and she really listens to what I want. Sometimes I hate the forced conversations that seem to be necessary during a cut but talking with Kimberly is just really easy and natural. As a former super-​short-​pixie wearing hair kinda gal, she’s talked me through growing it out a bit, avoid a boring mom-​bob and I totally trust my hair with her. Happy to have found you, Kimberly!

A friend of mine recommended Hailey to me, so I gave her a call. Several times. It took about a week to actually get in touch with her. She apologized and said she was out of town, so I figured it was a one-​off event. I had a cut with her which was fine — she was personable, the cut was decent although I wasn’t too fond of the bangs, but my bangs can be tricky so whatevs, no biggie.
The second time I tried to book with her I called on a Friday. She called me back on Wed. I’m sorry, but it’s not acceptable to call back almost a WEEK after the initial call. I have a limited time frame within which I need a cut before I travel for a month. I tried another person from the salon — Marcie — on Wed. She still hasn’t gotten back to me either. Granted, it’s only been two days, but I’d rather be able to call up a place and get something on the books right then instead of dealing with all the waiting to hear back and leaving messages back and forth. Once I decided to officially give up on this place I called another salon and IMMEDIATELY got an appointment with no fuss. I don’t know why the stylists at Pixie insist on managing their own appointment books if they’re not going to keep up with actually scheduling folks.

Have had my hair cared for by Jenny since she was the new stylist in another Salon 1998 ish. She and a couple of the other women started this salon together and now myself, my mother and both my daughters get their hair done here. I know I can come in for my appt. and walk out beaming with happiness for my cut and style. Jenny has a great understanding of face shapes and hair types and when given free reign never ceases to amaze me. Place is clean and friendly and booking in advance is the best bet. Have recommended to friends and family for years.

Trying a new hair salon let alone a new hairdresser is always risky… but I decided to try out Marcie because of a recommendation from my previous hairdresser, and now I am absolutely hooked! The salon and staff were both amazing and I was extremely pleased with the service.
I walked in and Marcie introduced herself and was extremely friendly. When I sat down, she offered me tea or water… now come on, in how many hair salons do you get that kind of service?! She must have known caffeine is the way to my heart.
I went in for a pretty drastic haircut because I was donating it to locks of love, and I wasn’t sure of the style I wanted. I told her kinda sorta what I was looking for and she hit it right on the nail. She was very personable, easy to get along with, and a fun person to hang out with!

Kimberly took great care of me by squeezing me in for a very last minute same day appointment. Although I only had a semi-​idea of what I wanted to do she guided me with great insights and created an amazing finished product. Kimberly and the rest of the salon exceeded my expectations! I loved the emphasis on small details, and the personalized french press they offer each client.

Always professional always excellent-​no other place to go for cut, color, facials and friends. Highly recommended!

Michelle has been cutting my hair since I was a little girl and has perfected it everytime! All of the staff are beyond friendly and the store lay out is too cute! This salon is a MUST!

Marcie did an excellent job with my hair cut! It’s always a bit nerve-​racking finding a new stylist in a new city, and I’m so glad I was recommended to Pixie Salon. Marcie is super friendly. She listened to exactly what I wanted done to my hair and absolutely nailed it. I couldn’t have asked for a better cut.

Great place but not going back because my stylist, Paula now owns another salon & I go there now.

I have to start by saying that I haven’t received any services from Pixie Salon. But, it’s not for lack of trying to get in. I called yesterday afternoon to make an appointment with Jenny. The receptionist informed me that Jenny likes to make her own appointments and that she would give her a message. That was Wednesday. This morning, Thursday, I looked at the website that I said I could contact her via email. So, I sent an email. No reply. It is now almost 10pm on Thursday night.
I wanted to try a new salon in the neighborhood. Since it’s only four blocks away from my house, I thought I would give it a try. You would think that an owner of a salon would return a call or if she wasn’t taking new clients, maybe recommend another stylist or something.
I guess I can take a hint. I guess they have enough business and don’t need mine.
I’m very disappointed with my little neighborhood establishment.

Marcie is an amazing stylist and colorist! I arrived with a picture in hand and questions regarding color. Marcie was very confident in her craft as she advised me of the best way to go with color. My cut was exactly what we discussed and I am very pleased to have found her. This was my first visit to Pixie Salon and it is very clean, welcoming and charming. Everyone was very professional with limited and appropriate conversation between the staff. If you are considering changing salons, call Pixie Salon and make an appointment with Marcie!

I went to Pixie Salon for the first time and I am so pleased with the results! Marcie did my hair and did exactly what I wanted! The salon is a warm friendly environment in one of the cutest neighborhoods. I definitely recommend!!!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful Monique is, she is experienced, knowledgeable, and a really sweet person ! I first starting getting facials around the time of my wedding and she made sure my skin was beautiful for all those memorable pictures. After my wedding I continued to see Monique for some help with problematic skin after discontinuing birth control pills and Retin A. She suggested 302 skincare as a way to naturally balance my skin in addition to other natural supplements. Five years later I still use 302 skincare and see Monique whenever I can squeeze in a facial which is usually only once a year but I would never go anywhere else.

I’ve had makeup services by Marcie, hair by Michelle & waxing/​facial services from Monique. High-​quality, lasting results. On my wedding day, I coordinated with Michelle & Marcie, and it was seamless, stress-​free and fun. I see Monique for my eyebrows and highly recommend. She has a pleasant little room in the back of the salon that always smells good and I always leave feeling relaxed and calm. Lovely place to go and treat yourself!

How can I even begin to thank Michele for being so awesomely talented? She is damn good at what she does! I live in Boston, but get my hair cut from her a couple times per year when visiting San Diego. I have curly hair and she is the only one I trust and the only person that has ever done a good job. This past weekend, I got married, and she did both my hair and my matron of honor’s hair (picture is with succulent crown). It looked perfect — even better than I could have imagined! Everyone commented on how nice my hair looked, and how it was very «me.» Michele does a great job of matching your personality to a hairstyle that will match perfectly. My hair stayed in all day, and was even perfectly in place after a couple hours of dancing, including break dancing! I do not know how she does it, but it is like pure magic. That woman is incredible. Thank you SO much Michele!!!

After moving from New Orleans (and away from a stylist I adored), I was nervous about finding a new stylist. Taking advice from my New Orleans stylist, I looked for SD girls whose hair color I liked and asked them who they saw for color. I only asked twice– and both times I got the same answer, «Amy at Pixie Salon.»
I made an appointment with Amy and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. I’ve used Pixie for makeup services: Marcy is AMAZING and worked her skills to make my sister and I look flawless for my engagement party. I’ve also gotten a facial from Monique– the woman is a zen master who whipped my skin into perfect shape!
In addition to being incredibly talented, the girls all have excellent taste. On more than one occasion I’ve left with perfume or a life-​changing reed diffuser.
Overall: Love those Pixie Girls.

Pixie Salon is the best!!! I have been going here for about eight years. Before this, I could never find a stylist that actually gave me some style.
Pixie Salon is located in South Park in a small set of buildings. The neighborhood is safe and there is a nice little café next door if you need a snack before your haircut. But they always have cookies, coffee and tea in the salon. Depending on the time of day, you may need to give yourself five minutes to find street parking, but there is usually parking in front and it is always at no cost.
Amy R. is my stylist. She is so talented and is a great listener. She can make anything happen and she always has your best interests in mind. For instance, she steered me away from a Brazilian blowout. I have never been dissatisfied with her talents. She does great highlights. She is very versatile. She can go from trendy to conservative. I am able to text Amy to get appointments and she usually has the day and time that I need.
I know that Amy and the other stylists stay up to date by attending styling conferences on a regular basis. Everyone that works there is very friendly.
The shop has artistic décor that is always changing. It makes your whole experience entertaining. Although, I do miss the teal chaise lounge. They also give local artists space to hang their work. They also host a local artist who sells jewelry. There is even a cute little patio out back.
They don’t push their hair products, but they have everything you need, if you want to buy it.
Overall, I highly recommend Pixie Salon and especially, Amy R!

Michelle is awesome! And such an amazingly sweet person to top it off — the perfect combo in a stylist :-)
Warning: she is so awesome, that she can be difficult to get an appointment in short order. Plan ahead and you will be thankful.
A friend of mine (whose hair always garners attention for its sleek and sexy cut) recommended Michelle, and though I felt rather apprehensive due to the whole «you can’t cheat on your hairstylist» gig in these parts, I gave her a shot.
The world was in a happy place that day: I finally had an idea of what I wanted, and was able to express this in a fashion that a stylist could understand and create on my own head and a new stylist to give me that extra zing in a new cut. Michelle did exactly what I was hoping for, and it was an enjoyable time during it — perfect! I believe 2 of her sisters also work at Pixie and have their own loyal following.
Cute salon in South Park; park on the street a block away and it’s easy breezy. The atmosphere of everyone who works there is casual, comfortable and lovable. They carry Bumble and Bumble products at reasonable prices.
I am continually getting compliments on my new cut — thank you, Michelle!
Michelle (and Pixie) are definitely on the top list to call for my regular cut and colour.
