I’ve known Peter and his team since I was fist injured back in 2012. They all have gone out of their way for me on multiple occasions and won’t settle with a poorly fitted prosthetic. If you’re looking for a team that actually cares, this is the place.

Who is Peter Harsch? That name came up continuously as I sought out the services of a prosthesist who could design, construct and maintain a prosthetic that would meet and maintain the demands placed upon prosthetic devices of a Combat Veteran and Amputee whose mission in life is to counsel fellow combat vets who suffer from PTSD and TBI. Moreover, I also lead an Adaptive Yoga class for those who suffer from physical and emotional challenges such as; amputations, paraplegia, quadriplegia, Spinal Bifida, as well as PTSD and TBI. Peter Harsch and I initially became acquainted after he left his position as Head of Prosthetics at The U. S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, because I was seeking the foremost prosthesist in San Diego County to design and maintain a series of prosthetic devices that I envisioned I would be needing, in order to fulfill the obligations of my mission in life. During that period in my life, I was contemplating an amputation of my chronically infected and painful leg(which I sustained as a result of shrapnel while serving as a combat Marine in Vietnam) after enduring four decades of omnipresent chronic pain and a bone infection in the tibia and fibula. Peter and his newly formed organization, Peter Harsch Prosthetics were recommended to me by Nico Marcolongo, Director of the Operations Rebound Division of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, as an expert in the field of prosthetics. Notwithstanding, I wanted to do my due diligence, because the empirical data I accumulated established the need for a premier prosthesist. Because, the prosthesist amputee relationship is as important to the amputee, as spouses, families and comrades at arms! To that end, I interviewed several generations of combat veterans, including those who served in Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan regarding their experiences with the leading prosthetic providers throughout San Diego and the country. Accolades for one man repeatedly continued to surface. That Man’s name was«Peter Harsch » ! Peter and I got along well, because he is one of those rare people who can relate to animate, as wells inanimate beings. After a long and tumultuous battle with the powers that be at the Veterans Administration during which I was initial told that I could not utilize Peter as my prosthesist; he was approved. My persistence was rewarded and the decision to use Peter has been reinforced in a myriad of ways on a daily basis. I was fortunate to have Peter as a part of the surgical team assembled to perform the surgeries to;(1) remove my left lower extremity,(2) eliminate the chronic osteomyillitis from which I had been suffering for over four decades,(3) cut and shape the tibia and fibula, and(4) Peter applied the cast to prepare the remaining nub for a prosthesis ensuring a successful transition from disability to a multi-functioning amputee. Who is Peter Harsch? Quite simply, the quintessential prosthesist in the country.

I’ve known Peter for over 10 years. He goes above and beyond his duties as a prosthetist. After hours, weekends, anytime — he’s always available to help with challenges. It also helps that he’s an amazing endurance athlete and understands what active amputees needs are. I’m so happy that he has his own facility to keep on doing what he’s best at.

Peter Harsch is the man, the myth, the legend. Not even kidding. I’ve known Peter for over 3 years. He’s bent over backwards to help myself and other service members. I’ve had quite a few prosthetics made and they have all been excellent in every aspect. Peter is very methodical and is all about the patient being 100% satisfied. Will continue to be a patient of his for many years to come.
