This place is AMAZING, and the people who run it are even more amazing! If you are looking for a place that your pet is going to be loved, played with, and treated like a kid at recess, you’ve found it. Barb and Byron have so much love and compassion for dogs, and every other animal too. I’ve spent a lot of time there observing and there’s no where a pet would be happier. Their schedule may be full, but that’s because they are high in demand. Even waiting for a spot would be worth it!

I absolutely love this place, and my dog does too. When I switched jobs and had a longer commute, I wanted my rescue puppy to have a fun and safe place to socialize and get her exercise. Peanuts offered that for the best value in town.
I like that this is a smaller family-​run pet care business, so each dog gets plenty of supervision. At this point, my dog pulls me through the gates as soon as we pull up, and she has made friends with both the tiny and enormous dogs that go there. I very highly recommend this place!

I have attempted on two different occasions to set up grooming for my dogs. They hate the car so I thought how great it would be if I could just walk them over! Barb did respond to my requests but apparently didn’t think it was worth her time. She never called/​emailed me back to actually give me a time to have them groomed. I understand people get busy but I tried twice in a three month span and couldn’t get a grooming appt. Maybe they shouldn’t advertise what they don’t do

We found peanuts when we went to a large pet adoption faire at viejas casino. We met the owners Barb & Byron and instantly could tell that they had great rapport with animals. So we set up a time to come and look at their establishment. We were amazed, the prices are low, lower than ive seen, and the take such great care of barney. He seems to enjoy going there. When we pick him up each day he dozes on the way home. They tire him out.
If you are looking for a place to have your dog taken care of, like one of the family. Take him/​her to peanuts, you wont be disapointed, and either will your dog.

My family and I were looking to board our dog for the first time. We looked into several places, but chose Peanut’s because of its close proximity to my home (it’s pretty centrally located, which is awesome), I like to support small businesses, and I like that my dog Jake would be cared for by professionals in a comfortable home environment. There are no «packages», you are obligated to choose from and pay extra for, which at some places determines how much play the dog gets per day (what the hell does the dog get to do the rest of the time, and where?), as well as whether or not you get web cam access. At Peanut’s, the web cam is always part of the deal.
I called to schedule an appointment a few days before my trip and was easily accommodated. Byron, the owner, was very patient and thorough in addressing our questions and concerns, along with explaining the general process of boarding, daily schedules for the dogs, etc. The initial appointment went really well, they tested Jake’s temperament by bringing out a small dog, and then a large dog. Byron is an expert in dog behavior and was very kind with Jake. It’s clear that he loves his work. He’s very laid back and once my family and I left the appointment, we knew we had found a good place for Jake.
The dogs can sleep wherever they want (Jake chose the bed!) which is great. The yard is well maintained, and everything very well thought out. Their doggy pool is free of chemicals, instead they use a filter. Their yard has only safe plants in it, and they use all natural grooming products. There is always additional staff supervising the dogs as they play. The list could be significantly longer, but much of that info is on their website anyway.
While we were away, Byron and his wife sent us updates and pictures regularly. They responded to our emails in a timely manner. It made us smile to see the pictures of Jake playing or napping, and it really kept us at ease. We knew our baby was in good hands.
We asked them if they could give Jake a bath before we picked him up (we knew he’d be a mess after a five night stay!). They did so, and when we arrived he was clean, dry, very soft and shiny, and smelled of Marigold (which repels fleas). He was so excited to see us, he looked happy and healthy. Byron let us know that Jake would be exhausted from days of play and stimulation, and would likely sleep a lot for the next couple of days (which he is currently doing). My family and I are so pleased, our experience really couldn’t have gone any better. Jake was happy and comfortable, had fun and got tons of exercise.
We won’t be boarding him anywhere else from now on. The pricing is reasonable, well worth it. I highly recommend Peanut’s Pet Services!

I couldn’t be more happier with the service Peanuts Pets provides. I have brought my pup there since she was 10 weeks old and it was the best thing for her. She’s made so many friends and was able to socialize right away. They take such great care of her when I am at work and ate flexible when things come up. You can tell they love each one of their pets and take pride in what they do. I would recommend to any one that this is the most personalized day care around!

We have been taking our dog to Peanuts Pets since she was a puppy, about 3 years. They are the best! Byron and Barb are professional and they truly love dogs. Their personal touch is really what sets them apart. They have a relationship with each dog and owner and have Easter and Halloween parties for our dogs. We take our dog 3 times a week for daycare and have boarded her with them about 10 times. We trust them completely!

Excellent option for your dog!
This is a professional dog daycare, boarding and grooming facility located in central San Diego. The best part is that it is run out of their home (still very professional) so there is less overhead, which means they cost significantly less than most other dog daycare facilities. Our dog goes there on a regular basis for daycare. We also use them for boarding when we go out of town and grooming when he needs to get clean. We live nearby so it is very convenient for us, but for those not as close they offer pick up and drop off. If we move further away we will utilize that option for sure. I believe they will provide a dog walking service as needed.
We have been going to Peanut’s Pets for a couple years now and will continue to do so. Great people and great service. We also pick up our dog’s dog food from their and it is a few bucks cheaper than at the store. One stop shop for everything!
Lastly, the place is pretty popular for both daycare or grooming so I recommend contacting them in advance to reserve a spot.

After reading the seven 5-​star reviews on Unilocal I didn’t think twice about calling to check this place out. I was told tours are given on the weekend and so I set up a time for the following weekend for my dog and I to check the place out. Overall the visit went well, and I was excited to have found an inexpensive place nearby to keep my dog during the day while I am at work. The only negative at this point was it did smell a little like urine in the back yard. I was told they would email some paperwork to me later that day to fill out and they would also let me know which day I can bring him by for day care first. They can only have 12 dogs at the same time, and so keep schedules to determine when they have space available. Maybe this was my hint the place wasnt for me — Going forward it would be easier to not have to worry if space is available for my dog or not.
After a few days, I emailed asking about the paperwork, and was sent the paperwork to fill out. I returned the paperwork asking when I could bring by dog for the day and was told that they would let me know later in the week.
I never heard back from them.
I understand people get busy, or maybe they do not have space available. But I think this communication is important to keep the positive reviews. How can you trust a place with your dog if you can’t trust them to call/​email you back?

I took my dog Larry to Peanut’s Pet Service soon after I adopted him from a shelter. He was a little skiddish with people and dogs when I first got him. Since I picked him up form Peanut’s, he’s been much quicker to warm up to both people and dogs. They were great with him and I would trust Peanut’s to look after Larry anytime!

How do I possibly capture how much we LOVE Byron and Barb! When my husband and I moved here in late summer with our two kids (Kids of the 4 legged kind… a yellow lab and golden retriever), we went about doing all the things you typically do in a new city… Find a place to live — check! Find a dog park — check!, Find a vet — check! It wasn’t until we realized that it was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and we were leaving for a 12 day trip home to visit our parents at Christmas and we had no idea where the «kids» were going to stay. Needless to say, I went in to full on panic! How could I let that slip? What was I thinking, leave them in the house with a buck of food and water, pile of treats on the floor and the radio and just hope for the best? I mean it was a melt down of epic proportions. My husband and I immediately went to work doing research (thanks Unilocal!) and there in the blur of dog boarding listings was Peanut’s. What can I say the dog Gods were smiling on us!
We called, we meet, and we feel in love! Byron and Barb are beyond amazing and the dogs can’t stop talking about their dogcation at Peanut’s! In the 12 days they were there, they got groomed (Barb is a groomer and amazing!), went to the dog park and snow park, played not stop with all their new dog friends, and even had a home cooked gourmet doggy Christmas Dinner (Thanks Barb for setting the bar high on that one, I better get a doggy cookbook stat!). They have been home for only a few hours and can’t wait to go back! What we loved the most was that we knew that they were not just at a boarding place, but at a friends home. It’s a great family vibe and the dogs stay in the house in their own space and are loved just like they were with us. We could call anytime and check in and we even got text pics of them from Byron — so cool! They are also great about flexible pickup and drop off and offered a free night for us being new and a military discount. We already scheduled their next dogcation in a few weeks!
Thanks Barb and Byron, you have taken the stress out of leaving our babies and we can’t tell you how awesome that is!

As a nurse I have crazy long/​weird hours but have always wanted to have a dog. I started researching doggie daycare when my pup was about 6 months old and was recommended to Peanuts by another nurse at my hospital. I have now been bringing Charlie there for 6 months and absolutely LOVE it. They were the ONLY daycare in the area that could accommodate my schedule. When I work during the day, they open early (630am) so I could drop him off on the way to work. When I work nights, I drop him off after work in the morning and they actually bring him home for me, dropping him off at my apartment around 6pm.
There are other daycare places closer to my apartment (Its about 15mins out of the way, especially when I have to go home, get the dog, and drive back to drop him off) But I cant imagine bringing him anywhere else. Charlie starts to go nuts in the car as soon as we get into the neighborhood! Byron and Barbara have been fantastic, they love every dog as if he/​she was one of their own. They are also super knowledgeable about training/​grooming and doggie behaviors, always available for questions or recommendations as needed. Charlie comes home, exhausted after a full day of playing with his pals. Oh and to add to the excellence, its much much more affordable than the other daycares around. They cant be beat, go see for yourself and you and your pup will be hooked!

I’m not sure I can capture the longing in my heart for Peanuts that I have now that my family (meaning my husband and I and our two pups) has moved to the east coast. Our two dogs, Stella and Bodhi, went to day care at Peanuts every Tues and Thurs for over a year and spent countless weekends there too. They’re complete excitement to arrive at Peanuts each time was only matched by Byron and Barb’s excitement to get to spend some more time with them. I told Byron and Barb that leaving Peanuts was like tearing our dogs away from family.
Like another reviewer said, it’s more than boarding or day care. Pups at Peanuts are treated to doggie field trips while parents slave away at work. There are doggie birthday parties some days, there’s a little bone shaped pool for cooling off. Then they all get to pile inside in case it’s just too hot out or maybe they want some indoor down time.
And the staff is super helpful. They’d cut the dogs nails for us, offer to groom them, they even went to the pet store for us once because we forgot to bring food for a weekend boarding and they wanted to be sure they gave our dogs the same food they usually get rather than what they already had on hand.
And the one huge thing that really captures the special bond they create with the dogs can be exemplified in our dogs last day at Peanuts. All the humans were really sad knowing what was coming. When my husband arrived to drop them off, Byron said to load them into his car, rather than put them out back. He took them out for a special trip to the dog park followed by hot dogs from Wienerschnitzel. The afternoon was filled with him rolling around on the ground with them smothering them in love and adoration, letting them know how much they’d be missed.
We love, Love, LOVE Peanuts. Peanuts should have their own galaxy of Unilocal stars they are so wonderful.

Live close by and love Byron and Barb are very lovable, responsible folks who work to make sure your pet is very comfortable when you can not be around.
We have a large 120 pound American Bull Dog who can get too rowdy and Byron knew just how to keep him under control.
We can travel without worrying. Highly recommend.

We’ve been taking our pup Andy here for a little over a year now and he loves Peanuts Pets! The word «Peanut» is like the other four letter word that makes dogs flip their lids «walk». Byron and Barb are awesome and they def go out of their way to help out. We get everything ‘Andy’ related from Peanuts, his food, flea medication, training tips and they even do grooming there! In the summer Andy gets to go on field trips to the beach while I’m stuck at work, lucky jerk. Peanuts is almost always available for daycare and even for a last minute sleepover if we decide to go out of town. To top it off they’re eco-​friendly!
