I’ve searched for my «go to» Mexican place in San Diego. I found it. This place is great. Friendly service, delicious food(TJTACOS here!), clean place, inexpensive. That’s all you can ask for. Definitely have gained my business and I am a frequent customer. It is the best place for Mexican food without going to chula or national city.

My best friend and I discovered this hole in the wall not too long ago. They had a unique and interesting menu there. I want to try the nopales next time. They also have a mole burrito, which I thought was different. I ordered the chile rellano burrito and it did not disappoint. Being so close to our hood, this place could be dangerous. I definitely recommend.

My husband picked up burritos for us so I haven’t actually been to the shop but the burritos were very flavorful. And huge! Here in San Diego, size does matter when it comes to burritos and these were legit. I got carne asada and my husband got a California burrito and we were both very satisfied. The hot sauce was particularly tasty as well — decent amount of heat and complemented the burritos nicely. Will definitely be back.

First time here. Fish tacos were amazing. Hot and spicy were the best. Best I have ever had. Friendly staff and very clean.

Tacos is in the name so I tried three kinds of tacos. Each one was ok. There wasn’t anything exciting about any of the tacos I tried from here. I tried three kinds of meat(nothing memorable enough to remember the kinds). Each of them needed more salt and a little more flavor. Nothing bad but nothing great.

The meat in the beef tacos was really tender, the«pollo» for the asado was marinated well. The guacamole was a bit oniony for our liking but the best part was the beans. Definitely yummi. I would likely suggest this place for a good and not fancy lunch.

Love this taco shop! I always order my order by phone. They always have it ready for me by the time I arrive. Food is exactly what I asked for. The people who work there are sweet. Love it.

Obviously I’m not one to post bad reviews, but this place is over the top horrible. Service, food, everything… Horrible. And filthy. Sorry… I love a good hole in the wall Mexican spot, but this is a whole in the sewer.

I ordered the Salsa Verde burrito. I also used the bathroom, which was pristine. I carried my burrito out of the shop in the conveniently provided plastic bag. When I arrived back at my lodging, I devoured the burrito with total disregard for digestive best practices. I regret nothing. The burrito was tasty and the provided salsa cups allowed me to kick things up a notch. I love kicking things up a notch. It’s no movie for a nickel(those were the days) but the value on this bad boy was pretty awesome. Take note Chipotle, et al.

Best carne asada burrito I’ve had in a while. I live in the east county and we’ve got some pretty good taco shop. This one is up on the top.

Mmmm I love this place. It’s my local Mexi food spot. Super low key, casual dining to take care of your inner cravings for some deliciousness. Service: friendly and fast. You order at the front and take a seat. They’ll call you when your food is ready. I wanted a fish burrito but they usually only fry their fish. The lady kindly asked if I wanted it grilled and I was stoked! Of course, I said yes. Food: I love their fish and shrimp burritos. The BF got the Judy’s quesadilla which he loved. Messy but hit the spot. I also love their red and green spicy sauce that you can help yourself from their fridge. Ambience/décor: like I said, super low key casual. Probably about 8 – 10 tables that sit 4 people each. It’s October so they decorated the place for Halloween. Eat here for quick and delicious Mexican food :)

Been coming here for years but it’s been a while… They’ve updating the dining area and also added some paint. The windows have been updates with their new logo but they still don’t run the AC and still don’t have an ice machine… That being said, I ordered a Carne Asada burrito and my wife had a California Burrito. Both tasted great but it was too damn hot inside to enjoy ourselves… My Mexican Coke tasted good but I noticed I was charged 1.95 though it’s listed at 1.85 lol. I didn’t care as I was distracted by what you’ll see on my pics! The food is still good and their hot sauce is still excellent! Bring your own drinks when you visit, you’ll be glad you did.

This is not Nico’s. This is not Santana’s, Roberto’s, Adalberto’s or Cotija’s. This place is a nifty go to when you’re in Banker’s Hill and have to introduce a New Yorker to the California burrito concept as well as horchata. There is parking!

Been here several times before and stop by every once in a while. This place is the regular taco shop. The food is pretty good, they always have a lunch special and new menu items like the santa fe burrito or veggie burrito with grilled veggies. Watch out for the green taco sauce, it’s a little spicy! Also I recommend calling ahead during lunch because it can get busy.

Ah, Papas & Tacos, a pretty good spot in banker’s hill for Mexican food. The layout is nice and staff is professional. You’ll get a good value here as well. I found the quality to be good but it didn’t impress me like other taco shops in San Diego. The sauces didn’t seem to be on par with other taco shops as well and unfortunately, it didn’t settle too well with my stomach later throughout the day. Overall, I’d say this is a pretty descent taco shop to go to. I do notice that some people have trouble with coming here when it’s actually open but I did not have a problem in this aspect, but would imagine that it is a problem. If you happen to be in the area and the place is open, I would say try it out for yourself.

I have lived around the corner from this place for almost 5 years now, and last Friday night the planets aligned or something, because I finally got the chance to eat here. I love Mexican food, but my timing and their store hours just never met up. I would be hungry, they would be closed, they would be open but I would have to go to work, come home after a night of drinking, and closed… you get the picture. I came in just before they closed so I was trying to order quick. They had a good amount to choose from on the main menu, with all sorts of special menus to look at while you were in line as well. I went with the Chorizo Torta… and I chose correctly. The Torta was bigger than I had expected and smothered in guac. Their home made hot sauce was tasty too! Now that I know the place is good, I will be watching their schedule like a hawk. I am now determined to come back soon.
