Sat at the bar, it’s payday so I’m ready for a nice lunch. After a really hard week. What i sat down the door was not open and it was well air-conditioned on a hot day. Food was good until they open the door. I’m sitting at the bar so I closed the door. Now I have flies in my food. 30 dollar lunch for this. Nah. Go elsewhere. Service is awful.

I was completely underwhelmed by this place. I came here to grab a quick lunch, but it was far from being quick. I ordered their tonkotsu noodle soup. It took approximately 30 minutes for the noodles to come out. The noodles were okay, but of course the portion was tiny. It wasn’t really worth the $ 12+tax that I shelled out for the miniscule bowl. The worst part was the service. Considering that it is lunch time, I wanted to be in and out of the restaurant. Although the food is better than average, the sluggish service is a huge deterrent from returning to this place.

Stopped here for lunch during a day trip to San Diego from Phoenix. We came during the lunch rush but didn’t mind waiting for the bento box. It was very good and the staff was very attentive despite the rush. The food was extremely filling and very good. おいしいですね。()

ZEROSTARS– WORSTPLACEEVER. I can’t even list the number of things that went wrong. Writing this is even a waist of my time. But I want to save YOU from wasting your time. They do not honor their bonuses earned on the Five Stars app, but they will sen you bonuses and freebies to lure you in. Total Ripoff place. do not patronize. never. ever. We never had our drink order taken. They got our appetizer order wrong and then took an hour to bring 2 of the worst Cali roles I’ve ever had. then Took another 30 minutes to bring 2 incorrect roles. They didn’t even check on us and weren’t apologetic at all. TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE. SAVEYOURSELF.

PREPARETOBESUPERGROSSEDOUT: Update: So… my husband and I have been going here for about a year, and we decided a few times ago not to ever go again because the service is horrible. Pretty much non existent. But, since it’s pretty much the only decent sushi place around downtown, we kept going. Now THIS is where it gets MINDBOGGLING… today we sat down at the sushi bar. The sushi chef was playing with a fly swatter and touching the end with his HANDS. My husband said«…um is that a fly swatter??» he said«oh yeah, we get a lot of flies with the doors being open». I said«so you’re playing with the end of it(with fly guts on it) with your hands??» He looked confused… then laughed and mockingly said«okay I’ll wash this for YOU guys». Needless to say, we left immediately and will never ever be back. I also texted all of my friends who live nearby and told them the story. None of them will be back either. That chef should be fired and never rehired. I can’t imagine what his hygiene habits are NOT in front of customers!!! So gross.

This sushi joint was conveniently located near pretty much everything in DT San Diego. The quality of the sushi was fairly decent but nothing really to write home about. Sushi afecionados would likely rate at 2 – 3 stars in terms of quality and presentation. Those enjoying happy hour and such would likely rate it higher. A pet peeve of mine is a distinct odor I can’t quite place. Is it windex, some sort of cleaner on a rag? Not sure but if you smell it, you’d know it, and nod with understanding. Lol. Other than these gripes, it’s a good place to hang and chill with friends for a few drinks before heading to the clubs.

Spontaneously walked in to Ogawashi craving some sushi and was greeted with a smile, then walked to my seat at the sushi bar. Luckily it was happy hour. So I ordered a philly roll, some garlic edamame, some chicken teriyaki and a sake bomb with Sapporo lite. Food came out perfect. Some nice neat rolls. Chicken teriyaki was sizzling on a hot plate plus a nice potent garlicky aroma from the edamame. All in all this was a great experience. The ambience was perfect next to an open window on fifth st, which made it feel like I was eating street food in Japan. Will definitely be back. Awesome

I ate here since it was close to the Symphony and my boyfriend and I were going to see a show that night and didn’t want to be late. I decided to try the langostino baked roll and the yellowtail sashimi. The yellowtail was decent but the roll, it was awful! It was completely over cooked that the langostin on top was completely rubbery and the rest of the roll just stuck to the baking dish. The people who were next to us were completely drunk and so rowdy that it make it hard to enjoy the restaurant or have a conversation. Although it was really cheap for sushi, that doesn’t make it worth it to go back to and the food reflected the low price point.

Came here for Green Tea Ice Cream. Super cheap at $ 2 and looks more like a sundae! 4 stars for that. Great value. $ 3 Sake during Happy Hour, $ 3 tempura veggies, gyoza and lots of other discounted rolls makes this place a to go for late night cravings. Nice trendy and sleek urban lights everywhere. Overall 3.5 stars

I had no intention of going back to this dump, but my uncle wanted sushi and its location is convenient. we went in and mr yi approached us and said«remove your review and within 5 days you will be allowed back to this restaurant«. ha !! hey mr.yi. your food is so below mediocre you should be ashamed of yourself. the service is awful and you have no people skills. you also need to learn the rules of service dogs,.it is a federal law you broke by making us sit in the cold the last horrid time we were there… in answer to your ridiculous request., not a chance in hell. don’t go here they treat their customers and service dogs like lepers.

Great little sushi spot near the«business district»… Service is below average food quality went from great to good to mehhhh. Reasonable prices and the environment with the open windows and modern décor makes it for a good lunch spot. For the bento box they advertise it as soup, salad and rice. If you order to go they will not give you the soup. The worst part is they don’t even tell you :( Farewell.

First time coming here after wandering around for places to eat in downtown. We had their garlic edamame, x-girlfriend roll, VEGAS roll, baked salmon and the fish burrito. The x-girlfriend was the more popular choice according to the waitress and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fish burrito was a unique take on the«sushirrito» since they used soy paper wrap. Their garlic edamame had a light citrus flavor along with the garlic. We stumbled across them during their happy hour 3 pm until close so pricing was a delightful surprise. Drafts beers for $ 3 with choices from popular breweries like Mother Earth Cali Creamin’ to Pizza Port’s amber ale. Service was alright, although the waitresses seemed indifferent. Be sure to let them know if you are still working on something, food or drink. I was not able to finish my beer before she took it away. Overall the place is great for the food, the atmosphere and the prices, if you’re not looking for above average servicing.

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced sushi place and can manage your expectations, this is the place. A lot of the rolls have«imitation crab» so we skipped those but when we asked the very nice waitress for rolls that had«real fish», she pointed the way. The rolls we had were fresh, good sized, and about ½ the price of other sushi placed. This was because it was«happy hour», which for some reason is from 3-close. No argument there. We at a ton of food, and drinks, and its was way cheaper than many of the other places we’ve eaten. A good example was the agedashi tofu, which is one of our favorite dishes. We got 4 large pieces, that were excellent, for $ 4. In most place it’s at least 8. For those tired of the downtown gouging of large prices for small rolls, this place might be the answer…

Solid lunch offering in the downtown area. I am a fan of the bento boxes, a nice little variety of items. Sushi and sashimi have always been good there. Fast service. Servers themselves aren’t the most friendly, but during lunch time I don’t really care as along as you get the food to me quick. They do charge if you change out things, which sort of sucks because all I am asking is for salmon sashimi over lets say yellowtail sashimi, but that’s my own really gripe. Bonus I haven’t died yet in the three trips I’ve been there, and really that deserves a star when we are talking raw fish

Great food, pretty good service, although rather loud atmosphere. Ordered the crazy sushi combo at lunch. Comes with a good assortment of nigiri(salmon, yellowtail, tuna, etc.) and you choose one specialty roll. I chose the Hot Night roll and it was excellent! Service was quick too. In 6 – 7 minutes I had my food! Love the open design but it does make for a noisy environment. Great place! Will come back again!

Ate here for the first time and was impressed. I remember it was an ESPN sports bar but now it’s revamped. Imagine one of those Japanese houses you see in those Kurosawa movies all wood interior, but updated and modern with nice lights and nice dining. I first only came in to use the bathroom which I might add is immaculate. There’s a ginger-like air freshener I smelled that started off my experience in a positive direction. I felt compelled to purchase something after. I sat down at the sushi bar which was also very clean and was offered what seemed like house made pickles and ginger for cleansing my taste palette. Man these mini pickles are extremely delicious. I ordered a two item bento box Kalbi/Korean short ribs and 6 piece sashimi. All of which were high quality. The sashimi melted in my mouth and the portion of tasty ribs were generous for what I paid. I got four bone pieces. $ 10 and some change not sure if it was a lunch special but I’ve been butt raped harder for short ribs at a Hawaiian place which didn’t taste as good. The box came with edamame, moderately sticky white rice ideal for picking up with sticks and a mini salad with an incredible dressing. It had some kick with hint of sour not the usual creamy tan sesame dressing you usually get. Sushi chef said it was possibly ginger something. It was so good I took the shredded cabbage that the Kalbi was sitting on and soaked up the remaining dressing that was in that bento partition.

Been here a few times, and their happy hour is amazing, every time. To be honest, I’m usually here to drink, but their specials are pretty good too. I’m usually here to drink their cocktails, but their happy hour specials on specialty rolls are $ 9, $ 4 for hand rolls and the last time I came in, it was $ 4 for 2 oysters. It’s a great place to stop by for a quick snack and a few drinks, it’s never too busy but busy enough. Their service at the bar is great.

Nice urban décor. The hostess sat us closer to the inside of the restaurant and not to the window where we wanted to be. Perhaps so we could enjoy ourselves and conversation and not the distracting crowd from C and fifth by the trolley stop. Quite… an interesting crowd. She said the waiter for that area was not in yet. I took a look at their menu but was not sold on any of the rolls or couple of ramen choices. I didn’t want to risk it so I played it safe and got a bento box with two items. Their portions were generous and delicious. Will definitely come back for some other items on the menu.
