Nick Apablasa

This review is long overdue, since I last used his service in 2012, but Nick is seriously amazing. He did my hair for the Marine Corps ball, (I have incredibly thick curly hair) and it looked amazing and stayed until I washed it out. He was so friendly and talkative, and got the job in half the time I could have. Plus his prices are very reasonable. Will definitely use him next time I need my hair straightened. No other stylist I’ve had was able to make my hair stay! Mixed people, go to him!!!

I have been seeing Nick for almost two years now. I jokingly refer to him as my Hair Master! As a person born with thick, curly, frizzy hair I can say he’s changed my life! I moved to California 5 years ago and got some of the worst haircuts of my life until I found Nick. Now I get compliments all the time. I’ve even referred people to him because they want to have hair like mine. I will never let anyone else touch my hair.

I was recommended to Nick by someone I work with. She had gotten the Keratin treatment, and I was so impressed by how shinny and smooth her hair looked when she came into work. I’ve always thought about getting the Keratin treatment done, but was a bit nervous and wasn’t sure if the benefits would justify the cost. After I told my coworker this, she handed me Nick’s card and insisted that I go!
I am not a big « Unilocaler». I really only do reviews if I am really impressed by something. Another thing to note is that I’m not an avid beauty & hair care person. Sometimes I will trim my own hair bangs, and will try to DIY before I go into a salon and spend money. It takes a lot for me to go out and get something done from a professional. After I went online and checked out Nick’s prices, reviews, and before/​after pictures, I decided to make an appointment.
Honestly, I will be a repeat customer to Nick for both cuts and keratin treatment. My hair is course and wavy/​curly. I straighten it, but it usually curls up after a few hours. I’m on day 2 of my keratin treatment, which is a bit early, however I am so impressed with the results. It looks literally like I got extensions. (In a good way). It is so shiny and smooth! Plus, the keratin treatment straightens your hair so much that you actually add about an inch of length to it!
The best part for me was the cut. I have not cut my hair since Jan. (about a year), and I have been bound and determined to grow it out and not cut it at all. I told this to Nick, and he was very cool with it — not pressuring me to trim my ends «because that’s how hair grows». (I hate that line). Then, before I got out of the chair I changed my mind and asked him if I could just get a few layers in, without taking any off the ends. He did EXACTLY what I wanted, and it looked amazing! It gave me great body at the crown, without taking anything away from the length and fullness.
Again, I am not a huge « Unilocaler», but you seriously need to give Nick a call. This is the best my hair has ever looked!!!

Visited Nick last week on short notice. It was my first visit with him and I’m always somewhat hesitant when trying a new stylist. I had been going to the same one for a few years, but I knew that I could get a better cut elsewhere — just didn’t know where. An ex-​girlfriend referred me to Nick and I’m glad she did. I’m very pleased. I joked with him about Unilocal ratings, not really thinking I would end up posting (let alone giving him 5 stars).
