Nelly’s Couturiere – Alterations

Please come back! I’m getting married next May, and my gown arrives in February!

I found Nelly after I purchased my wedding gown off the rack and knew that it needed some significant changes in order for it to be my dream dress. I refused to have the bridal shop do the alterations after they told me it would cost nearly as much as the dress did. Upon first meeting Nelly, her professionalism and knowledge of dressmaking was obvious. I knew I could trust her with my dress. We met for about three total fittings and the completed product ended up being a custom made dress for me. A week before my wedding, I picked it up, pressed and perfect and ready to wear. I wasn’t particularly interested in wearing a veil, but Nelly made me one anyway, and I’m so glad she did, I really looked like a bride. Her prices are reasonable and yes, she does her work out of her home in Mira Mesa now. Thank you so much Nelly, my wedding gown is something that I will treasure forever, and spending time with you during my fittings is such a nice memory.

Jen D. referred me to Nelly and she was wonderful. She moved to a house in Mira Mesa, so she is no longer in North Park. She made a veil for me and included it with my alterations! I picked out the beading based on her creative ideas. Her personality and charm are top notch… she really loves «her brides» and is very talented. She always greeted me with a huge hug and tons of enthusiasm. As Jen said, she has bridal shop experience but is WAY better than going to a bridal shop and is very reasonable.

Just had my wedding gown professionally altered by Nelly and she is truly amazing. Really cares about her craft and has decades of tailoring experience, especially with bridal/​formal wear. She works out of her North Park apartment, right in the living room, but don’t let her lack of a shop discourage you — she is very talented, personable AND affordable! Do NOT get your dress altered by the bridal shops! She was half the price and I’m sure that her quality of work is MUCH better. I will continue to go to her for any alterations I need in the future and strongly recommend her work.
