I’m resorting to writing my comments on Unilocal, since the Monaco homeowners’ association refuses to acknowledge our requests, complaints, and comments. It’s a great little neighborhood, but there are many problems. The association refuses to do anything about the numerous cars parked in driveways on nearly every street: Via Cristal, Via Magdalena, etc. Not only is it illegal to park in driveways, but the sidewalks are blocked all day, every day! One has to walk in the street to get around the cars. Imagine watching as some of the little kids in our neighborhood, just learning to walk, have to be led into the STREET, just to get around the parked cars. Same thing with people walking their dogs. And what about wheelchair or stroller access? Forget it. The association is guilty of violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act for allowing this to happen. And it’s not just cars in driveways. Many homeowners rent their units, and the renters are notorious for breaking the rules. Wednesday is trash pickup day, and it’s agreed that people should put their trash containers out on Tuesday evening, and bring them back in as early as possible on Wed. Yet you’ll see trash cans outside of garages, in driveways, or on the street all week long! There is a growing number of inoperative cars. An old blue BMW528 has been sitting in space number 42, broken down, with flat tires, since January 2013! And there’s a Toyota, with an old, wrinkled, and ignored«Do not park here or you will be towed» ticket on its windshield-ignored for weeks on end. There’s been a number of car break-ins, kids throwing bottles and trash, and a whole lot of noise late at night, yet the security guards drive by so quickly, they can’t possibly notice, and refuse to do anything about it. There’s no web site or e-mail address to write to, so it’s impossible to get Monaco to do anything. The telephone number they have listed is for their homeowner’s representative, and not the actual management company, so it does no good to call. I’m looking for suggestions on how to improve our community. Any ideas? Here’s Monaco’s contact info: Monaco Homeowners’ Association, 7660 Via Cristal, San Diego, CA92129 Telephone: 858−538−1536
