On our first day in San Diego, the Mission Brewery was calling our name. Had a few tasters followed by a few pints that were fantastic. Although they didn’t have a food menu, there was a food truck outside serving delectable smelling cuisine. Definitely worth the trip for some great craft brews!

Don’t walk into this brewery! Instead, text their free shuttle service and they’ll pick you up anywhere in downtown and take you to Mission Brewery. They’ll give you a coupon for $ 3 for your first beer. That’s half price! I had a coffee stout for my $ 3 beer and it knocked me on my ass. Almost 10% alcohol content. I couldn’t try another beer after that one or I’d have my whole day be shot. Nice staff, and interesting looking building.

Good beer, bartender with the mustache more interested in talking then serving or cleaning. Wow. Rude to a new level. I had to wave a $ 20 and he still ignored me and others. Tables full of empties, the other bartender was working hard. Hope they’don’t have to share tips! I will have try again sometime and give them one more chance. But that bartender– wow, poison for business.

** 3.5STARS ** After hitting up two other breweries earlier in the day, we were on a… mission…for more beer! Mission Brewery seemed like a good choice close to downtown. There’s only street parking, but there seemed to be a lot of it. You can see Petco Park from here– it’s not quite walking distance, but it would still make a good watering hole after a game. The inside of this brewery is quite cool. Outside it looks like a warehouse, but the inside looks like a pirate tavern. There’s also a shuffleboard table off to the side, but I didn’t get to try it because so many people were already playing. I think they recently renovated the side area too for a more modern, cool look. There was a private party going on upstairs, so we just stayed in the main tasting room. There is no food, but there was an outside party grilling hot dogs outside, and I believe they have complimentary chips. I got four tasters for $ 7, and a HARDROOTBEER($ 6.50). Unfortunately, I thought these beers did not stand out very much. They weren’t bad, but nothing made me want to come back specifically for that brew. The best one was probably their DARKSEAS stout, with an ABV of 9.8% and a rich flavor. I also had the SHIPWRECKEDIPA, which was a smooth drink but not very memorable. I thought the GRAPEFRUITIPA and GINGERBEER(cask) were below average. The hard root beer was quite disappointing to me. With an ABV of 7.5%, it packs a punch. It certainly smelled like root beer, but the taste was very heavy on the licorice and tasted almost medicinal. Not Your Father’s Root Beer is much, much better. I won’t come back anytime soon, because there are so many more breweries to try in San Diego, but the atmosphere is great and their beers are decently priced. Took the orange line to the stop by the pedestrian bridge over to the convention center so kind of drops you off in a sketchy area but it was daylight and the brewery was about 2 blocks away … sometimes you have to put your life on the line to get a good beer. Very large tap room that could house a very big crowd. Seating is uncomfortable. Good selection of beers at good prices with classic brewpub atmosphere — if I lived here I would be a regular.

Great place to grab a beer before a ball game. They have a nice variety including some sweet stuff like Hard Root Beer Floats. Nice staff and a good vibe.

I have always been a huge fan of Mission beers. I have pretty good access to Mission beers at the grocery store and at local brewery bars so I was in fantasy land when I fell into the brewery. It was huge with a huge back area, a tall, large, bar, and funny, down to earth bar tenders. I had such a great experience here. I was so happy with the Stouts and very pleased with the frozen cocktail. the Heffmosa: part slushie, VEGAS style fat tuesday orange mixture, with part Hefeweizen was sweet and delicious. NOFOOD inside the brewery, which made me sad, but there is always a different food place right outside the brewery every night. I was there on a Sunday and they had a BBQ canvas table selling delicious smelling things to much on. And the swag, T-shirt, glasses section was sweet too. Was glad that I was able to pick up some merchandise and take it home with me to Long Beach. Anytime I am in town, I will come though for sure.

This is one of most charming Breweries to visit in San Diego. It has a mission feel, but also kind of a pirate feel. Come to think of it, I probably like it because it reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, and that’s a virtue! Also, don’t forget to grab some ribs outside the main entrance. They are as good as they smell.

A good-looking, huge brewery. Love the vibe, love the package design, love the tasting area, but just not in love with the beer. Granted, they have a huge selection, and are wildly successful. But not one among the Pilsner, Amber, IPAs, and a DIPA that I tried made me want to order more than a taster. None could hold their own against local boys like Ballast Point and mighty Stone Brewing. And that’s a shame because they’ve got a great operation. I just think they need to elevate their game to the next level and create a giant killer.

Off the beaten path a bit is Mission Brewing, located in of course an old mission building. The space is enormous though some is still being constructed, and there is plenty of space to stretch out. Sadly the large bar means slower service, but the beers here are worth the wait. The Shipwrecked double IPA at over 9% is the most popular draw here, but for a largely hop forward brewery, the maltier wheats, dunklebocks, and koclshs are pretty tasty as well. The shuffleboard table is also nice if you can get a turn at it. The world’s biggest dog, a husky that looked like a direwolf also was here, but that might not be like a permanent thing.

Came here last week with my boyfriend after having a huge lunch in downtown. I initially came here when they had just opened, and I was really into ales back then, and I was initially impressed. Location: in east village, there’s lots of parking around which is nice so you don’t have to wander around that part of town. Ambience: they’ve really done a lot with the place since it’s opened !!! I love the exterior brick building. So much history in that building and it’s really amazing just to sit in there and enjoy the scenery. They also have some great artwork on the walls. Beers: I tried a few of their IPAs and they were really good! The coffee IPA was really tasty with an interesting flair. Service: our bartender wasn’t the friendliest, which is why I’m taking one star off. He didn’t seem like he was very interested in talking to us and I felt as though we were«bugging» him asking for more beer. All in all I really like this place and it’s a solid SD craft brew classic

Came here for a beer tasting tour as part of my bachelorette celebration a few months ago. We had 8 girls in our group and the whole tour lasted a little under one hour. We tried 6 different beers, starting with their lightest ale and going to the darkest. My favorite was their alcoholic root beer! So good… I’m sure it would be amazing with some ice cream :) The only downside here is the parking. The weekend we came there was some sort of show/convention going on so they blocked off a few streets and parking lots nearby were charging $ 30 for parking. The brewery’s parking lot was blocked off so we didn’t have any access to it and it was really difficult to find street parking.

Beautiful 2 story tasting room with an amazing view of Petco Park. The antique design goes perfect with its conquistador and missionary theme; a perfect choice for San Diego.

Free Snyder’s pretzels. I’d give five stars just for that. But otherwise, the place is rad, the merch is made super well and fits fantastically, and the beers… THEBEERS!!! All amazing. I want to replace my blood with Espresso Dark Seas. Come visit.

This is a legitimate brewery that makes their own beer and has an ample bar with lots of seating to try their many, different offerings. They have a variety of light and dark ales and even hard root beer. Their taps do rotate and, at times, they run out of certain brews. Staff is very friendly and willing to allow sample tastings. However, on a busy night, they may not be as attentive. tip — they have individual bags of potato chips on the counter that are free for patrons

I’m familiar with Mission Brewery. I’ve had their Hard Rootbeer and Dark Seas. Both are likable depending on what you’re looking for, but I was in the mood to try something new. Just our luck, there were plenty of seasonal beers and other unique frozen cocktails. I decided to go with a Blueberry Blonde while my friend tried the Frozen Orange Lemonade. The Blueberry Blonde is very fruit forward, on the nose and palate. It’s perfect for a light summer drink or just to relax. The cocktails are 7.5% ABV and is like a slurpee for adults. They can be a bit alcohol forward as the ice melts, but they are nice sippers or drinks to sit on. And as you kick back with beers or cocktails, there’s free chips at the bar to munch on too! They also have beer competitions hourly or so. To enter, you pay $ 6 for a giant mug and the goal of the competition is to be the last man(or woman) standing for who holds up their beer the longest. Quite interesting to see all the contestants and I heard a few bystanders placing their bets on who they think would take it all. Winner gets $ 10! Before we hopped to the next location, friends did some shopping in their small merch store. You can take home bottles, apparel or gifts to friends, family or yourself haha. It’s a small shop, but it covers a bit of everything for the Mission Brewery fan.

Quality beer for a decent price, and it’s close to the ballpark! Gotta love it. The bartenders are helpful, the beers are outstanding, and there’s even free snack bags available for you to munch on while you’re hanging out. I liked Mission Brewery’s beers before I ever stopped by, but after visiting the multiple times this summer I truly love ‘em. The only downer is it can be a bit hot in there when the weather is steamy, but hey, after a couple beers it’s all good. So no stars deducted. Great gift shop too! Keep up the great work Mission Brewery!

I bought a groupon for $ 17 for a tour for two that included 5 tasters each and two free glasses. I didn’t know what to expect but it was an interesting experience. The parking was terrible though that might be because there was a Padres game that day as well. We had to park a quarter mile away. The tour was very informative. I actually learn a lot about beer. Our tour guide was friendly. The tasters we got was enough to make me full. We got a full variety and ended with the hard root beer which is amazing! It was by far my favorite. The brewery itself isn’t large but it’s a good size. Many people there seemed to go there often. They mainly carry their own beers but had a pretty good variety. The had some games and free snacks which is nice.

In the old Wonder Bread factory. Pretty cool in here. Theres parking on the street in front of Mission and 2hour parking stalls perpendicular to Mission entrance. Walked in with my fiancée. Mission has a pretty big setup. Long bar to sit at and a lot of space/tables for big groups as well. There are about 2 – 3 beertenders that are friendly and prompt. Prices are decent and they have alot of beers on tap. They have specialty fruity beers as well which come out in a slushie form and drink with a straw. Interesting The building itself is a warehouse, yet feels homely and non echo“y like warehouses do feel. The building takes in alot of natural lighting which was pretty cool too. They also have shuffle board too and free pretzels! Flight of ANY4 beers for $ 7(inlcuding the slushies) Mission ipa 6.8%- I really like this IPA, Had a good hoppiness to it and good balance. Hard Root Beer 7.5% — My cousin randy introduced this beer to me– Literally taste like root beer. Dangerous at 7.5%. Would fool people if you said it was root beer. Really good — Must try Grapefruit ipa.7.5%- Pretty good grapefruit IPA. Ive tasted a few grapefruit IPA, this one stands up to the other ones ive tried. Id say it would be a second to Wavelengths grapefruit. I tried a few others– but these are the only ones that i liked and would get pints of. Definately would come back.

Mission Brewery is located in an old Wonder Bread bakery. The space is spacious and inviting as was the staff. It’s a bit more of a touristy spot than say the brew houses on Hwy 78. It’s near the downtown core, Pet Co park and the Gas Lamp. This pub is not a hidden gem but a gem none the less. The prices were comparable to other breweries which I have tried. I enjoyed Shipwrecked the best so I purchase a 30oz can to enjoy at the beach. The one star down grade is due to the parking. It was to easy to find a spot. I went in the evening and the place was busy as were other spots in the area so atkins was limited. Fun was had and would return.
