MHS Tailor Made Construction Crews

My wife and I just decided to have my mother move into our home with us, however we did not have any wheelchair access so we had to have a ramp built so she could get in and out of our house. After some research we came across MHS Construction. Their price they quoted me was a lot lower than the other few companies I had talked to which threw me off at first. When it comes to construction you don’t want to base your decision solely on price. However after talking to Don, the owner, I felt comfortable moving forward with them. The ramp turned out amazing and they had it completed just in time for my mothers move in date.

The kitchen cabinets had been an eyesore and inefficient for my needs since forever. I would idly leaf through catalogs and dream. One day I had had enough and boldly called a home remodel company add inquired about the feasibility. It might be pricey, but we were staying for the foreseeable future. What is the point of having your dream home if the most important room isn’t to your liking?
I met with Don, the owner, at our home so he could view the kitchen himself. An initial consultation, some cost analysis, and I signed the contract. Some intrusiveness, of course, but the process was as quick as humanly possible and the results have garnered praise from friends and most importantly, makes me happy to be in my kitchen creating again!

I remember my excitement signing the paperwork when we bought the house, but as we actually lived in the space, certain adjustments needed to be made to enhance our quality of life. To me it became overwhelming, so I called MHS and asked for some guidance. They pointed out some flaws, but in general were happy to make the changes that I suggested, and were able to quote me a reasonable fee with a completion deadline. I may now be the happiest camper on our entire block and I love making all the neighbors jealous when I invite them over for dinner parties!

Hired MHS through Home Depot’s Redbeacon service. The job: Bring a washer /​dryer enclosure up to code.
The Facts:
1) MHS failed to frame the doorway correctly. Top is 36.5″, bottom is 36″, top is not level.
2) Took them four (4) times to tile correctly. This would not have been seen if I had not taken leave in order to watch over the workers.
3) They damaged our walls, island walls, washer, & over sprayed on furniture.
4) Impossible to correspond with management at MHS. Called, emailed and left messages with reception…
5) No MHS supervisor was present the work site.
I will not suggest that you do (or do not) hire MHS. Base your decision on the facts.
Fact is I negotiated out of the contract in order to prevent continued rework and damage to my CONDO.
Nothing says welcome back to the States after serving 20 years overseas, than having to pay for a work crew to damage your property.

There are lots of good contractors in the San Diego area. This one not so much. I’d go elsewhere if I was you.
