Great place for breakfast. The waiter Luis is absolutely wonderful and pays attention to detail. Great service and they have a very nice manager. We stayed at the Omni for 3 days and had breakfast at the restaurant. Wonderful experience.

My wife and I try different happy hours around the Gaslamp prior to Padres games. The McCormick and Schmick’s is one of our favorites. The burger is really good and only 5 bucks! The mussels are excellent as well. Bartenders are friendly. The only downside is that it is a bar not conducive to watching sports on TV. They have just a couple of TVs and they are not really visible from most of the bar. They seem to have been an afterthought. The bar wasn’t really set up initially to be a «sports bar». Outside of that though, really good happy hour.

We stopped in a couple of hours before the Billy Joel Concert and we’re told that they were only seating parties with reservations. I had been monitoring Open Table for availability and they were wide open, so I told the host I would be right back while I stepped into the lobby to make a reservation on Open Table. Within about 1 minute I re-approached the host and told her I had a reservation, and we were seated immediately on the patio. A few minutes later the bartender came and took our drink order. Approximately 10 minutes later we had our drinks in-hand and began to relax while we waited for our order to be taken. While we were waiting for our server the host approached our table and asked us if we had in fact checked-in at the host stand. Seriously? We already had a bottle of wine on the table, so it was pretty clear our order had been taken; what would their procedure had been if we had not checked-in, asked us to leave? I assured the host that we had checked-in(keep in mind that she was the one who seated us in the 1st place). The bartender came back to check on us and I explained what had just happened. He commented that they were only seating guests who had reservations, so I explained how we walked in and made a reservation while I stood in the lobby. He commented that Open Table«was the bain of his existence and frequently over seats the restaurant. He departed and came back a few minutes later and introduced us to our server. The server took our order which consisted of two appetizers and a cheeseburger. Approximately 25 minutes elapsed and no one had checked on us, or updates us on the status of our order. We saw our server pass by and I asked her if she could check on the status of our order, as we had a concert to attend shortly. I’m not kidding when I say this, the server commented something to the effect of, «It’s been really busy and a lot of people keep asking about their orders»; needless to say she never checked on our order. About 5 minutes later our food was delivered. I have to admit the burger was quite tasty, but according to my wife, her appetizers were less than appealing and overpriced. We inhaled our meal as we were out of time and had to get to the concert venue across the street at Petco Park. When our server finally returned to check on us we asked for the check, since we now had to run(literally). The server returned within a couple of minutes with the check and we paid in cash, as we were concerned how long it would take her to return if we had used a card. This was overall a negative experience that I do not wish to repeat, unfortunately, we have a $ 50.00 McCormick and Schmick’s gift card that we need to use; maybe I’ll just wait until the next time we are in Anaheim to redeem it. The service on this occasion was poor, as well as the communication from the service staff. Regarding Open Table, I suggest the restaurant monitor their online inventory to avoid over seating the restaurant and update availability to reflect actual capacity. If staffing or capacity cannot accommodate the volume, do not seat additional guests. In summary, my burger was good, the apps were overpriced and did not reflect fresh coastal cuisine, and the service was WAY off the mark.

Arrived at 3:30 with no reservation I was told the dining room was fully booked. I was offered a table in the bar. Service was very good. When I left they had at least 12 unoccupied tables. I’m not sure what kind of games they were playing but it reminded me of Vegas in the 60’s. I should have offered a tip! Then as I was walking out not word of thanks. But thanks for taking care of the military for Memorial Day.

The service here was very attentive. I went into the Omni on impulse, and although the restaurant looked empty, the dining area in the back might have been more crowded and without a reservation(as they claimed to be booked — - and to that point there was the convention center across the street which always commands great demand for dining in the surrounding area), it was to be a wait. As an option they had a bar and a lounge area which was rather empty where they served the full menu, seating was immediate. I feared I’d sit there and get ignored like a ghost with poor service. My fears were unfounded, in fact I think they felt bad about not having accommodations in the dining room, so were super duper attentive, very graciously friendly and proactive. I was«dining for one» solo too, on a business trip, and eating alone can sometimes be socially awkward and the self conscious stigmas kick in for a bit of discomfort. With that being said, the lounge made for a perfect and more desired atmosphere and environment for me over the more formal dining room. The swordfish was delicious along with the brussels sprouts and potatoes the dish came with for $ 32 for dinner. I think this is a secret hidden restaurant to the degree it’s off outside of the main strip of the Gaslamp and also tucked away within a hotel, so it’s a great place to consider making a reservation for or on impulse, dropping by to dine, especially if the surrounding area is crowded and you’re looking for options and opportunities to eat quality food, conveniently.

Although I am not a huge seafood lover, I have frequented McCormick and Schmidt’s many times, as it is next to Petco Park and I am a half-season ticket holder. Located next to the trolley stop, it makes for great people-watching while sitting at the bar or dining. But the restaurant’s food is what sets it apart. I have never been disappointed in their steaks, and have found their shrimp cocktail and sauce to be one of the best I have ever had. The wait staff is very friendly and professional. One can tell from interacting with them that they have been trained professionally and take their hospitality roles seriously. Their manager, Fernando, is one of the most delightful people I have ever met. He engages with the restaurant’s guests, making sure their needs are met, while he keeps an eye on his staff. I have never had an even slight issue with McCormick and Schmidt’s and highly recommend the restaurant on many levels.

McCormick & Schmick’s had their Veteran’s Day complimentary meal today and I must say I was impressed. My hubby had the cedar plank salmon from the vet menu and I had the scrimp scampi from the regular menu. I think the picture speaks for itself. This dish was delicious, the shrimp were large and succulent, the linguine perfectly cooked and the sauce was just yummy. I think I inhaled this meal it was so dam good. I have not visited this establishment in awhile however I will have to add it back to my repertoire of restaurants.

This was our hotel restaurant while staying in the Omni in downtown San Diego. We had breakfast here each morning and dinner one evening. Overall, the restaurant has a nice airy atmosphere and the service was consistently good. The food was fair. Nothing too special for any meal. The hasbrowns were way overcooked the first day, but were very good the other days. Prices are high for what you get, but for convenience, I would keep going. Especially for breakfast.

Great newly remodeled patio! The furnishings are gorgeous and comfortable. The food was excellent, as always,(had the salmon penne with artichokes in a pesto cream sauce), and the manager, Fernando, was a gracious host. They are extremely dog-friendly here(not just dog tolerant) and welcomed the pups with a bowl of ice cold water(much appreciated on this 90 degree day)! This is a great place to stop for a nice lunch or dinner, especially if you’re looking to dine al fresco with Fido or Fifi.

BEHOLD! This most expensive cheeseburger I’ve ever eaten! $ 18 of beef, bacon, mushrooms, and what I think was a 8 or 10oz beef patty on a ciabatta roll, with a huge mound of of thick garlic truffle fries… expensive, but its a lot of food and pretty darn good! I’m not sure if the cow was local, organic, grass fed, free range, prime, massaged, liberal, and/or gluten-free, but he/she was definitely a tasty cow. Came here for a friend’s birthday, and the staff treated us very-very-very well at this upscale chain restaurant. My middle class salary can’t afford to eat here regularly, but its really just a few dollars more than Fox Sports Grill($ 15) or other burgers you’ll find in the Gaslamp. Yes $ 18 is a lot of money for a burger, but the quality is way beyond spending $ 2 at McDonalds or $ 11 at TGI Fridays. Corkage fee is $ 15, which is great if you’re bringing a $ 5 wine bottle like we did. I’ll definitely be back for this gourmet burger during Comic Con next year.

For a nice hotel, this restaurant isn’t the greatest. The service is even worse. We weren’t greeted when we arrived, and had to ask for a table for 2. We had the breakfast buffet which was $ 19 I think, which had an assortment of things — scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, pastries, fruit, omelettes. However the worst thing about this place was that there was one waiter for the entire section that we were seated. Trying to get his attention took way longer than we wanted. This place is fine for a basic American breakfast, but the service isn’t good.

Update 7÷21÷15:(This happened the evening of 7÷20÷15) One of the managers, Fernando, leaves a voicemail at my room because of my previous post and he wanted to talk to me about the incident that prompted me to leave my last review. I end up going back downstairs to the restaurant to see the manager, per the managers request. I get down there and Fernando is very helpful and apologizes on behalf of Luis, who happens to be working that evening. After about 20 minutes at the bar with one of my buddy’s, the bartender, Luis recognizes me and looks over and sarcastically asks how I’m doing as he giggles. I laugh back and acknowledge his sarcastic greet. He walks over to a coworker and looks over and starts talking to his coworker as they both look over to our direction, and Luis continues to speak to his coworker continuously glancing over to us, as a way to let us know that he was talking about us. I walk over to the bar area and ask why he keeps looking over and making remarks about us to his coworker, and he tells me to get the hell away from him because I supposedly told the manager that I don’t want to talk to him(Luis). He tells me that he gets off at midnight and that he’ll be out in front? Hahaha! really? I’m in front of you dude?! Talk about unprofessional! Then he goes on saying that I need to walk away and that I’ve been warned. As he grabs a nearby fork and clutches it like he plans on doing something with it. good one Luis! Threatening your customers? McCormick and Schmicks, watch out for this guy, he’s hurting your business. Original review: I must say, this is the worst place for service! I’m giving them one star because this application doesn’t give me the ability to give them any less than that or negative. My experience here has been horrible. Once, maybe the person, but if it happens twice, corporate needs to evaluate their people. It seems like insulting their customers is a practice at this particular location. I’ve been to other locations with wonderful service, but here, if they don’t know you, they’ll judge you. My server was Luis this time around, and this guy was not very pleasant. I’m sorry to say but this place is not highly recommended. I felt like I was judged by how I was dressed. C’mon I just got out the gym. I tip at least 25−30%, but the way you judged me pissed me off.

Went here during Comic Con for lunch with my SO. Or should I say we tried to eat here for lunch. We were seated for lunch outside and never received service. This is despite the fact that there was no one else eating lunch at the time. Two people who were seated after us(one outside as well) were served drinks and had their order taken. The waitress looked at us a few times but did not seem to care. After about 15 minutes we decided to leave. We let the hostess know(who apologized) but still didn’t seem to really care. Needless to say we will not be returning here.

McCormick’s is a family favorite – it’s incredibly intimate, service is up to par, and it’s never packed, leaving little to no wait time. Such a treat to come here for family gatherings/special occasions! Also so much fun eating here during Comic Con because the convention center is adjacent to the restaurant and you can literally step outside to take a picture with Darth Vader and Sailor Moon, and sit back down to eat. To start, literally each one of my family members will order their own crab tower because it’s THAT good! I usually come here for lunch and have so many favorites including the albacore tuna sandwich, the salmon pasta, ugh yum the list goes on. The dessert options are spectacular as well. Apple pie with cinnamon ice cream here is soo similar to going to Julian except without the windy roads for a drive. They also have carrot cake(without raisins)!

Breakfast menu with a large selection and daily special. Today’s special is a vegetable frittata served open faced, with hash browns, and choice of toast. The frittata was perfectly cooked with plenty of vegetables yet not overpowering. The hash browns crispy on the outside and soft inside. The bread lightly toast with a hint of butter. Whether staying at this hotel or somewhere else and you are tired of the touristy places, come here for a real breakfast.

If you need a dining spot for private group of 16 people, McCormick and Schmick is an excellent choice for that sort of business dinner. In this case I chose to go for the value and name recognition of a national chain — a known entity for my customers. It makes sense. Rachel was the catering manager and did an excellent job handling all our needs to prepare for this event. She covered all the details. She created a menu for us, providing three different main course options, a chicken, fish, and beef dish. Everyone started with a fresh green salad and finished with the strawberry topped cheesecake. The service was excellent and the food was well-prepared providing a nice combination of flavors for each dish. I had the salmon and got the positive feedback on the other dishes from my guests. We kept the drinks simple and were able to control costs by providing beer and wine for our guests. I selected a nice Napa Valley Cabernet for a red and a Pinot Grigio for white wine. The restaurant offered all of their beer choices to our guests. These drinks selections were well organized on a special menu with drinks on one side and the food choices on the other side. The menu was customized with our corporate logo. Additionally, Rachel put our logo on a large flatscreen TV that was nicely displayed in the background for the entire evening. Our dining area was a private section of the restaurant, upstairs. The décor was contemporary with nice couches and tables, and the noise level was low making for easy dinner conversation. Our products were prominently displayed and the ambience of the room was quite comfortable. Our hotel was the Hilton bayfront in San Diego. It was an easy walk between the Hilton hotel and McCormick & Schmick. It’s nice to eliminate any transportation issues. If you want to put on a low stress high-quality business dinner for your clients McCormick & Schmick in San Diego is an excellent choice. Salute!

Bar happy hour review(M-F 4:00PM — 6:30PM) M&S located inside the Omni Hotel on the right side of the lobby. Prices for specialty drinks are still pretty high even with $ 5 off HH discount. Drinks rage from 13 to 15 bucks. Best deals you can find is on a glass of wine or a beer. Happy hour food is satisfying but most of the items are fried. Your best bet from the menu are lamb meatballs, arugula and prosciutto flat bread and a cheeseburger(which is an awesome deal $ 3.95) Cheers!
