Great staff even though quite a few great people left. It’s nice seeing the whole staff during air show. This club is nice. One can definitely get lost easily here. But they have 3 full bars 3 ballrooms and a pool.:) Food is great Events are pretty organized, they must have a good catering manager Its a pretty venue. Not everyone can get in the base but during events people can get passes if invited, so thats a plus for anyone who hasnt seen this club yet

As being my first time at any of the military officer’s club, this was ok. Happened to be here for an occasion. It can be a bit confusing as to where to go especially if there’s no one to direct you as to where your party is meeting in which room. It would seem there can be as much as 3 different venues going on within the building. The food was ok. Sadly only the caesar salad and bread were the only foods I truly enjoyed to the point I wish we could’ve requested a huge bowl of salad for our table. The chicken for the main course was dry. The carrot cake was yummy but slightly a bit too sweet. Wish the slice wasn’t so big. I ate as much of the food as possible just to not be disrespectful. There should be more than just one bathroom for the entire building. An open bar would’ve been a nice additional feature to have on the weekends. Overall, it’s ok for simplicity.

This place and staff do not disappoint. This will be my 3rd event to host at Miramar Officer’s Club so far. Possibly 3 or 4 more for the year. Great venue and price. Shout out to the entire crew — Heather, Vern, Linda, Faye, Cherise, Fernando, and all.

The O’club is awesome. I came here for a job fair and it went really well! The Officer’s Club is a pretty nice venue with many different rooms, indoor and outdoor. Ladies, great place to meet some few good ones-hard to get into if you don’t have a base decal, but worth it to meet new folks and make friends. Little did you know. you can come in and drink with the service men! Yum! ;)

As a military brat I got to spend some time in Officer’s Clubs around the world and have nothing but fond memories. The one in Panama actually had a smoke filled room with slot machines and they would host bingo days for all the ladies on base. As an 8 year old kid I would get dragged around to these things and one time I won a fishing reel for hitting a bingo. I don’t fish… The Officers Club on Miramar was a different experience for me all together. I am now very much of age and I was attending a wedding for a couple of near and dear friends. The outdoor patio was really nice and there were belly bars set up with a fire pit and a small stage for a couple of guys to play acoustic guitar throughout the night. The bar was to the right hand side of the space while the«ballroom» was dead ahead as you walk through the entry. Being a pretty big crew of drinkers all activity was focused on the bar almost instantly. A line quickly formed and the service was slow but who’s complaining when the drinks are free?! I had not probably waiting and my cocktails were always topped off with a flower on a toothpick. Nice touch! The bar is covered with all kinds of military decorations and it was easy for me to envision a couple of old officers sitting around the old ornate circle table in the middle of the room playing cards and swapping war stories. Rumor has it that a few scenes from Top Gun were filmed in this building but I didn’t recognize anything and Tom Cruise was nowhere to be found. I will keep looking… The ballroom was nice and big and sat 100+ of us with ease. We were only in this room to watch some video and to eat dinner before moving outside to enjoy the cooler nighttime weather and the sing along session of the guys playing acoustically. We were easily able to pop in and out when in need of a plate of meatballs once the buzz really started to kick in. Oh man, those meatballs were good! The staff was awesome and never ran us out of the space. They quietly cleaned up around us and let the party fizzle rather than pulling the plug. Kudos for respecting the bride and groom and not ending their special night abruptly. i am not sure if this place is open to the public but I am tempted to find my way back to see what it is like when not being invaded by a whole crew of professional drinkers with deep seeded roots in Poway. Maybe I will find myself a hot female fighter pilot? A man can dream right?

Please note I speak only of the bar in this review… The bars at the officer’s clubs across Marine Corps installations have been on a decline for a number of years now. One of the primary reasons is that there are simply better places outside the gate that have a better ambiance and social scene. If there was any reason to frequent an officer’s club besides the«mandatory fun» imposed on the staff by the unit commanding officer is the cheap drinks and generally heavy hand of the bartender. At MCAS Miramar’s Officer’s Club the ambiance is pretty nice and there is a lot of outside seating. MCAS Miramar is an air station, so with that being said the décor captures the legacy of both the base and the squadrons that defines its existence. The downfall of the Officer’s Club is that the pricing of drinks equate to equal or more than any establishment outside the gate. Most patrons find themselves at the O’ Club by virtue of being close to the office after work so the majority of the bar business is between the hours of 4 – 7 pm. Unfortunately, the«Happy Hour» will not make any true bargain drinker happy. Perhaps the highlight to happy hour here is the free appetizer bar which generally serves the meatballs, chips and salsa, taquitos(or some close variety of it) and an assorted array of vegetables and cheeses. A draft beer or glass of wine will run in the ball park of four to five bucks on average during the HH time. On a good afternoon there may be a draft or bottle special that is two bucks or so. While the management is always present and willing to jump in when the bar gets busy, the rest of the staff seem like novices in the consolidation of tasks and expediency in preparing drinks. There seems to be a lack of communication and coordination between the bartenders and the bar back. At times there is the lack of timely recognition and an order done promptly during peak hours of bar business. While I am critical of the O’Club, I do enjoy the theme parties that are periodically thrown. At the end of a long work day it is not the O’Club that creates the fun and the memorable moments but the company of friends and cohorts(I mean co-workers) that surround you.

One of my work clients held an event here, and it went really well! The Officer’s Club is a pretty nice venue with many different rooms, indoor and outdoor. It accommodated our group of 250 people very comfortably.

Waitresses: Awesome. Food: Meh. Used to be a lot better; I think kitchen management recently changed. Government run facility; no profit motive – price is good, but you get what you pay for. Could use a bit more attention to detail in the food dept.

This place is cool and casual, and not at all pretentious and stuffy as some people might think of when they hear about the O-club. Very nice staff, patrons are also cool. And they do have some deals from time to time. There are two bars in this joint. Usually one or the other is open. The other is reserved for like fancy officer stuff. First Wednesday’s of the month, there are free hors d’oeuvres and special wine lovers night. Ahhhhh… yeah!!! Can’t beat the free food. Today’s free food included pizza, cheese, fruit and crackers. Again all free!!! It’s not nice to fart in the O-club especially if you’re lactose intolerant. But hey, they serve all that cheese, its bound to happen. They also have several flight wines to choose from. I went by the glass. Started of with a Peach Bellini made of Mionetto il Prosecco sparkling wine, pureed peaches, lemon juice and grenadine. Nice and sweet. Second wine was a Clos du Bois chard from Russian River Valley, CA. This was a little dry for me. And every Friday from 1500 – 1800, all drinks are 50 cents off and certain drinks are only $ 3.50. Lots of military air squadron paraphernalia on the walls. Lots of officer wives congregate here, but no hot single chicks… wtf man? Whatever…I’m here for drinks. Cool anyway.

Love this place! Great décor, outdoor seating w/live bands during happy hours and they even have a dj on some nights. Ladies, great place to meet some few good ones-hard to get into if you don’t have a base decal, but worth it to meet new folks and make friends! They have happy hour with buffet, DJ entertainment and great drink prices($ 3 well drinks, etc.). They’re open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., and Friday from 3 p.m. to midnight.
