Try their duck noodle soup, it was amazing. And the service was also good too. They gave me a huge glass of lemonade. You will never be thirsty there.

Great place for late night eats. They never refuse customers even if they are about to close. I obviously went there like 5 mins before closing and they weren’t one bit mad or upset. They were very nice and welcoming. Food is good.

This place was fine for me at lunch. While it has seafood in the name, the majority of dishes during the day are typical of Chinese/Vietnamese joints in the nabe… noodles/rice/stir fry, etc. — under $ 10. Their seafood dishes seem to be more variable, based on day and the catch, and over $ 10. I had a Chinese beef/rice dish that was pretty simple, decent in taste, and provided leftovers for another meal. No complaints. But I also wasn’t wowed enough to add it to my «must frequent» list. Just decent.

The food sucks so bad The beef strew is so much fat and only one piece of meat and the beef ball soup is too salty

Went here a week ago after a trip to Tiger Tiger. Mind you it was like 11:30 at night and me and my buddy were hungry. Didn’t want a burrito, wanted rice for some reason. Probably my asian-ness was calling. Anyhow, wasn’t expecting much as it was near closing. Gotta say, for some chinese food damn near midnight, it was decent and actually I would go here again. It’s hard to find a kitchen open this late, especially one that isn’t just a bunch of fried stuff, fast food, or crappy stuff. Anyhow, if around the area and want asian food late, give it a try

My four stars are based on the good valued(under 8 bucks) and no-frill lunch set they serve during weekdays. I ordered shrimp(huge and a lot!) chow mien, everything was delicious! Their waiter and waitress were warm and accommodating although they didn’t speak much English. What about other dishes or even dinner… since I am Cantonese I am a bit demanding… the meat(chicken, pork and beef) is always first marinated with baking soda, like most Chinese restaurants do in US, in order to tenderize and preserve it, but I hate that since I can’t detect the freshness but the slightly chemical taste on the meat. Also I feel the tables and chairs kinda sticky. I mean, if I want to spend $$ for a decent dinner, I am afraid it is not a place for me. If I want it(dinner) cheap, I rather stay home then.

This place had a lot of promise(from Unilocal reviews). But I can’t help that my first impression was bad. Parking spots are so narrow I had to back up 3 times. On to the food. Whenever I try a new chinese/asian place, I always get the orange chicken. Because who can mess up orange chicken, right? Well… Let’s just say if I ever come back, I would order pork or noodles. I liked the egg flower soup that came with my lunch combo. So there’s that.

We were looking for a local place where we could get a Chinese«fix» and this place was perfect. It doesn’t look like anything special from the outside but the inside was very comfortable. The food was good, well prepared and they got it out to us very quickly. The prices are reasonable and there was enough left over to take home for lunch the next day. As I said, nothing super special, just good food, reasonably priced.

restaurant: very low end, food: ok or decent, portions: very little for the price, price: to high for the little portion that they serve, in general this poor excuse for a restaurant lacks of good service, the serving portions are of a high end restaurant, i will defenetly not be back to this poor excuse of a bussiness, i don’t recomend anybody to stop by.

We’ve been going here for years. Not the best appearance but always great authentic Chinese food. Food is fairly priced and service is great. The owners are very nice and will always make you feel welcomed. Hope this place stay open for a very long time !!

Maxim’s is an average Chinese family restaurant. It’s not one of those Chinese buffet type restaurant but rather one where you sit and order off the menu. I went there with family last week and we ordered the set dinner for four. At $ 40, it’s a good deal. We got crab & asparagus soup, pork ribs in a sweet/savory sauce, braised fish in a clay pot, and Chinese broccoli. It wasn’t spectacular but it was a very decent meal at a fair price. The place is in a dodgy neighborhood and the restaurant has no atmosphere to speak of in a run down strip mall. But if you’re in the mood for Chinese and are in the neighborhood, it’s not a bad option. I’d go again if I was in the neighborhood and felt like Chinese but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Spicy pork chop Ma po tofu Salt and pepper shrimp Pan fried noodles Must get the above! Definitely mostly long time customers come here, but as a new comer I felt welcomed here. Their broth tastes as good as my grandmas soup. It’s hard to find places with history like this. They can also speak 6 – 7 languages here. They are open late, eat lots!

Craving some chinese food that is… * priced well($ 7−9/dish + includes rice) * open late(midnight) * fast(no frills, but you’ll get your food fast and hot) * clean * located close(city heights) * tastes like chinese food For the chinese fare San Diego has to offer, maxim is recommended. I’m chinese, so this review is legit. Edit: we left our wallet here with DL, CC and $ 60 cash. Came back 12 hours later to claim it and none of it was missing. We attempted to tip them for returning it, and they would not take it. An honest establishment is one we will return to.

4.5 stars for nostalgia. I first came in here for the phở and I never left. Try one of the lunch specials if you’re on the run, 11 – 3. Comes with soup, I always get hot and sour for $ 1 extra. Sometimes I get the egg rolls, which are sometimes perfect, and sometimes soggy and pretty gross. You can also bring the whole family/office etc. They have a wide variety of dishes. Phở, com tan, frog legs, clay pots, roast duck! Which is effn delicious by the way. There’s a visible live tank for giant crabs and lobster. You can come here once a week for a year and try something different. The owners and staff are very nice and welcoming. It gets busy on weekend nights. Nice place to bring a date also cause it won’t break your pockets.

I’ve been trying to find a decent spot for Chinese food in the northpark/city heights area and I thought this place would do it, unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations. They do have A LOT of seating available(2 rooms) and employees seem very friendly. So I ordered the beef chow fun($ 7.99), orange chicken($ 6.99), and egg fried rice($ 5?). So the beef from the noodles tasted alot like a broccoli and beef plate, which was not what I expected. The noodles were REALLY wet, so much that there was nothing but brown water all in the bottom of the plate. The rice was ok, and the chicken was alright as well… damn it I just want some bomb food though!!! Is that so hard to ask? :(

Me: Let’s go to MInh Ky But when we walked over, it was closed. 15 yr old female student: Let’s go to F*(# King! Me: o0? 16 yr old male student: Phở King over their Mr. H LOLLLLLLLL! We then ran into two counselors who were headed to Minh Ky too. Since it was closed, we all came here. I had read Albert W.‘s review a while ago and had bookmarked it try. I’m glad we did. Ms. L speaks Chinese, so she ordered for us. Although, we did get some stares because there were three Mexican students with us. We had the signature grilled pork, very tasty, house noodles, lemon grass chicken, which was really good, salt and pepper fried shrimp, and eggrolls, which Ms. M had a craving for. Everything was really good! This is in a small stripmall and if you didn’t know where you were going, you wouldn’t see it. I’ve driven by it dozens of times and never knew. The prices are pretty reasonable since it was $ 63 for 8 people. Has that family and old school Chinese feel. I will definitely come back since it’s so close to work!
