Last night my fiancé and I went in there to eat before meeting up with my grandparents for pie there. We got there around 6:15pm thinking we would have enoughtime to eat before they arrived. We ordered two salads a cobb and a chicken caesar. It took them over 20 minutes to bring them out to us. Upon starting to eat my caesaer salad the romain was mushy and not just one to two pieces, i ended up taking about half of my salad out and put it on a seperate plate, the waitress asked me if i wanted a new one, at first i was hesitant but ordered a new one hoping it would be better. It was not i ended up just asking for a box to take It home. Afterwards we had pie with my grandparents, the pie was pretty good had some soggy crust but other than that was fine. We will definitely not be going back.

My wife and I were out running errands all morning and we skipped breakfast, so we decided to go to Marie Callender’s for lunch. It was my first time at Marie Callender’s, however, my wife is a regular here. I’ve always tried the Marie Callender’s frozen potpie from the grocery stores but I never tried the homemade potpie. My wife read over the potpie she said it was amazing so I decided to give it a try. My wife got the small potpie and I got the large one because I did not know how much food it would be, but the potpies were more than enough for my wife and me. We were unable to finish halfway through our pot pies. The Popeyes were delicious and more than enough. My wife and I decided that next time we come here that we will share a large pot pie. I would have given displays five stars because the food was great and the atmosphere is amazing, but the waitress that we had was a bit rushed and the place was not busy at all. There was literally four people eating in the restaurant. She was slow to take our order and we literally had to wait over 30 minutes to get our check after we waved her down and she seen us. Other than that it was a great experience and I will go back.

I’ve been to Marie Callendars over the last 25 years and have loved it. Food is always good and reminescent of something grandma made. I used to frequent the brunch and remember the made to order omelets and amazing banana fosters. But it has gone down hill. This last trip was very disappointing. I went on this last Sunday for brunch and to celebrate my engagement with my family and new in laws. I suggested the brunch since it would have something for everyone. Unfortunately the bacon was the burnt greasy crisps at the bottom, the dishes were not refreshed and the OJ was so empty we only got 2 cups and it was never refilled. The omelettes were still good and the banana fosters were still great. Our waitress was good. But it was sure disappointing and actually a little embarrassing with the new in laws. Go to Great Maple, Hash House, Urban Solace or even Ihop for a better brunch.

Chicken pot pie is perfect here. Several desert pies to choose from, Happy hour menu and cold beer, fast service and super cool bar tenders make this place for me. Nice little bar that is not crowded during Sun-Thurs, One wierd thing is the manager always looks pissed and has that… «I wish I was anyplace but here» look, but the bartenders are cool. Not 100% on the fish or sea food. Had to send it back once and got sick another time. Hint: stick with the pot pie, desert pie and ice cold brewski.

One of my co-worker’s favorite things is Rhubarb Pie. Marie Callendar’s is the only place I can find that makes them! We always pick it up for him on his birthday. I called and asked them to hold one for me to pick up the next day on my way to work. We served it in the afternoon and sang happy birthday to him. After he took his first bite he had to run out of the room to the bathroom. It made him sick. The whole pie was rotten. I called and asked to speak to a Manager to let them know that the batch of Rhubarb Pie they have has gone bad. The Manager I spoke with was unapologetic. I also could not get his name as I could not understand what he was saying. Very disappointed. We have been getting pie here for over 5 years.

Theresa, our waitress, did a wonderful job serving us. The chili and cornbread is absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back(:

Last year on Thanksgiving we decided to be lazy and have someone else make dinner for us. A few weeks prior, we had stopped into MC for lunch and saw fliers that they were offering both dine-in & takeout for Thanksgiving dinner, so we figured we’d give them a try. We opted for takeout, and were pleasantly surprised by how organized things were set up for such a high-traffic day. They had a separate entrance for take-out orders, the staff were friendly & looked to be running like a well-oiled machine; they even had complimentary drinks out for patrons while they waited for their orders. The process was remarkably well executed. The food? Not so much. What we thought was going to be a smug feeling of «we’re so clever! There’s no cooking, no cleaning, and we can sit our asses in front of the tv while we have dinner!» quickly turned into sad disappointment as we opened our white styrofoam containers. Although I’ll give them props for not serving up some processed turkey-like loaf product, the real turkey was dry and flavorless. They had pretty much all the Turkey Day standard sides accounted for; however, there was maybe 2 tablespoons of each item, and all of them were maybe a half step up from a frozen Swanson dinner. Obviously it’s not reasonable to expect a 5-star takeout turkey dinner from a chain restaurant, but I was still surprised and let down given the price point. Overall it was kinda depressing having such sub-par food on a special holiday… especially knowing the rest of my family(who live in MA) were dining on my mom’s amazing Thanksgiving fare. Sorry, Marie; I’m sure you’re a swell gal and all, but we won’t be going back to your place for any more holidays.

We came here to celebrate my sisters mother-n-laws bday and boy was I in for a surprise! I ordered wine that tasted like water, it was so bad I returned it! The food was«buffet all you can eat» quality and it smelled inside the restaurant like humid. Nothing good or tasty here, not even the pie!

We wanted to eat at a salad bar so we stopped at Marie Callenders for lunch. I don’t think this is much of a salad bar compared to others. It just isn’t as good as it used to be. The cornbread is still excellent and the TriTip /Wedge salad meal is actually very good. Of course you could treat yourself to one of their wonderful pies. I don’t think anyone makes pies as well as they do. There muffins are also wonderful and we got great service also.

Order the ribs and shrimp dinner. First of all there were not as many shrimp as in the picture on the menu. Second the picture is big beef ribs and the waitress when asked said they’re beef ribs. But when they came out they were little and pork. When we re-asked the waitress she said they were beef but when we sent her to the kitchen to ask they said they were pork now. We don’t like pork but no alternative was given. My friend ordered the BBQ platter. When it came out there were three little chicken patties and she actually said this is what I serve the kids on Wednesday. She is a lunch lady. We spent way too much money for non appetizing meals. Very disappointed :(

When I’m looking for a filling breakfast dish, I come here! I absolutely love the hashers and my family love their butter milk pancakes! I have not had the pleasure to dine in yet, but I’m sure the experience is nice considering the ambiance the restaurant has. Very relaxing environment.

I have not been to Marie Callender’s in YEARS! So one of my girlfriends wanted to have brunch in Coronado(but due to the run/walk) I already knew traffic was going to be a nightmare. So we both agreed on something cheap and close to our homes. Marie Callender’s it is! Be aware that you need to come here early because it does get crowded from families coming here after church on a Sunday. We were immediately greeted and seated coming in at around 10am. I did not know this, but there are two sides. One side of the brunch buffet has soups and salads and the other end is where all the goodies are. Omelets station made when ordered, a carving station, also a bunch of trays full of bacon, potatoes, sausages, eggs benedict, fruit, desserts and a waffle station! They also have juices on the side. Two free complementary glasses of champagne! Over all this brunch is not horrible for about $ 15/person.

I had a reservation for 8 people this past Tuesday and made the reservation weeks ago. We were celebrating the end of our graduate program and were enjoying our time together when the manager came in at 6pm and said, «Just to let you know we have a reservation at 6:30pm, so if you could pay so we can have this table cleared ready, that would be great». We were all completely shocked, especially because she didn’t even assess the situation or ask our server before approaching us. If she did speak with our server beforehand, she would have known we paid and were waiting for our check back. After we have waited so patiently for our food and check, especially when the restaurant was close to empty, you have the audacity to say that?! We really wanted to enjoy our time together, especially because the 8 of us will never be in the same place at the same time again, but instead, we were rushed out. The fact that she had the nerve to tell us that was really a turn off. Also, right after she said that, an army of Marie Calendar employees came into the room and started moving tables. Two of the gentlemen hit one of the tables into the wall, chipping off part of the wall, which then bounced off the wall into the back of my friends chair. They continued to do their thing and didn’t even apologize. We walked out of the room we were eating in to see so many open tables that could have fit large parties. I was really dissatisfied with the experience we had.

Marie Callender’s is not really my cup of tea with respect to dining, I usually just go here for the pie… This was a special circumstance in which we were hosting a large group event and MC’s staff performed flawlessly in nearly all facets. They had a fantastic buffet setup for 40 people, complete with hot items such as turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies, cornbread and beef. They also had cold items such as Caesar salad, bread, pie and soft drinks. The overall vibe of this particular location was awesome, the price was extremely reasonable and the service was nearly perfect. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking at hosting a large party or just craving some pie. Pros– Service Price Large part accommodations Promptness Freshness Arcade games in waiting area! Cons– Location difficult to find

Marie Callender’s is not usually a place I think of when I’m hungry, but a couple days ago I HAD to have a pot pie. It was a serious need. I didn’t WANT a pot pie, i REQUIRED a pot pie — to sustain my life. This was a very urgent matter. So logically, I Unilocaled places to obtain such a necessity and ta da — Marie Callender’s of course. I have to have veggies in my pie, it’s my favorite part(besides the crust) — so this was the natural winner. I went on the website just to peruse the pies and confirm the hours — and discovered something incredible. wait, no. it’s good. THEYHAVE A MINIPOTPIEDEAL! shut up — listennnnnnnn 1 mini chicken pot pie(PERFECTSIZE), a salad & a slice of PIE! REALDELICIOUSPIE(i chose coconut cream because i know how to have a good time)!(and when i got there they even gave me a fatty slice of corn bread!!!) FOR $ 9.99. STOPIT! Maybe my life is pitiful, but this, my friends, was the most joyus moment of my entire week. I smiled with every delicious bite. It was so satisfying. My life is complete. My heart is full. Everything is beautiful.

I got a slice of pie about three bites it was almost like a micromini slice of pie compared to what you would get at extraordinary desserts or babycakes or any other dessert place. I got it to go so when I was home I was shocked when I saw it. the service is very good they made a mistake on my salad I said no onions they put onions on it but they brought a new one without onions and it was good My recommendation would be to get an entrée but don’t get dessert.

I’ve tried the frozen Marie Calendar pot pies before and for some reason I was craving it a lot so I decided why not try the real deal? I came all the way from Sorrento Valley for the pot pie! I arrived at 10:30 and I didn’t know they didn’t serve it for breakfast which ended at 11. Boo. Thankfully one was done early which was so nice of them! The pot pie was very hot, I was so excited I burned my tongue but it was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was $ 12.99! I think it was worth it I suppose. My boyfriend got an omelette and he said it was way better than Broken Yolk. Everyone was very sweet and welcoming.

Took my mom out here over the weekend to catch up with my aunt who was in town. No pies, just breakfast… I went with the Señor Ortega Hasher(hash browns, scrambled eggs, chorizo, pico de gallo, jalapeño-jack cheese, and topped with two big Ortega chiles) with a side of sourdough toast and wild berry jam. This wasn’t too bad — I had to dice the chiles up, but otherwise the dish wasn’t too spicy. My mom ordered the Veggie Hasher(hash browns, scrambled eggs, a mix of fresh seasonal vegetables and cheddar, jack and swiss cheeses) with a side of pancakes. Her order was definitely the healthiest of ours, and while she got filled up, she brought the pancakes home. As for my aunt, she went with their French Toast combo(two eggs and French toast with sausage, though you could also have it with bacon). She wasn’t too disappointed with her meal. There were plenty of menu items I would’ve liked to try, but seeing those prices — yikes! And the caloric counts… I know it’s necessitated by law to have them posted, but geez! You’ll get a heart attack just by looking at the menu! Maybe that’s why I noticed that the patrons were a bit on the older side — hope there’s a defibrillator handy in case they stroke out. As a restaurant, I observed that the place has a rustic look, though it wasn’t exactly full when we came in. Maybe that’s because DZ Akins is nearby… Overall, not that bad, but not that great either. Can’t see myself coming out of the way to come here on a regular basis.
