So far, the best Taco Shop I have been to. They have a fresh salsa bar with different salsas… mild to hot depending on your taste. Personnel is very attentive and helpful. Extensive menu from rolled tacos, burritos, enchiladas, soups, seafood, fresh fruit, desserts, frozen drinks like chamangos, fountain drinks and beer. Serving portions feed two people… they are huge! Consider sharing :) unless you are very hungry lol Place looks clean and festive.

Every thing on their menu is delicious! I can’t even say what my favorite menu item is because I always try different things. Food tastes great and fresh. Only thing I hate is the parking! But it’s worth waiting for a parking spot. And their customer service has always been great, too.

As good as it gets! Lupe“s Taco Shop catered our Taco Tuesday night here at Broadstone Corsair Apartments this past Tue. and I believe I sampled just about everything they had to offer. It was incredible! Not just my opinion… everybody around me was saying the same thing. And I heard comments from other residents that missed out… they were so sorry after all the positive feedback they’d heard about Lupe’s Taco Shop catered event. So, today being Friday… I took a couple of guys from my team and an office co-worker and we went to visit Lupe’s Taco Shop in person… just to make sure it was the real deal as it was last Tue. night. It’s the real deal… do yourself a culinary favor and go visit Lupe’s Taco Shop and find out for yourself. By the way… for the record… it’s all fresh ingredients.

Lupe’s was a recommendation from my dad, who is not necessarily a Mexican food connoisseur. My boyfriend kept pleading with me to go to this place after my dad told him about the carne asada friends that came with a tortilla. YOUWRAPTHELEFTOVERFRIESINTHETORTILLATOMAKE A CALIFORNIABURRITOWHENYOU’REDONEWITHTHEFRIES. Say whaaaaaat?! And that we did. How funny that we could finish off an entire plate of fries after rolling it into a burrito! I can’t comment on anything else because we’ve only had the fries. By the way, the fries itself are crispy and flavorful, which is different from all the over carne asada fries we’ve gotten around town. The ONLY reason it’s not 5 stars is because when we went around 7pm, they were already starting to clean up and spraying the tables and chairs with a spray with a strong scent, which made me sneeze a bunch of times while eating my food. But at least I know those tables and chairs are clean!

Been here many times mostly for breakfast burritos. They are always pretty good-no complaints there. My issue is the man at the counter… Always same guy in the mornings. Not nice… not friendly. and I always feel I’m somehow bothering him to place my order. No kindness or smiles from the front counter. Food is good… so 2⁄4 for customer service. Be a little nicer please, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Easily my favorite taco shop. I used to live close to this place, but now I drive around 20 minutes just for this place. I always order a Veggie Supreme burrito or the Combination #3(two cheese enchiladas with rice and beans) because I don’t really eat meat. These options are so good for someone who eats mostly vegetarian. My boyfriend especially likes the food here and frequently orders the Carne Asada Burrito, Combination #5(two chicken enchiladas with rice and beans) or the California CK Burrito. It’s definitely an authentic taco shop. AND if you want the best Acai Bowl of your LIFE then you need to come here. The staff is always very attentive and friendly over the phone and in person. Also they have a great selection of salsas! Seriously we love this place and now we get to live close again and my dreams have been made because I could eat here every single day.

I had to drive to National City for work and as I was driving there a friend of mine told me to pick up some burritos at this joint. I had extremely high expectations given some of the reviews but I was somewhat disappointed. There isn’t anything too special about this place(at least to me).

Waited like 10 mins on my damn burrito. I saw the wrapped up burrito sitting on the counter as the lady bypassed it several times until I went to go ask If that was my order and they’re like no its for another order as it was unwrapped and put in someone else’s plate. They couldn’t find my order so they asked for my receipt so I showed it to them that’s when they realized they fucked up so they tried to give me the same burrito that was sitting there now unwrapped and on a plate for somebody else probably all cold now… really? Gtfoh… couldn’t even offer to make me a new one or anything. Asked for my money back and left and the cashier was more than happy to give it to me cus she looked bothered by me rejecting the burrito and asking for my money… thanks for wasting my 30 min lunch break… last time I go there.

Un asco el caldo de res y sin carne. Un asco el bano y mal comentario de parte del encargado de el personal de cocina cuando hacen un platillo incorrecto. No recomendable. — This place is a total bust. I do not recommend. The manger was extremely rude and handled the food with poor hygiene.

I love this place. One of my favorite taco shops in San Diego! I always come here when I’m home from college to get food and chamango. Everything is good here and the workers are very friendly.

Great food! We had a feast of almost everything on the menu. The Carne Asada fries were amazing, the TJ style tacos were great, the rolled to lacks were very good, and to be able to enjoy it with a beer was great! I usually don’t like to go anywhere else besides my normal SD taco shops, but was quite happy that I strayed away and tried Lupes. I will definitely be back for more.

Wow I am very impressed with the kind of food they serve here. I am 100% Mexican and let me tell you if your looking for authentic Mexican food come check this place out. From the people to the food I am giving this place 5 starts which I rarely do. Today I ordered the Cheetos burrito, crazy huh? Well it was amazing, the crunch just made it even more special. The menu is very large, too many options for me to be able to eat all while visiting. Carne Asada has a lot of flavor! They also have direct tv Spanish to watch all soccer game! Ps: free chip bag for Unilocalers check in!

We’ve come to this Mexican joint many times. I’m surprised I don’t have a review for this place. The food here is decent and they have fruit options(and acai) as well, which is cool. Came here on Halloween with my God Daughter and a few other peeps for a pre Trick or Treat meal. We ended up getting: 4 mini carne asada tacos, 1 Hot Cheetos burrito, and 1 California burrito, all to go so we could go to the Halloween festival at the high school across the way. Our burritos were finished in a timely manner(within 7 – 10 minutes), but for some unknown reason, they took a long time to make our mini tacos. I’m pretty certain they lost our food slip or accidentally gave our tacos to someone else because it took another 8 – 10 minutes to get our carne asada tacos. Service: 2⁄5 Food– Tacos: 4⁄5(they were hot, fresh, and tasty) Food-Burritos: 2.5÷5(okay only because hot Cheetos and fries lost their crispness) Atmosphere: 4⁄5(clean restaurant and we liked that they were festive with Halloween décor). Although I had a bad experience that night, when I take my past experiences into account, I’m going to rate the place 3.5÷5.

I’ve been here a couple times. Usually, when I have a craving for a burrito or roll tacos. Their California burrito is decent and roll tacos hit the spot every time. Today, I ordered a machaca and Lupe’s breakfast burrito. The machaca burrito was good according to my friend. My breakfast burrito sucked! I pretty much got a machaca burrito with out the meat. And I know they most have cooked everything together because some of my egg had meat from the machaca. I paid almost 6 dollars for an egg burrito. Such a disappointment. Next time I have a craving I’ll just drive south and go somewhere better.

So my friend kept raving about this place, and he talked so highly of their Micheladas lol, so I finally caved in, and it was not a disappointment ! The LUPEFRIES were amazing ! It’s like carneasada fries, but on steroids. They used crispy seasoned fries and all the usually toppings like guacamole, sour cream, and cheese over a giant fluffy tortilla ! Who thought of this??? It’s genius ! Michelada was the bomb ! Who doesn’t love a beer cocktail ?! Get it with dos Equis if you’re like me, and like it a bit stronger than just a watered down corona. Micheladas are like heaven for me lol. A spicy, salty, carbonated, and compliments Mexican food very well !

I ordered a potato taco, a CA burrito w no guac and a bean and cheese burrito. Potato Taco — YUM! one of the best i have ever had! The potatoes were a great flavor and had some pepper and were also crispy, it had cheese and then some cotija cheese on top. yum! CALI Burrito — i asked for no guac and no pico. i got the order to go and when my order was ready i left, brought the food to a friends and then when we opened the food, the burrito was full of guac and pico. I called Lupes and told them they told me to come back with the burrito and they will swap it for the right one. I went back, they had the burrito ready but did not offer any compensation or free anything for the time and hassle of going back. PLACE– a bigger taco shop, nice and clean from what i saw Other– they offer fresh fruit and acai bowls which isnt normal for a taco shop but nice that it is offered.

This place is bomb. I love the carne asada fries and hot cheetos burrito omg so filling. The cooks are amazing. My go to place when I’m in San Diego. I love their salsa bar, and the selection they have. You can tell the sauces are made fresh. They have plastic baggies where you can put your carrots and jalapeños etc. Hand sanitizer is by the door.

Found a dead spider in my fish taco. I messaged them on Unilocal and their website to let them know. The food was good, especially the salsa and carnitas taco but… knowing there was a dead spider in my food completely turned me off. This was my first time going there too and probably my last. I hate bugs. I can deal with a little hair or something but spider… no way. Sorry Lupes. Edit, owner responded with a sincere apology which I appreciated very much. Maybe I’ll give Lupes another shot in the future.

I came to Lupe’s for lunch after visiting my sister at Sharp hospital a few blocks away. She had double-bypass surgery. It really puts things in perspective. So much so, that I didn’t feel like ordering my normal carne asada fries… so, i got it without sour cream. See, healthier choices! The long drive from San Jose to San Diego really made me hungry. I left at 3am and didn’t get in until 10am. After an hour with my sister, I realized I needed to eat something. I Unilocaled what was in the area and saw Lupe’s. One of the things I miss about living in the Bay Area now is all the good Mexican food from San Diego. My favorites were carne asada fries, carne asada/california burritos, chicken tortas, rolled tacos, chimichangas… who am I kidding, everything on the menu were my favorites. Anyway, I went with a slight variation of the carne asada fries this time. It was called Sunrise Fries. It’s like carne asada fries, but it also adds eggs, bacon and a special sauce. It was magical! I mean, adding bacon and eggs to anything will make it better. Except your cholesterol levels. I’ve also tried the carnitas and carne asada street tacos and those are pretty good, too. That’s 2 for 2 for Lupe’s. Can’t wait to make it 3 for 3. But, hopefully under better circumstances!

Went to grab some breakfast here. I had the chicken asada fries. I was so disappointed in this place. We decided to take our food to go & eat it at the play ground at Fashion Valley mall. I took a bite & the fries were soggy and not fully cooked. The chicken was flavorful but dry. I was digging deeper & found a piece of something hard. It wasn’t food. Gross! I stopped eating it after I found that piece in my food. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. The lady at the register kept staring at me! Really? Lady also didn’t know how to punch in the code for our coupon. You would think it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. One table wasn’t cleared off. Gross! I’m not returning to this place ever!
