Stopped by here on a recent trip to Rancho Bernardo to pick up a few Snacks and Bottles of Water. There’s a dive bar down the shopping mall where I went to shoot some pool. My only visit here, not bad. Will I return? Not unless I’m back in the area.

This store is the worst. There are 3 or 4 people working here usually. I have gone there and there was a huge line. Do they open up a another register? Of course not. Oh if you are in a hurry don’t go here. Old woman come here with a million of coupons and write checks. Also the old people always seem to argue about prices. There is one good thing about this store, they always have sales. Good prices on beer.

I am glad we have this neighborhood convenience store. I normally find what I need here at the time, be it milk or an odd-ball item like children’s ouch-less hairbands for my daughter’s thin hair. I was stoked and relieved to find bamboo skewers last night around 9:40pm, about 20 minutes before closing time. I needed the skewers to make my BBQ grilling offering for a friend’s birthday potluck today. Sometimes check-out service can be slow, but it was quick this last time. I actually enjoy shopping their interesting selection of food items stocked on several 4-sided display shelf units in the middle of the store. On the east side of the store, they have a peculiar small section of Hawaiian food products. Here’s a sampler: — Aloha Shoyu _½ gallon(regular, lower salt, and BBQ). $ 4.99 for regular and lower salt, $ 6.59 for BBQ. _32 fl oz: guava pineapple teriyaki glaze, $ 7.29 _24 fl oz: BBQ $ 2.79, lower salt & regular $ 2.99, teriyaki sauce-Hawaiian style — Huli-Huli sauce $ 5.49 — Hawaiian sea salt, 1 and 2 lb bags, incl red Alea/Alaea salt — Ono brand Hawaiian seasoning It’s a somewhat detailed list which I had sent to a relative who is the chef/owner of an French-Asian restaurant. Aloha Shoyu is his soy sauce of choice given his past experience living in Maui and working at the Hyatt Grand Wailea Resort, but he was looking for the gallon size. It’s a little inconvenient that they aren’t open 24 hours, but this is acceptable for this part of town.(A littler further away, the centrally-located Bernardo Center Drive CVS/Pharmacy, formerly Sav-On Drugs, is where I go for pharmacy needs because it is open 24 hours.)
