My family has been eager to try Lapperts for months. Finally made it in and ordered their dole whip, Mint chip, guava cheesecake and chocolate ice cream. Everything was delicious. However, customer service was awful. If your friend comes to visit you at work, you stop chatting while serving the customer-it’s that simple.

I can’t believe I no longer have to go to Disneyland for dole whip now! This place is clean, beautifully decorated, and features some of the best ice cream I have ever had. To be honest, I am not big on sweets, but I found Lapperts to have the perfect balance of creamy and sweet ice cream. You HAVE to get the lychee ice cream with a shot of dole whip. The lychee and pineapple combination is delicious! I promise you will not regret it. Now, I no longer need to drive 1.5 hours to satisfy my dole whip craving. I will be coming back very soon!

Two words. Dole Whip. They’ve got it. I opted for the Dole Whip Float and it brought me right back to that Dole Plantation on Oahu. Sweet, cool, and refreshing. The place is small and strangely has alcohol ads plastered in the back. If you ask for the small Dole Whip and you want a cone, they’ll put it in a cup and put a small cone on top. They’ve also got a bunch of different Hawaiian ice cream flavors(think macadamia nut, kona coffee, etc.), giving you that Hawaiian ice cream parlor feel in a suburban shopping center. Overall, come for the Dole Whip!

Pistachio and Jamaican Coconut were amazing! Went here for a fun birthday party. Loved the flavor creamy texture and indulgent flavor. Some were already sold out by the end of the day. Will need to come earlier to try the Kona coffee flavor next time. Came back a second time with a pint of the Coconut ice cream to enjoy at home!

WOW. Simply amazing. I’ve had Lappert’s in Hawaii a few years ago and decided to try this one during a hot day. I was surprised how no customer was there but I guess we happened to go in at the right time. The environment: super clean, great chair/table design, and a TV showing ESPN. The ice cream: SO much selection! The guy helping us let us try as many as we wanted, which I think is only right considering some flavors people may never have had. I got the Loco Coco, which any coconut lover would die for! Friend got the White Chocolate which was creamy and not overwhelmingly sweet. Out of the ordinary: this one offers Dole Whip. If you’ve gone to Disneyland you probably have seen a few dozen of these delightful treats. It has a pineapple sorbet taste and WOW it is phenomenal. Definitely worth sharing a small with a friend too!

The tropical flavors are so fun. The ice cream is tart, sweet and creamy. I’ve also had the dole whip cones and they’re great for the summer but it’s the guava cheesecake that keeps me coming back. I really hope they continue serving single scoops! Great ice cream is hard to find!

I like the Dole Whip float and the many tropical fruit flavors(which includes guava, mango, lychee…). My husband is not a fan though. He says the owner/manager/cashier does not give the receipts. Response to company: Thank you for your dedication to preserving the environment. I am unsure as to your explanation, however, if a walk-in retail customer is to shoulder the cost of having a receipt emailed to them or if the cost pertains to online clients. Either way, the cost of your company’s decision to «green up» your business practice seems to have been passed on to the consumer. There are other businesses that offer the same service without the additional cost. Of course, I have no inside knowledge of what it takes to put this plan into action. Your company might have a good reason for charging the extra $ 2.50 for emailng a receipt. Also, I hope this observation is taken in the spirit that it is given; kindly do not put the burden on the consumer to ask for a receipt. A business is supposed to provide one. Perhaps, instead of putting it on the consumer, the business employee is the one to ask the customers if they want a receipt. Again thank you, and I wish your company the best!

It’s a little out of the way from civiliation but I will drive comfortable to find a dole whip outside of Disneyland. What? Yes, I wrote that. That’s all you need to know. Being out of the way, it’s not so crowded and what’s nice is the ice creams are not so typical and tropical with a few favorites. Lapperts is Hawaiian in origin. Why three stars? I have to drive to the far reaches of Scripps Poway! hahah

Came in after a long Mountain Woodson hike in search of the Dole Whip. I knew they had it on the menu, but was not aware that it was the authentic version sold at Disneyland. Unlike Walt’s place however, Lappert’s offers a small and large size. Get the large one. Happy 2016.

If you are a fan of disney dole whip float then they is the place to go. The only thing I get here is their dole whip. It takes around 5 mins for them to make it but its so worth your time! Surprising the small size is pretty large. Definitely sharable size. It has a light, smooth pineapple flavor. Prefect for hot day in San Diego.

Come here for the dole whip ! Not as airey as Disneyland but it’ll hit the stop when you’re fiending for that fix ! Aside from that they do a stellar job with their other ice cream flavors. Location is a bit out of the way, tucked deep in scripps ranch but well worth the drive ! Waffles are made fresh on the spot for you and they’re more than happy to let you sample as many flavors as you’d like.

Okay friends. Any place that sells Dole Whip for 1⁄3 the price of Disneyland has to be great right? I have fond memories of Lappert’s both in LAX Airport and in Hawaii. If you have never tried their rainbow sorbet, it is the best in the world. Swirled pineapple, guava and passionfruit! YESPLEASE! Now the Dole Whip. Each one take about 3 – 4 minutes to make. And if they have to reset the machine this can take up to 10 minutes. But it is so worth it. For $ 2.59, you get a sky high serving of Dole Whip. And if you have never had DW, it is pineapple served like soft serve. Now being a good Unilocaler, I wanted to take pictures. But apparently you can’t and when I asked why, I wasn’t given a very good explanatkion. In fact, my husband and I were more confused after the explanation. Go there for the DW. It is worth it and cheaper than a small ice cream. But their ice cream is so good too!

I can enjoy a dole whip in town now without having to travel Disneyland and wait in line for hours for this sweet and tarty treat. It was rainy and cold last Sunday and yeah I wanted dessert! There was no line and no customers. Woohoo lucky us. I tried a few ice cream flavors and got the kaluah truffle and shared the dole whip. Both very good! Will come back for more and take a pint to go next time. They have so many exciting flavors to try.

The ice cream was worth digging through the promotional mumbo jumbo throughout and the pretentious service. The Pineapple soft serve is truly a treat that I crave, but the experience overall wasn’t a five star situation. I truly wish I could give two reviews, one 5 stars for the sweets, and then a less than stellar rating for the rest — so middle of the road is what I’ll rate for now and further explain below. The Great: –I was told that they do not have any other soft serve than the dole whip. Really, it’s so fantastic they could JUST do that and probably be busy all day anyways, but they do offer other hard ice cream options. –They obviously work hard to preserve their brand and are committed to quality. I applaud that. –They offer what looks to be amazing coffee(I would have got some if I had felt at all welcome there, see below) The Not So Great –Every award they’ve gotten, press or interviews is right in your face, NO pictures are allowed inside and the gentleman that helped me was incredibly pretentious. I started to ask a few questions — and he spoke to me in such a condescending way as if I should KNOW all about how great they are before I even walked in the door. After waiting awhile to try it and really looking forward to it, and despite the truly awesome Dole Whip, it did sour my experience. I watched him be rude to the two customers after me while waiting for my Dole Whip(it took a few minutes to make). They were also new to the place and he had no patience for that. –Upon arrival on a Friday around 4pm, I entered to a smokey room not realizing they have a fog machine in doors. Rather than being cool and like an ice cream heaven, it was overly done and really distracting. I wanted to learn all about the offerings, but with the scoffing attitude and the smoke, I was really just motivated to get my dole whip and get out of there. I sat in my car and really enjoyed what I had purchased, but honestly have not been back since, even though I drive past it almost every day AND loved the product– the overkill ice cream gods vibe and the unwelcome feeling has kept me away. I’m sure the craving will win one day, and if they come off remotely friendly, I’d happily give another star.

Once again my nephew treated us to another«must try» place in San Diego! We were ready for some dessert after having a great meal elsewhere, and ended up at Lapperts Ice Cream & Coffee Lounge. He recommended that we try the Dole Whip which is some sort of pineapple frozen dessert that has become a local favorite and was originally made popular in Hawaii and at Disneyland. I had never heard of it before, but apparently this is THE place to go for authentic and«true to it’s flavor» Dole Whip. I couldn’t help thinking it was probably pineapples with whipped cream on top, but nothing could be further from my boring imagination! Upon our arrival I could tell this was a popular spot as patrons hung out on the comfortable looking front patio area. I walked in and immediately noted that this attractive and trendy place is not your average ice cream parlor. There were so many delicious sounding flavors to select, from traditional ice cream to some unique and exotic tropical blends. It all looked so good, but since we were here for Dole Whip, my curiosity kicked in and I decided if I don’t try it now, I may never have the chance again! There are several different ways of ordering the Dole Whip as either on it’s own or combined with other ingredients. I kept it simple and ordered a small Dole in a container, in which the man helping us mentioned that it wasn’t quite frozen enough yet and that I would have a short wait until it was ready. As he helped others with their ice cream selections, I started Unilocaling in my head and took some photos for my review. Eventually, he proceeded to go into what humorously looked like he had to make it in a secret back room and kept the door shut so that people couldn’t see how it was made. I guessed because of it’s originality, few places are allowed to have the secret recipe. But there’s nothing wrong with that in my book! When he brought my Dole Whip out, I was pleasantly surprised at how large a small was! And yes, it was very good! It had a light, smooth and subtle pineapple flavor that was satisfying to eat! It looked like vanilla ice cream but with a more tangy flavor. When we finished our desserts, I noticed that a sign was out front by the entrance stating that no photo taking was allowed inside! Oops! Too late for me, but it looks like other Unilocalers had done the same. It occurred to me that this was probably meant to protect their star attraction — the infamous Dole Whip! I would love to have it again, if I didn’t live so far away!

My absolute favorite ice cream place in San Diego. They have unique ice cream flavors and for the size of their treats, the prices are very reasonable. Also DOLEWHIP. Skip the expensive and overcrowded trip to disneyland and get your pineapple craving cured here. I also think their dole whip is also a bit creamier and cheaper than disney’s. My go to flavors of ice cream are guava cheesecake(if you like pink guava you should try this!), macadamia nut(think a macadamia version of butter pecan, also they are super generous with the amount of macadamia nuts in the ice cream), and lychee(with real lychee bits!). I’ve also enjoyed their green tea in the past. Also you can also get it in a sugar/cake cone for free instead of a cup.

I love having a Lapperts fairly close to my house. There isn’t even many of these across SoCal, so we blessed in the Scripps Poway area. It’s seriously in a terrible location, and I’m surprised how any of those places are still in business. I love Lapperts is because they have an amazing selection of Hawaiian flavors! My favorite is the regular Mac nut. Then they have a really good green tea and a decent mango. I feel like they a bit on the pricy side, 2 double scoop waffle cones will set you back $ 15, but the quality is always worth it and they’re generous with the size. Customer service is whatever, it’s always dead when I go so they probably are always bored lol. Check this place out though for great ice cream!

Lapperts has recently become my favorite ice cream shop in San Diego because of the the cookies n cream and cookie dough combo flavor. It’s a bright blue that resembles cookies monster so you can’t miss it. Basic but sooooo divine. I loved the Oreo chunks with the cookie dough taste. You can’t go wrong with the flavors here considering the quality. I am also fond of the mango flavor if you’re looking for something more tart. Dole whip is also served here — another plus. You can get 2 scoops for $ 5 which isn’t bad at all. Prices are friendly. Please open more locations :)

A couple of my friends and I came here for some ice cream after a hike. Luckily there was no line! I got the Manila Mango Dole Whip. Reminds me of Disneyland! So refreshing after a hike. The pineapple dole whip is an exact replication of Disneyland. The mango ice cream was very rich in taste. It was good but it was a bit too sweet because there was quite some syrup on it. Service was quick and friendly! There are enough seatings indoors and outdoors. There are sofas for the outdoor seatings which I thought was nice.

Went here for some dole whip. I also saw so many flavors of ice cream such as guava cheesecake, cotton candy, and so much more. I wanted to try the dole whip since they don’t have dole whip at the Vegas location. The dole whip was so good! Perfect on a hot day like today. This was my first time at this location. They open at 11:30 on Saturday. We waited for 15 minutes but it was worth the wait. There is a small parking lot in front. The location was clean and in the back ground you can hear trans music and techno beats. Feels like you just want to dance. The guy working behind the counter was cool and managed to serve everyone coming in. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. If you want to throw your cups away, there is a trash can outside. I thought it was funny how there was a sign saying no photography. I ended up taking photos of my dole whip and a photo of my daughter’s cotton candy ice cream. She loved it! We will be back!
