The best pizza around here. Real pizza dough, just like you get in Italy. Just perfect. Also, they’re pasta dishes are quite good and very reasonably priced.

My hubs and I walked past this place to get to our parking spot, and the smell was irresistible. We looked at each other, and we ditched our Mexican food craving for the Italian one. It was around 10pm, and we sat outside next to the heated lamp. The server brought us bread right away, and asked if we wanted to lower the temperature of the outside lamp we could. The gentlemen that served us were courteous, prompt, friendly, and had super groovy vibes. And then the food came. MIND-BLOWN. We had the salsiccia de Zola. It was delicious! I only wish we took a picture. 100% recommend this restaurant.

This is one the most amazing Italian restaurants on the west coast that I have been to. The pizza is amazing. I do wish they served balsamic vinegar and olive oil with their bread. They are happy to provide if you ask. Our kids loved the spaghetti and pizza

The food was good and the service was even better. I had a birthday dinner here and Giuseppe(I hope that’s how you spell it) was more than accommodating. I’ll definitely go back again.

Excellent cozy ambience, very conveniently located in the heart of hillcrest, and most of all very thoughtfully prepared«flavorful» meals. If there is one thing I can say about this place, it’s that this place knows how to add flavor to food. Their bruschetta caprese and spaghetti aglio olio are outstanding!

Love this restaurant! The bread is authentic and delicious. Pizza out of this world good. The pastas are fresh and light — not at all heavy. I love the linguine with clams, polenta, salmon salad, and of course the pizzas!

My girlfriend and I come here every week, it’s awesome. Here’s why. –No words such as «handcrafted, «handbuilt», «chefcrafted», or «artisanal» exist anywhere on the walls or on the menu. If an establishment’s character is carved out of these words it will be self-evident in the quality of the meal — NOT written all over the f***ing walls along with some other inspirational sh** that doesn’t need to be there. –price is awesome from front to back of the menu –food is very delicious, they have great salads and the pizza in particular holds its own against any you could experience in all of SD. –they don’t distract you by putting up a F***ing TV or having the volume higher than it should be which makes the smaller, cozy space feel very relaxed and intimate. –the servers are AWESOME. Giuseppe, our usual server is a bad mother f***er. I like that fact that some of them sound like they just learned basic english 3 months ago and it’s hard to understand them speak through their thick Italian accent. I’ve been here when a little Mexican cat served almost the whole restaurant by himself! This mother f***er was like Nightcrawler from X-men getting sh** done. In short, it doesn’t matter if this place is a Chinese, Italian, or Lebanese joint. As a restaurant experience from top to bottom it’s where you want go to get away from all these new, hip spots. Just serve me good food, send it out hot, don’t be overly nice and attentive so it’s annoying, dim the lights a little and keep your restrooms stocked on toilet paper. Arrivederci’s(La Pizzeria) does all of this. The end.

This used to be one of my favorite spots. I have two kids and this was a great restaurant as it satisified many tastes with pizza and pasta. Until one day in June i had family visiting and we all went here for dinner. I opened up the menu and out of the seam of the menu(where it folds in half to be precise) there were several small/baby cockroaches crawling out the seam. At first i thought my eyes were deceiving me but at closer look i was wrong. When i brought it to the waitress ’ attention she shrugged it off and did not seemed surprised by what i shared with her(as if she has seen this before). I think if she had handled it differently and at least attempted to convince me that this was not customary i would have felt differently about the situation. I have worked at many restaurants over the years and am understanding to some degree. Will not be coming back

Still scratching my head over my late lunch here today. Walked in around 4pm and there were no other customers here. That should’ve been my first clue. I ordered the Margherita Pizza, add pepperoni. My husband ordered the Diavolo and we split the Mozzarella salad, which was fine. The server brings us our food and says«Here is your Margherita, add pepperoni» except… what he brought was a pepperoni pizza. No fresh tomatoes, no basil. I figure it must be there, maybe under the cheese? The server is outside, on the phone now so I decided to take a few bites. Nope. No tomatoes, no basil hiding under the cheese. What I’ve been served is a very greasy, mediocre pepperoni pizza. The server is still outside on the phone then comes in and is arranging wine bottles on the wall. I call him over. «I ordered a Margherita +pepperoni but this is just pepperoni» he looks at the pizza & points«there’s some tomato there» Me: «that’s a pepperoni» Him«the sauce, that’s tomato» Me: «uhhh ok? And the basil?» Him: «oh we didn’t put the basil, we put the pepperoni» Me: ??? Ok I’m no brain surgeon but hello, crust, sauce, cheese & pepperoni– THATS A FREAKINPEPPERONIPIZZA. To his credit he did offer to replace it if I didn’t like it but A — we had somewhere to be and didn’t have time to wait and B — I had no intention of eating anything they brought out after that exchange. TL;DR Don’t come here.

I think when you’re at a location with so many other great choices for dinner, you have to always be great regardless if you’re a little restaurant or a fancy one. You just have to be on your game always because when you have a new customer come in and have a not so great experience… in this case myself, the next time I go out to dinner, you’ll probably now be on the bottom of my list. The food wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t fantastic either. We started with a bottle of wine and calamari fritti. Unfortunately, as good as the calamari was, the portion was small. It didn’t help that the plate it was served on was gigantic which makes me think it was probably much fuller before. The fried zucchini with the calamari was also quite soggy. My boyfriend ordered a pizza… I forget the name but it was a meaty little pizza. The flavors of what we had wanted were all there. It was a really good tasting pizza. The only thing we didn’t like was the crust was pretty much soggy. We had to hold the end with one hand and use our fork to pick up the rest of the slice. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara. For me, it was too slimy. It was literally like eating cheesy spaghetti with no salt. They probably don’t salt it expecting the bacon to carry the salt for the dish but the bacon was almost non existent so that logic didn’t quite work out. Overall if we decid to come back, we wouldn’t order any of the dishes we ordered. However because the flavor of the pizza was there, we may come back for another try. Big points to our server though. I left my raybans on the table. Didn’t realize it until we already got home. We live close by(just moved!) and when I called, he had them set aside for me to pick up.

Their pizza is on point. Their crust is sensational. Some of the best in San Diego. Easy to split a pie and a pasta/salad between two. A great Italian spot.

Such a great find! We happened upon this while leaving San Diego and headed into the lovely Hillcrest neighborhood. Great service and delicious food. The warm bread that is the first thing to welcome us after our long day of being tourists I could have rolled in and gone to bed. Warm fresh goodness. My girls each had a pizza — both YUM! Hubby and I both had salads but I could have eaten 20 plates of his. The Agugala with Shrimp and canellini beans was FABULOUS– totally not what I expected but a much welcomed surprise! Would ordered that again if we headed back to Hillcrest anytime soon.

After my rant on them not having Ballast point on tab, they finally got it in into the fridge. Hands down this is a great pizza place in San Diego. I would like to see the owners remodel, paint or rearrange the tables. The restaurant is just tired looking. Im not saying this to be a snob it just needs a face lift. The food is great but the interior is dated snd not inviting.

I LOVE this restaurant! My boyfriend’s parents bring us once a month and it is consistently crazy delicious. There was only one time we had a poor service experience, only due to being highly under staffed on a busy night. But the food makes up for everything… Personally, this is my favorite pizza spot in SD. My boyfriend’s mother and I always start with the polenta topped with mushroom ragu + parmesan– to DIE for! It is the perfect amount creaminess and Earthy-ness… The Coronado or Messicana pizza are my 2 choices I always battle between. The cheese is so insane! Very high quality, and that’s my favorite part. My boyfriend raves about the sauce. But nonetheless, all the pizzas I have tried are phenomenal! Honestly, after you try a pizza you think about it’s deliciousness the next day. This place is a must try if you love authentic Italian food.(FYI: Don’t get it mistaken with their sister restaurant down the street, that restaurant doesn’t have the same epic pizza oven!) –Enjoy + CHEERS!

Omg! This place is phenomenal!!! My Italian bf had been talking about how great this place is, and how authentic this place is. We finally came here and holy moly… it was amazing… and that’s before I was 4 beers deep. Ordered the 4th avenue pizza, and the button on my pants popped off before I even finished my first slice. That’s just how good it was… this place is a disservice to the hardcore exercise I put into my used to be summer ready body. That’s okay, the food is worth the muffin top. Samantha was our server, and if I could go higher than 5 stars I would. She’s awesome, knows the food, and is super attentive, regardless of the business.

Delicious pizza! Ordered a margarita and italia(prosciutto, arugula, mozz?) pizza. Really good sauce. Also came with fresh bread. The waiter was amazingly nice! My dad and i ordered a glass of wine to split and he brought us 2 glasses for the price of one glass. So sweet! Will be back for sure(:

Yum!!! Very good pizza. Alexis was very sweet during our lunch and very accommodating. She was helpful with wines and made sure I liked my choice. We had a margarita pizza added with mushrooms and it was very tasteful. Great crust and dough. Also had the caprese. Tomatoes were wonderful! Will be back for more.

I’ve never heard the HUBS rave so much about pizza. Or anything for that matter. «I’d come back here any day.» That’s seriously the highest compliment he can pay an establishment because he’s the pickiest person I know. We wandered Hillcrest with the rug rats, hoping to find a pizza joint and stumbled upon Arrivederci. Thank God we did. The food, as prior posters attest, is amazing and VERY authentic. I told Hubs, «This is what Italian pizza is like, like in little tratorrias in Italy.» That is super hard to find stateside, in my opinion. We had the margarita for the kiddos and he and I did the Capricciosa. That pizza. Seriously? Divine. Thin slices of proscuitto, artichoke hearts, fresh sauce and mozza. Oh yea baby! We also started with a mixed salad and the calimari. All were fresh and delicious. My kids devoured the bread which was warm and fresh. The service was great, especially for a crowded Saturday. Friendly and with a smile. I like that you can see the pizza oven and it makes for a very homey space(because it’s a bit small). As the hubs said, we would come back here any time.

If you’ve had pizza in Italy — then you’ll appreciate the pizza here. The crust was thin and perfect for folding in half. It’s also cooked in their brick oven so it gives that taste that regular ovens can’t beat. I had the Capriaso pizza which had artichokes, olives, ham, and mushrooms. The olives stood out more than anything because they were soooo salty! I love salty, but this seriously overpowered all the other ingredients on the pizza. Oh, and the pizza comes as a 12″. I ate half and was pretty satisfied. I’d come back to try other things on the menu, but I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
