La Colmena Frutymex

I made some visits to La Colmena and I’m yet to be impressed. Don’t get me wrong some of the shakes and juices are good but don’t expect top quality. The place is a shack that is over packed with Mex treats. It gets hot in there, sometimes the fruit that they use as a topping is warm. I’ve tried their fruit salad and is not great. Not a lot of varied fruit and barely any cottage cheese. Stick to the shakes people.

Totally Hate This Place! Way Too Over Priced & Its Doesnt Taste Terrible. I Ordered A Chamango & Tosti Fruti Or Whatever There Called. The Fruit Was Old & The Fat Man Charged Me $ 14.00. Wasnt Worth The Money I Paid! Wish I Could Throw There Chamango In There Face. Dont Come Here They Charge Too MUCH & It Taste Terrible!

5 star because the flavor was amazing. It could have been a little bit more colder & the consistency a little bit more thicker, but it was still amazing. Loved this little spot and will be back!

This place was super good!!! Kind of in a sketchy area of San Diego but still delicious. Portions are huge so be warned! Drove 45 mins to get here and we were not disappointed. They had no seating but once we told them there was no seating the cashier quickly removed boxes off a counter for us to eat on.

This lil hidden gem is absolutely amazing! The choices of fruit and variations is slightly overwhelming but who doesn’t like choices!!! If you come with an empty stomach, you’ll definitely have a difficult time choosing ur option. They have fruits n some veggies for sale, tons of Mexican candy and fresh fruit to eat or drink in sooooo many juices or shakes.
Bad news: cash only
Good news: they have an atm inside!
They also have green salads for sale… idk much about that. Enjoy kids!

Es mi segunda ves que visitó este lugar ok para empezar el olor de nose que chingados pinol o como le digan fabuloso ósea quien usa eso ese olor tan horrible orible ase como que el lugar tenga este olor feo nose noooooo i la jente cuando llegas no te atiende bien la mujer que trabaja allí bien ignorante pasa por donde uno esta parado esperando servicio ni compromiso ni buenos días ni nada bien bulgar como si estuviera en su pueblo majadera i luego para chingarla ponen a una niña para que atienda ala clientela i la niña ni abla como muda LOL nose no vuelvo a este lugar. Esta muy chiquito el lugar i la jente que trabaja allí no mas noooooo bien majadera i Luego mi plato que pidi de $ 10 de tostitos con camarones eran como 4 camarones sin MY aguante ya jamás vuelvo nunca mas

The 1^st time I was there the fruit was good and fresh, they do take a long time to produce the green drink and it didn’t have ginger as I requested.
The 2^nd time we went there the woman making the juices got upset when I asked which one was mine since We order 2 almost identical but mine had gingerl, her rude response was «I don’t know, taste it ! I was floored but argued that I couldn’t taste other person’s drink!
there where 2other ladies who order a fruit salad with extra watermelon and they paid extra $, when they got it it had the white part of the watermelon, the lady complaint and this rude lady went to get the owner who without knowing the facts started to argue that they asked for «extra watermelon and the white part is also watermelon «things got really nasty quickly ! They said they where going to Unilocal it and the response was «we don’t care, write whatever ! Bottom line I will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS DIRTY JOINT!

this place is you’re mom and pop joint in the neighborhood, nothing fancy just simple fruit chopped up in a plate/​cup of you’re choice and then they ad they’re usual like powder chili and what not.
waiting time isn’t to bad, its right in the ghetto but nothing to worry about as there hasn’t been much crime in the area.
Wile waiting I noticed big containers of fruit, I didn’t ask but it look like they sale fruit in bulk or oranges in bulk because they sure had lot’s of those.
Prices are ok so I guess Over all this place ges 4 start.

Talk about fresh fruit smoothies! They also make fabulous fruit salads on the spot. Lets be honest, its a hole in the wall joint but don’t let that stop you from checking it out.

If you don’t love this place, you may have mental problems.

Driving around with momma and I had a hankering for a good old fashioned licuado. Mom loves when I pick her up because she knows it will be an adventure.
Not like breakfast at cuatro milpas and coffee from café moto was enough, the fat kid in me had to have a licuado.
I’ve seen the reviews that Rossi, Mari and Mariela wrote and I knew if I was in the hood I had to go… shoot even if I wasn’t in the hood I had to go. I’m glad I did.
Mom ordered some green goodness that she was super stoked about. I got the Oaxaca, it was oh so creamy and delightful. The blend of fruit was perfect. It has guanabana in it and my be an acquired taste but I love it.
I took the girl there to look at the fruit sculptures that they make (they have pics of them there or on their website) The gentleman said they can do them in a matter of minutes! I’m very impressed and plan to order one! We clearly couldn’t leave without another licuado :-)
So much love for this place!

so glad I found this place BEST FRUIT, JUICES, SMOOTHIES AND SNACKS ! everything is fresh and the people working there are so friendly ! They seriously have almost every flavor you can think of!

OH MY GOD yes.
Le Rossi brought me here as he claimed it was the best frutas (smoothies) place around. He was right. Rossi is always right.
I parked around the corner and refused to get out of the car til he came and got me cause this area is kinda hood. lol.
They have AAALL the flavors.

For $ 5.
Coco, rompope, guanabanana, platano (banana), cajeta,…even La Abuelita chocolate. It really brought me back to my childhood and all the goodies my abuelita would have at her house for me and my cousins.
It’s the bestest most magical place ever.

So much to chose from! Everything its good and fresh, the downside will be the pricing… :S Although it s like a full meal :)

There was a paleta (a grandma, according to Rawsi) who didn’t know how to park.
Rawsi broke my glasses. He laughed.
Rawsi wanted me to get a drink to get the runs. A «cleansing» drink” … it consisted of prunes and raising and stuff … thanks.
Sat on a pallet which crushed under the pressure of all my weight.
Mood music included a pickup that pulled up with banda music and blocked the entrance.
I wanted a pic of drinks with my awesome glasses in front.
Someone else said that was lame.

Strawberries…I love strawberries with a passion. Carrots, pineapple, possibly had spinach.
It was the prettiest red ever. Wasn’t very sweet but I was ok with that.
The menu is CRAZY… so many things. They have to look at their own board to see what they’re gonna make.
They add a big ol chunk of fruit to your straw to make it look pretty. It looked pretty… I got a pineapple on mine!
Someone else got a sweet drink that they let me try. It tasted like the condensed milk, not the sweet one, the other one… I love that milk.
All in all Colmena is bomb. I’m too lazy to use my juicer at home cuz of the cleanup involved… this is a perfect alternative. It’s in the hood and the people are nice and there’s millions of options which they let you take forever to pick if you need that amount of time like I do.
I may try a sweet drink next time. Maybe. But there WILL be a next time.

This is by far the best fruitas place I have seen.

I can’t pronounce is perfect.
And not being able to understand the menu and their one thousand seven hundred million drinks is even better.
Not being fluent enough in Spanish makes it fun because the lady and I dance with our words.
The best thing tho… ok the second best. The second best thing is getting a fruitas in a
Slush puppy cup.
One time I got a sandia and she put it in a super big gulp cup.
I think she liked me that day because she also put a chili coconut slab and a mango chili slab with it.
It was amazing. Watermelon, coconut, mango, and chili powder.
So good.

The best thing about this place is that they serve the drinks cold.
I am not a huge fan of warm fruit juice.
But that’s just me.
I am a little off.
Plus I drank a bunch of coffee.
And had a donut for the first time in over a week.
