Brought out sailboat in for a new bottom job and some inspections. We picked this boat yard because they’re one of the few that let you do your own work. We had them do the bottom job while we did other projects. Prior to hauling out, we gave a very detailed description of the condition of the bottom because we knew it was going to need a lot of work. We received our estimate and hauled out. Then surprise surprise they increased the estimate. It needs more«prep work.» Well we suggested it first hand, but they said«no it should be fine.» We feel we were low balled on the estimate and when we were hauled out we had no choice but to continue on. Then when the bottom was laid on there were some spots on the water line that we brough to attention that needed touching up, which they did. This was on our last day. Then 2 hours later we were rushed into getting back into the water when we were originally told we still had a few more hours. We tried to protest, but they started setting up the crane without considering our concerns. The touched up spots probably didn’t get enough time to dry. It’s now 2 days later I can see that they are smudging off. The staff is rough around the edges, but I’m not big on chit chat, so I didn’t mind that. Plus I don’t think asocial behavior should play a difference in quality of work.

The girl who just answered the phone was so incredibly rude we decided to go elsewhere.

I cracked the mast on my classic daysailor and brought it to Koehler Kraft for repair. CF’s crew did a great job on the repair and lengthening of the mast. It wasn’t cheap and took a while to get it done but good work is never cheap or quick. CF is not big on small talk and he is a throw back to an earlier time of iron men and wood boats. Kelly and Tiffany in the office are great. I find the poor reviews on this site surprising but if you are looking to be coddled like you are at a day spa Koehler Kraft ain’t the place. But if you are looking for good work done honestly at a fair price then I highly recommend them.

We brought in our sailboat for new through holes and bottom paint and Kelly, CF and the staff did a really great job. The staff was really professional. I would recommend Koehler Kraft to anyone who is wanting to have work done or do it yourself work at a reasonable price. Thanks for the great experience:)

The owner is the crudest piece of work I have ever met. The way he treats his staff is appalling.

Worst.customer.service.ever. If you value quality work, craftsmanship, attention to detail, communication and professionalism, DONOT use Koehler Marina. The marine industry is already notorious for horrible customer service, but Koehler goes above and beyond this stereotype. We spent months in their yard because they are on of the few yards that works on wooden boats. They do not give updates, estimates or communicate with you in the slightest. I called once a day, every morning for three months straight to ask to speak to the owner and never received a return call. They would send out invoices and say they had to be paid the next day(against our contract.) They charged us more than the rate in our contract and then gave us push back when we showed them the agreed upon hourly rate. When we finally had our work done there we had to have over half of it redone because of the shoddy way they put it back together. A horrible, horrible experience and in the marine world, that’s really saying something. If there was any way to give zero stars, I would.
