Got the oyster sampler and albacore medium rare. Food came out pretty quick and the service. Definitely would come back again. The place does get busy so I recommended making a reservation.

Came to San Diego to visit some family and I’m so glad there is a King’s down here. Been a while since we ate at Kings so I was excited to see they have new drinks on the menu. Our server Tami was wonderful. She went over the new cocktails and nonalcoholic beverages in detail. I ended up trying the non-alcoholic one called«The Spa ‚» and it was light and refreshing w/cucumber and ginger beer. My girlfriend tried the«Pine Avenue» and it was a nice blend of strawberries thyme and vodka. We also found out there’s new desserts on the menu! The Hooked on Butter cake was suggested by our server, and it’s our new favorite! Very moist Buttery cake topped with the vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. The new banana pudding is also great. My girlfriend loved it. As usual, everything was perfect!

The crab cakes were very good but we found ourselves adding seasoning to all the dishes. They were not bad but not quite there. Lemon on the crab cakes, s&p on the halibut, the grilled veggies were bland. Instead of the server asking if we needed anything, while passing our table he’d comment«isn’t it good?»

Visited restaurant for dinner. Menu looks outstanding, lots of fresh seafood selections — variety of oysters, mussels and more. We had Hot Seafood Combo appetizer, which was nicely shareable(there were 3 of us, but it would actually serve 4). Crab cakes and shrimp taquitos were excellent, however calamari and popcorn shrimp were rather average. Part of the menu offers seasonal Farm to Table dishes, so I had Idaho Rainbow Trout Amandine, which was probably the very best trout I ever had — perfectly cooked and delicious. Rosemary potatoes and glazed carrots were also outstanding. Service was excellent — prompt, friendly and attentive. Definitely recommended.

Came in with a party of three and was greeted by host. She said someone was wiping down tables and we would be seated soon. Waited 10 minutes… no sign of that host who greeted us. We went up to the counter and asked and they were confused. Note that the restaurant was not that busy. I ordered the King’s Crab Cake as an appetizer and they were pretty good. Got two Oakland Port oysters and they were decent also. Ordered the bloody mary and it tasted fine. I recommend the King’s Combo Plate for the main course. It was delicious and gave a variety of seafood including fish, shrimp, and scallop. The only reason why I took off two stars is because service was a little slow although the restaurant was not even that busy. Our waiter took a while to get to us and it was very hard to flag him down for extra menus, water, dessert, the bill, etc. I’d come back for the food, but service really needs to improve.

Good location, super cute place, and great atmosphere. I do think the prices are a little high, but I have yet to be disappointed in any meal I have enjoyed here. Tonight I came in solo at sat at the bar. Immediate and attentive service. I was surprised by their good drink menu, and had an old favorite wine, Stags Leap, which goes surprisingly well with almost all fish dishes. I started with a Cali roll, and although not the best I have ever had it was really tasty. For my entrée I had the shrimp and scallop combo. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Sadly, the shrimp was over cooked but the sides made up for it. Grilled zucchini is my favorite. Nice and tender! The garlic mashed potatoes are a must for any tater fan. Would absolutely return, especially if I am on my way to a movie. I must mention that the last time I was here, we told our waiter we were kind of in a hurry to catch a show, and he graciously made us VIP and got us out in time for our première. Kudos to Kings and keep up the good work!

I wasn’t sure how to actually rate this place. While food tastes great it was lacking… volume. The beet salad with goat cheese was missing the goat cheese while the fish and chips were only a handful of fries. The complimentary sourdough bread was also small portioned and we heard someone ask for more bread and the waitress saying it would be $ 2. Huh? I’m not sure if I will return. If I pay $ 10 on my small salad I expect goat cheese. When I pay $ 20 for fish and chips I expect more too. Little pricy for the portions. Oh well, live and learn.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place . First, walking in this place. I love the décor and it’s not loud, so you can actually have a conversation. I had the parmesean crusted sand dabs and garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Fish was perfectly cooked. The lemon sauce and capers were really good. We had fried calamari and clam chowder for appetizers. Both were great. For dessert I had the chocolate cake. It’s so moist and it tastes homemade. The fudge frosting is awesome! And it was nice of them to not charge us for the cake since it was my bday. I will definitely be back!

We have gone here a few times. It is nice enough for a date or small gathering, but also welcoming for children. Fish and chips are everything you want from that dish, as are the oyster shooters! Service can be a bit slow on the porch, though, in our experience.

We celebrated my wife’s birthday dinner here and had a wonderful experience. The oysters were on point, as was my filet and lobster tail. Wife’s macidamia crusted halibut was cooked perfectly. And our beet salad was delicious! For the price… could have been a bit nicer inside… but 5 stars because our server new what he was doing, food was awesome, and these days that is getting harder and harder to find. Also, they don’t charge a corkage fee WILLBEBACK

Me and my husband went here last night for dinner and it was awesome. I literally have no complaints. We brought our own bottle of wine in and they didn’t charge us a corking fee. We then ordered a plate 12 Pacific Oysters which were amazing. They have this sauce for them that i have never had any where else that makes the flavours of the oysters and the flavours of the other sauces just pop. We started our meals with the beet salad that we shared and they also didnt charge us to split it. The salad was really good it had this delicious goat cheese sauce on the bottom. And finally the main course. My husband order the Filet with lobster tail and I ordered the Macadamia Crusted Halibut. Everything was really good I couldnt have left happier or more full. And to top it off since it was my Birthday I also got a slice of Key Lime pie which is my favourite.

I came to King’s for dinner and was impressed with the amazing service and of course, the food! We were immediately seated. Our server, Darnell was amazing. He was very personable and was great in helping me decide what to order. His knowledge of the menu and drinks was great. Let’s begin with the drinks. I started off with the Hibiscus Limeade(new drink) and ended stepping up my game by trying the Pine Valley(vodka drink) which instantly became my favorite. The food. It was delicious! We started off with Shrimp Taquitos. I ended up having the Parmesan Sand Dabs with a side of mashed potatoes and Mac-n-cheese. The flavor and taste was amazing and I’m happy to report that King’s did a phenomenal job with the sides. The food looked picture perfect and tasted as good as it looked! I have absolutely no complaints on the food or service. The atmosphere was relaxing and was paired nicely with background music. I’ve eaten at many fish orientated restaurants and King’s is officially at the top of my list.

I have been passing this place for awhile and finally decided to stop in. Service is above average. Food is decent. It is not bad but not great either. Menu is pretty diverse. For really good sushi, a place specializing in sushi might be better. This place would be good for a group of people who can not decide where they want to go for dinner but provides a wide range of options. The sashimi was ok. I tried the hand roll combo. OK, I probably would not order them again. I guess I prefer sashimi and rolls better.

I came here by myself to celebrate my birthday a day early. I was greeted and seated right away. The waitress was really nice and answered all my questions with a smile. Everything sounded great, but I ended up with the parmesan sand dabs with a baked potato and vegetable medley that was carrots, snap peas, and onions. I also got the blackened shrimp taquito appetizer and a hard cider to drink. I was highly amused by the fun drink napkins I was handed. It took the bar forever to get me my drink, but I was in no rush. The appetizer was not exactly what I was expecting, but they were fresh and tasty. Only ate half of them in order to save room for the main meal, which came out shortly thereafter. I’ve never had sand dab before. In fact, I did a search on my phone for what exactly a sand dab was(and for further curiosity sake, to see their sustainability — mainly because I had no prior knowledge of this fish). It was all good news in my book, and even better news that it was delicious! The fish was prepared perfectly. Great flavor, great look. Paired with the baked potato and other veggies, a great early birthday dinner. As my night was wrapping up, my waitress disappeared. Well, she was in plain sight, but she was helping all her other tables while someone else bagged my leftovers. I waited a good 15 minutes before anyone came by to give me a bill, even though I was very clearly ready to go. Another server offered to get me the bill, which he did after another 6 or 7 minutes away. I had my money ready to go, thinking I wouldn’t see my change for awhile. Which turned out to be the case. The restaurant didn’t seem particularly busy, but I felt a bit jilted at the end of my meal. While that part sucked, I will honestly say it doesn’t change the fact that I had an excellent meal and would gladly come back here to dine again(if I lived here).

We were tourist from Northern California — never been to King’s Fish House. We were worried that a place this big that has such a huge selection, including sushi might be sacrifice quality for quantity. They don’t. The food was really really good. And we got a little of everything. The service was especially good, fast — funny and helpful. The place is clean — the booths are big and the place is nicely decorated. They have a good bar as well. Check this place out

Their sourdough bread is always hot and delicious. Today I tried the southwest chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised. It was fresh and the dressing was really good. I’d have this again. Our waiter was also prompt and friendly over the busy lunch hour.

Monte is the manager here and he is ‘the man’! I really appreciate his customer service when helping me to arrange my large parties. Also, consistent with my last review, the place has a good clam chowder and some great sushi. In addition, I had their hamburger and to my surprise, a seafood place CAN do a burger right! So, it’s fine to enjoy your seafood and take non-seafood lovers here to enjoy the food as well! I’m going back tonight and hope to try the oysters and maybe see what their dessert and coffee is like.
