Jerry Chen Photography

Jerry gave me the best headshot anybody could have asked for… free of charge at the time since he was an up and coming start photographer and needed some modeling done for free (not that I can claim that I am a male model at all…) and to this date– they were the best photos I have ever received from any photographer, including the latest one on my LinkedIn from another photographer that I personally had to edit post-​their edits since it was still not perfectly and meticulously completed by that particular photographer. This would have never happened with Jerry Chen, no sir, Jerry himself is a perfectionist and OCD in the most beautiful and appreciated of ways as he will not return your photos until he is personally proud of them himself.
With most photographers, they usually have a style– something that you can tell is their panache. And Jerry’s is that of class and just really… honesty, to be honest. I think he really captures the essence of the shoot, without forcing you to be fake or telling you/​directing you to do something that isn’t natural. When we did our shoot on the top of Del Mar heights hiking trail near the beach, we had a blast while folks were walking around us staring at the young Jerry Chen directing a posse of 3 kids holding reflectors and light meters trying to find the optimal angle to capture the surrounding area’s beauty while allowing the essence of what he wanted that shoot (for an adventure/​outdoor campaign) to still not be lost in the shot.
What came out has been three photos that I absolutely love and adore and is actually framed (by him, kindly– free of charge in a beautiful wooden frame) and hung up at my house to this date. It has been several years but it still stands to a testament to how well this young gentleman (Jerry Chen) and now fully blossomed to this professional photographer and meticulous photo-​editor has now become. I can readily say I am glad to have been able to get him to shoot for me and would not hesitate to hand off my recommendation to friends and family, which I have, and can say I would want him at my wedding as the photographer as there is nobody else I know that would provide his stylistic perfectionism in the manner appropriately befitting of a professional in this field.
Another thing (amongst the many I cannot fit on this– otherwise I would sound like the ramblings of a senior describing his young grandson) about Jerry Chen would be that he brings so much energy and liveliness to the shoot. At the time, I was nervous about the shots, being out in public in the wind– with my rambunctious long hair at the time, Bruce Lee-​hair they called it, that I just could not focus on the shoot or the right poses… instead, Jerry called out the shots and took many numerous photos to settle with the few that made it post-​editing and produced pieces of art that I loved. Jerry’s more than your average photographer. He’s your friend and the person to really bring out your personality professionally in the shoot. I don’t think there are many photographers out there that provide this level of personality and again, it adds to his character.

Go with Jerry– you won’t regret it.

I was in need of some professional photos of myself for job searching purposes and Jerry Chen was the best I could’ve asked for. I told him at the beginning, this is going to be uncomfortable for me because I don’t like being photographed — especially on my own! But the music was turned on, Jerry had me laughing with his easy going, fun personality and I had a great time with it. Results: no feeling awkward, hence no awkward pictures! I was very happy with the quality and style of the finished photos. Would definitely recommend to a friend, or to anyone reading this who is searching for a professional, charismatic photographer.

Jerry was our photographer for a graduation shoot with my friends at balboa park. He was very enthusiastic, professional and made the experience a ton of fun! Jerry was also able to capture our individual personalities and our best features. The pictures are fantastic! In San Diego it’s really hard to find a photographer that creates a custom experience for you and makes the everyday person feel comfortable in front of the camera. Then try find one within your budget and it’s almost impossible! Jerry really makes sure you get the shot you want and bends over backwards to make sure you look your absolute best. Talk about great customer service!
Jerry consistently delivers high quality images that take my breath away. Hands down one of the best up and coming photographers around. :)
